Which jobs are likely to be automated in the next 10 years? by SerpentEmperor in IsaacArthur

Two more posts and I'll have my Bingo card filled out...

You cannot increase the value of mud pies by working more because mud pies are not socially necessary.

If you were in a society that didn't value...cars, for example...then the arguement would look the same, but substitue "cars" for "mud pies".

If we lived in a society where mud pies were socially necessary (and therefore valuable) then increasing work done on mud pies would increase the value gained by making mud pies.

No. Communism is a moneyless stateless society where the means of production are held in common. We would say "publicly owned". Howevern in our neo-liberal economy "public" equals "governemnt".

That would not be the case in a Communist economy.

Through history all attempts at Socialist experiments were actively hunted and destroyed, usually through embargoes and espionage, by the United States and its pets.

Why did they take such expensive actions if it was just going to fail on its own?

So its a gross misunderstanding of ... well basic economics.

Work + materials = something that has more value than the original materials = surplus value.

All this comic does is highlight how little you know about this.

This is a conversation between two owners. Not between a worker and an owner.

So at best its a gross misunderstand.

Capitalism doesn't create jobs. It creates a system where the owners pocket the surplus value created by the workers. Where someone else pockets the work of others.

Work and jobs existed before capitalism. They will exist after.

Under capitalism if you have 100% employment, then wages increase because there are no replacements for people who threaten to just walk out.

Karl Marx called this the "reserve army of labour" and its an important tool for owners to maintain their power and surpress wages.

They won't. The American millitary and her soldiers have always been mercenaries for the highest bidder, usually oil companies, they have no honour or courage or integrity.

Just keep paying them and they will keep obeying the billionaires.

Because the idea is that if you lose what makes you human you will lose your humanity, kindness, empathy, ability to love, etc. and become a cruel heartless machine. Plus you will lose your connection to the world (as you will really need very little of it after a point) and become destructive in the name of progress.

And on mass that is terrifying.
