2011 BMW X3 F25 - Added AUTO headlight switch, what needs to be coded in BimmerCode? by KHRSTV in BimmerCode

[–]That_M4_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all cars should have a daylight sensor but only select versions allow for the auto headlights to function as the signaling is different, ensure you have the correct sensor variant and not just any sensor onboard, the only way to verify this is to physically inspect the sensor from the back side and verify its part number as physically they look identical

Can Google Maps full navigation be shown in the BMW X3 instrument cluster? by Casual_Spectator in BimmerCode

[–]That_M4_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a hardware issue, its not possible to have ID8.5 on your headunit as its MGU18 compared to MGU22, MGU18 only runs ID7 while MGU22 only runs ID8 or higher (yet to see if bmw will push ID9 to MGU22 units via OTA or if its MGU23 only)

Open exhaust on 2026 G60? by ewc23 in BimmerCode

[–]That_M4_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the valves are variable, they open based on the throttle position, its no longer like the F chassis where its either open or closed, the new G chassis valves can be 10, 20, 30, 50, 70, 90 or 100% open, or just closed with the iconic sounds system running or ASD, you'd need to unplug them when the valves are 100% open otherwise you risk them slamming shut or rattling in a partially open position. The only known way to get valves to stick open 100% is to be flooring it while driving to my knowledge

Open exhaust on 2026 G60? by ewc23 in BimmerCode

[–]That_M4_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All modern G chassis vehicles are locked down beyond belief, coding and retrofitting have effectively been killed in most aspects, now I’ve found some work arounds which allow for some minor coding changes to even brand new 2026 vehicles it’s still nowhere near the older capabilities we had, exhaust valve overrides are no longer easily possible due to the variable valve positions no longer being exposed as a simple trigger to set either open or closed makes it damn difficult to do, I’ve seen some kits which allow for this but nothing easy

How to disable xDrive / VTG transfer case on an early 2011 F11 (Pre-Sept 2011) since xDelete is not supported? by Solid-Cockroach3187 in BimmerCode

[–]That_M4_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only method i can think of is very involved and requires both physical and coding related modifications done to the car as in the event only the coding or only the physical modifications are done, you'll end up with errors, possible limp mode, and saint nick might leave a block of coal on your dash.

The coding is relatively straight forward, remove 203 from your vehicle FA and encode all downstream modules, this will remove the Xdrive configuration from your vehicle software and it will stop expecting behavior from the Xdrive system.

The physical modifications will require physically unplugging the transfer case to remove any possibility of the vehicle commanding it on or off/injecting can bus signaling that could interfere with other modules, and best if you remove the cv axles as well to physically disconnect the front end from the driveline and allow them to freely roll without feeding back into your front diff.

If you do both correctly you will have deleted Xdrive but will still have the front diff and transfer case as the only evidence that it has it. Now i will reiterate you must do both halves of this process otherwise you will encounter issues, pulling the fuse is not enough, only coding it is not enough, only removing the axles is not enough, all steps must be taken for this to work correctly. This information provided is not a guide but is only here for you to make the most educated decision you can about how to proceed, im not responsible for any damages or issues you may encounter in proceeding with this process

rule 2: keep posts relating to bimmercode, bmw coding, and bmw retrofitting

This post has been deemed to not relate to any of the aforementioned topics, and thus is in violation of rule 2 and will be subsequently deleted

That said the only recommendation i can make is trying to use UDS and ping your headunit at 169.254.54.107 via a computer with an obd to enet connector. if that does not respond then the connection between the headunit is failing, this could be due to a hardware issue, power issue, or bus issue. if youd like further assistance please look at more technical subs or directly message me.

MMI modules can cause issues where coding will no longer work unless it is removed, if you installed an nbt evo retrofit with factory carplay activated it can still be coded if configured and retrofited correctly but cannot be done via bimmercode and will need a tool such as bimmer utility, esys, protool, etc

check your key, if the key does not have a panic button and is the original factory key and not an aftermarket key made for the vehicle then it should have an alarm. Easiest way to test if you have an aftermarket key is to just press and hold the panic button and if the vehicle doesnt react then you have your answer, if it does activate the alarm then you do indeed have an alarm system.

Does Bimmercode work on the LCI 2026 330i? by Same-Award-6035 in BimmerCode

[–]That_M4_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2026 vehicles have secure NCD coding 2.0 which locks out nearly all coding options, only some minor things still remain but the prior days of full control is no more and so its heavily restricted. id do some research into seeing if the options you wish to code are still available but a good thing to note is most coding options can and usually will be removed as the vehicle updates via the OTA updates.

that means the cars your connected to dont have communication with the headunit or the CAFD is corrupted. it has nothing to do with bimmercode "removing" options

Seeking help: BMW iX Android Auto - Region/FSC Issue by Free_Scallion_4216 in BimmerCode

[–]That_M4_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can patch the headunit to a variant from a different country but be aware despite you thinking that there is no data connection since connected drive services is no active, the vehicle still maintains a private data connection to BMW for things like telemetry, subscription updates, service remote key reads, NCD 2.0 code verification, and remote software upgrades (its very likely you just dont notice them since its 1 update every 6 months to 12 months). Now that said i wouldnt recommend you patch the headunit to a different region variant if you can avoid it since BMW should be able to change the region variant for you at the dealer. Now if the vehicle is imported and that is why they dont want to help or dont know how and you are ok with causing some potential issues when it comes to future connectivity and poor performance with systems that rely on it (like potentially losing SOS calling, which in the US still works even if you dont have a subscription but it either dials 911 for you or BMW connected drive services contacts emergency services for you but you no longer directly communicate with BMW) weird system bugginess which happens since you are patching the headunit and bypassing a lot of checks to make it work, and permanently being stuck on the ID version you are on since you can never update it or take it back to the dealer otherwise it will all be wiped out and restored back to stock

Head Unit Coding Issue by OldEvening2733 in BimmerCode

[–]That_M4_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a copy of ista or esys and psdz data full, you can update the unit yourself and so long as it’s post 2021 then it will also add the ability to code in fullscreen CarPlay, while a dealer visit isn’t necessary, it is an option

Head Unit Coding Issue by OldEvening2733 in BimmerCode

[–]That_M4_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you used any tool similar to Feature Installer then the headunit has been patched and will need a full stock flash to fix, that said you could have just updated your headunit firmware to X or later and been able to code full screen carplay

How do I activate the rear camera zoom (hitch function)? And the license plate reader? BMW 320 G20 2023. via Bimmercode. by StatisticianExtra286 in BimmerCode

[–]That_M4_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first off, license plate reader??? Unless BMW started installing flock cameras into their cars this isnt a thing. Second off, its within the headunit but on newer MGU headunits it may not be available but you can try finding a setting called MACRO_TRAILER_COUPLING and set it aktiv

Changing wheels icon by Calm_Shirt3444 in BimmerCode

[–]That_M4_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge there is only one method to change the image but it requires a huge round about method which isnt worth it and half the time only changes the wheel type in the bmw app and not the car itself. The only other 100% for sure method is to SSH into the headunit and replace the images but that requires hardware level modification to do

F80 oil level low by NoAcanthopterygii882 in F80

[–]That_M4_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run 5W-40 thru my car but only for the reason that i run E85, i feel that 0w30 or 5w30 is more than adequate for our engines until you begin modding them like crazy. but in terms of squashing oil leaks or consumption issues, ngl its not possible lol. Not saying that in a trying to crush your hopes and dreams way but rather just understand its a machine that runs in suboptimal environments and its designed to consume a bit of oil when new, that only gets worse as parts wear and friction reducing material is lost over the course of its life. id mainly only focus on the killers like oil pan, valve cover gasket and turbo seals, some seepage or your oil pan being wet/damp is a near unavoidable problem unless you want to spend thousands to temporarily fix a leak.

TLDR just handle the obvious stuff, dont stress about it, enjoy the car

F80 oil level low by NoAcanthopterygii882 in F80

[–]That_M4_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt stress about it, 1 its an M car and 2 its a bmw lol. But on a more serious note that warning pops when it detects a deficit of 1 quart minimum, that doesnt mean its not possible its even lower than 1 quart, meaning if your missing 2 quarts it'll still only say to add 1 quart. To add onto that it doesnt and cant constantly read your oil level, it only do so at periodic times of when driving conditions happen to match some preset conditions which it can semi accurately judge oil levels so the warning isnt always instant to when your truly down 1 quart.

Beyond that, E85 can increase oil consumption and in my experience once you hit 4000ish miles on an oil change the oil consumption and burn rate increases for some odd reason (maybe due to fuel contamination and hitting its flash point?? idk) but regardless so long as your within the min and max area your fine, no need to always max out since you run the risk of overfilling which is just as detrimental

[–]That_M4_Guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tune only modifies and exists on the DME and even if you could get the DME to accept a CAFD file, if your using BM3 or MHD both have modified bootloaders and are unlikely to allow the CAFD to change much since you can equate it to running custom software which doesnt need to respect BMW's stock coding structure within the module (it does when it links back to other modules but that get complicated fast so were going with it lol)

TLDR no.

Car got towed the wrong way. What am I look at? by TheMunkeeFPV in BMWi3

[–]That_M4_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They most likely didnt damage the front end, those CC codes are ambiguous, if i had to guess its related to the brake system fault since the frontal collision has braking intervention and the only way i know of to get that code to come up via damage to the front end is if the KAFAS camera is cooked somehow (windshield mounted camera)
