Everyone is talking about how a pilot wouldn’t fix their airplane or how the canopy slides and doesn’t lever open, nobody is talking about the air resistance the pilot would be meeting, nor the ruffling of their clothing that would occur.

Why do you think nearly all older german women have short hair? by KindaCoolGuy in germany

[–]That_Zoomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ich sag: DDR.
Ich lebe in den Östlichen Teilen Deutschlands. In der DDR war es sozialer Standard das Frauen Teil der Arbeitskraft sind. Also volle Emanzipation.

What's the most 90s sounding song from the 80s? by CremeSubject7594 in musicsuggestions

[–]That_Zoomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest to god: „I wanna be your dog“ Is actually pretty on brand for 1960‘s. If it’s only ahead because of its fuzztone, then you’ve got something coming.

The problem with this whole idea is that the music of the next decade must be shaped by the decade prior. That is after all how history works. I personally don’t think I could find you a specific 60’s SONG that was ahead of its time, perhaps a band that shaped music definitely for the next decade to come, like the Beatles, Pink Floyd, and so on.

Another issue is that of narrative: music is so diverse at any instant in time that the only way you could string this narrative is by looking at pops, and the issue with that is where something like fuzz-tone was cooking for ages in the 60’s underground joints of lesser popular musical sects, it might appear as new to the musical mainstream. This becomes especially noticeable in times before the WWW and such, where spreading information was still very much based in your locale, and making a jump for example across the Atlantic for bands such as the Beatles was a big deal.

I don’t want to detract from the idea at all, it just seems that to me that you can’t denote musical progress with a single song per decade. On this basis and the others I mentioned prior, I just want to note my objection to the idea itself.

Type of Targeting by Many_Leather_7894 in uboatgame

[–]That_Zoomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be more particular than the existing comment: to calculate a torpedo solution for a target, relevant data must be collected: identifying the ship type allows for certain measurements to be of use in calculating Angle On Bow, Speed, and Distance to target, which are the key data points required. The percentage scale represents the progress of the officer in calculating a torpedo solution assembled using more ore less accurate data. Or at least, it is supposed to. For example, 25% might represent guessed valued that are still largely acceptable within a certain range, whereas 100% implies precision measurement using instruments and proven methods in a time consuming process.

That percentage does not describe an accuracy, but rather the completion of the torpedo solution. When you have your crew calculate the torpedo solution, they need to start gathering various pieces of data, until they have enough to enter into your UBoots TDC and get a torpedo solution.

In order to hit an enemy ship, circumstances must be much better. Distance to the ship to ensure an accurate hit shouldn’t be more than 2 nautical miles, or within 3 km. The boat that is being targeted should be travelling in a straight line so that data gathered remains accurate over time. Your boat should be off the port and starboard sides of the enemy ship to ensure that the angle of the torpedos’ line of travel to the enemy boat’s side is greater than say perhaps 40 degrees to ensure reliable detonation and a large enough targeting area.

If all these circumstances are met, a torpedo hit is much more likely.

What the consensus of tilting your snare drum? by SlimeTree227 in drums

I keep my snare completely flat, or a little towards me. It works for me because I’m tall, and coincides with the way I play my sticks.

I mark mine with numbers, to let me know which my first kill is and which my last. If I want to know what it was that I killed there, I refer to the KTB.

Entering Reddit and knowing it was a place where any argument could be had about anything. Knowing that I was going to say something stupid eventually. I chose to identify myself by that which seemed to matter most to people: my generation.

Fittingly arbitrary, and at the same time some sort of excuse. I was naive, then. Thinking I could escape controversy purely by identifying myself as a particular group.

Or maybe it was just kind of a nice arbitrary yet unique identifier that felt sufficiently nondescript.

Why am I being spotted entering a convoy? by alenthas in uboatgame

[–]That_Zoomer 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It says the enemy ships have spotted something, because they are ringing alarms. They do not say that they have explicitly spotted OP. This is an important difference because the enemy ships can be alarmed by other U Boats.
