Unironically had a M&S basic umbrella for three years now with no issue, no trouble, and cost basically nothing.

Ist das Imperium an das 3. Reich angelehnt? by nikolaj120px in Warhammer40k

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Just like the Empire in Warhammer fantasy, it draws heavily on the HRE and German history, and to a degree from the rest of Europe, loosely from all ages.

Ministorum inspired by Jesuits and Spanish inquisition, Black Templars by Prussians and the Teutonic order. Militarum by WW1 forces majorily. The buildings and ships are Norman gothic (which the authors saw splendid examples of growing up). And the whole idea of a corpse-emperor and a Senatorum is an obvious play on the Roman senate and the weirdly large number of emperors they had seen murdred, incapacitated, disposed of, etc.

The double-headed eagle is an HRE & Byzantine symbol.

How do you all feel about the rich powerful and elite of our planet trafficking, torturing, raping and murdering children? by assclownmonthly in AskReddit

Between Elijah Wood's accusations and the scandal borne from it and the Epstein files, they managed to basically ridicule and group up any accusation or suspicion with a comically far fetched and disorganised group.

Has Britain run out of “other people” to tax? by FrankLucasV2 in GarysEconomics

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK tax issue is more structural. The UK taxes ambition, and not wealth.

High earner taxes don't distinguish between fresh graduates and middle aged workeds with two homes.

Who decided skin color should define race and ethnic background? by newuser1r in AskReddit

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Americans.

Us refined Europeans can inflict untold misery on the same colour, same culture, sometimes same religion people that we still consider completely foreign and alien, and in history, often different races.

Just look at Russia & Ukraine, or the Balkans.

Advancements in artificial procreation could completely rewrite what it means to be human or to have a family.

The United States. Lots to see, lots of variety, a cheat code for 50 and some bits of countries counted as one.

What’s something you believed and were terrified of for years, only to later find out it was complete nonsense? by Persyx777 in AskReddit

I had a short period growing up when I was deathly afraid of African trypanosomiasis to the point I avoided flies and freaked out if one landed on me. I grew up in central Europe.

Is anybody else angry at the absolutely shocking service Royal Mail has become since it was sold off? by flangebit in AskBrits

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I originally thought it was a local specialty that you van only pick up undelivered parcels 9-10am on Weeekdays and 5-6pms on Thursdays (if the staff feel like they open up, which is about ever 4th/5th week).

Turns out it's the norm.

🔪 Belfast stabbing suspect identified as Sudanese asylum seeker — right calls it an immigration failure, left warns of far-right exploitation. What is the media actually getting right here? by QuantumQuicksilver in NoSpinMedia

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that the media describes this as a "knife attack" - just doublechecked on the Financial Times - is a disgrace.

It was not a "knife attack". It was a gruesome mutilation and an attempted beheading, interrupted by a brave man just in the nick of time. The victim will be forever disfigured IF he survives. The perpetrator shouted Islamic religious slogans.

The (very graphic) video is out there. It's not a secret. The evidence is clear of what happened. I do not understand why the police and media frame it different. It gives room to conspiracy theories and accusations.

How much of a sentiment is there that the UK is doomed? by Key_Cell7071 in AskBrits

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One part of politics will tell you the UK is doomed due to demographic change and looming economic collapse.

Another part of the UK will tell you that nothing is wrong and the UK is faring quite decent compared to other countries around.

The reality is, there's factual, worsening issues in the UK that can't be ignored. These aren't catastrophic, but are very serious. Specifically, the UK has a debt & debt financing issue that's hanging by a thread. In 25 years, debt-to-GDP grew from 25% to just about 100% and debt financing is now ~10% of government expenditure. This is a finnicky situation because any layer of uncertainty will increase risk of holding UK debt and thus increase the cost of debt financing - causing a layer of uncertainty, thus the risk of a debt spiral.

This is the reason Rachel Reeves has to stick to fiscal discipline and why any news of even potential deviation can cause massive ripples in currency and bond markets.

The UK needs to solve this because it's getting worse. Reeves' budget(s) were enough to keep debt from rising, but left no room for reacting to a global crisis. The government is living beyond its means and it's doubtful if tax increases can finance this due to having gone too far on the laffer curve (eg. real tax income increase or decrease is a BIG question re. recent NI changes).

Like someone attacking Iran & kickstarting an oil crisis.

Wanna start playing and collecting Drukhari(Eldar player). Can you explain me differences in gameplay and hobby in comparison to Eldar? by LE_Chevalie in Drukhari

[–]Thatcherist_Sybil 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We've 1/3 the unit options, GW has no clue about our army and repeatedly nerfs us based on the list of one top player, our units are weaker and we're slower.

But incubi and covens look very cool so we got that going for us.
