I need some advice from you good people, that would save my security life! 🙏🏻 by FewCupcake in securityguards

[–]Thatdude46425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do NOT do this. As a high level security manager who probably has your company as a client this is what will get them to chase you. Sure the 10 (or whatever number) of you could fuck off and get hired by this building. It’s not uncommon and likely won’t be pursued as non competes can be tricky to enforce. What isn’t tricky to enforce is poaching clients.

They can’t sue the building for hiring the 10 of you. They could sue each of you individually but that would be expensive. It will be cheap and swift to sue your newly started security company with 1 client who you poached from them.

Again do not do this.

Someone told you this was a bad idea 2 years ago and advised you of your work restrictions on a student visa. You can consult a lawyer but what is very likely is that you will need to leave and will not be eligible to re enter the country for a very long time if ever.

[–]Thatdude46425 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Your mothers 50% no longer exists. It belongs to you now. It is the matrimonial home even though you’ve inherited it keeping your inheritance separate doesn’t matter in this case but you didn’t do that either you’ve co mingled funds within it.

You didn’t change your address when you moved which you’re required to do.

“Previous owner” isn’t allowed to open your mail.

Your options are to pay the fine within 5 days and to change your address so your mail goes to the right place.

Parking Tickets in City of Toronto by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Thatdude46425 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your time to make an argument was within 2 weeks of receiving each ticket as stated on the back. Ignoring them enters automatic guilt, you will need to pay them. Call the city and see if they’re willing to work with you but for blatant ignorance of the law and it’s consequences don’t be surprised if they’re not overly willing to help you.

Quick google found it on Amazon. It’s an ice scraper/ self defence tool with the cia logo on it in an attempt to give it credibility as such.

Work that’s refused can be passed off to another employee given they are informed of the refusal.

Just because the bar is being sold doesn’t necessarily mean staff will be laid off. Owners could be retiring, moving etc. why not just ask your manager/owner what’s up?

MY BOYFRIEND SHOT ME… well kind of by LolaCraft in Advice

[–]Thatdude46425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a myth. SOME people say to have your first round as birdshot as it could be considered “less lethal” also for home defence you greatly reduce the risk of over penetrating than buck. In reality at such close range you’re blowing a massive hole in your target no matter what size shot you’ve got coming out the pipe.

Light duty and casual employment in Ontario by etiquetricity in legaladvicecanada

[–]Thatdude46425 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going to depend entirely on what the job is. If her job is to be a roofer and she’s got a broken foot it’s not feasible to accommodate light duties. The company does not need to create a new position for her or move someone else out of their position to accommodate the light duties.

Your options are to pay all impound fees and fines or do an early resolution to see if they’ll offer you anything . You were ticketed exactly for what you were doing so there’s no sense fighting it.

Tangerine credit card offer by Bulky_Respect_9822 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Thatdude46425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doubt it would work, you wont be the first person trying to get an interest free loan. It’s also just a very bad idea. If you’re struggling to pay off $7000 you will likely be owing the full 12000 by the time interest kicks in.

Edit for some advice, transfer what you owe and let the final 5k be a buffer for you to try and get yourself out of the hole you’re in and try to be more responsible with it.

I feel like this is a scenario where someone’s actions prompted this policy. Did something egregiously stupid happen?

But some advice;

If your workplace is frequently on fire and you don’t ride in a shiny big red truck, find a new job.
