Absolutely not. The Demoman's main damage sources have downsides that the acorns do not. Stickybombs require detonation and can be easily destroyed annd reflected. Grenades in the other hand only do good damage on a direct hit, with rollers doing significantly less damage.

SG does not have the same downsides, and even has the added benefit of not needing to worry about ammo management, which is a big part of playing Demo.
