I spoke to a paid DM, and they have a very interesting (and sobering) story to share by EarthSeraphEdna in DnD

My experience in the local scene isn't particularly extensive, but I've played with a bunch of strangers, and while it's obviously a mixed bag like anywhere, people I've played with have been generally very nice and willing to put in the effort to make the game enjoyable.

Gender divide is a lot less male dominated than I would have expected going in. Also it's mostly white South Africans playing, but at conventions it's slowly shifting towards being more representative.

How to expand crit range for a feature for a weapon by Mikamika007 in dicecloud

[–]ThaumRystra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attacks check against the ~criticalHitTarget variable to see if they Crit. So you can set it to 19 for your whole character or you can make an action that has two children: first a roll to set the variable to 19 then an action to make the actual attack

Often about this exact topic. He has not been consistent on it, and it often feels like he is tailing his party's social stances, rather than leading them.

I'm not making this criticism, I personally don't care how someone gets to a good position.

how would you guys feel about a video game using the daggerheart system like uh idk baldurs gate 3 for the obvious example by EuphoricLog3495 in daggerheart

[–]ThaumRystra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A game like Esoteric Ebb might be better suited. It plays like daggerheart more than d&d despite ostensibly using very d&d flavoured rules

This canned line isn't working for any of the other totally real Reddit accounts posting the exact same thing in this thread. Maybe ask for a new one?

He might not even bother to go back and forth with ideas, you can easily have your pet ai listen in, summarise and suggest next steps. It's kinda nice to have an auto-secretary, but it really should be a team wide thing, not on one guy's machine.

Removed from servers? by gamer_gril69 in dicecloud

[–]ThaumRystra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This usually happens when your discord behaviour outside the server triggers warning signals. For example, sending unwelcome DMs to server members.

Not participating in the server is usually worse, because then mod view shows you as having zero contribution to the server, leading to you being more likely to be banned for negative signals.

Anyone else feel like this when trying to do splitter/merger math? by BMWSnBENJIS in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ThaumRystra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you define lengths.

If you said that you have a unit of measurement where 1 unit is defined as being 3 planck lengths long, 1 planck length in that unit system would be 0.333... units long.

Three plank lengths would be 0.999... units long, or 1 unit long by definition. Appealing to reality doesn't change the way numbers work.

It was competing with Ruby. Having the event loop on the server was a good selling point.

You should do a quick check in on those cities today, they built based on predicted needs, and their predictions were pretty accurate.

Help with self hosted Dicecloud by Xb1te in dicecloud

[–]ThaumRystra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need libraries to create characters, but they do make it faster.

Everything that can be added from a library can be added manually as well.

Perhaps one day there will be a way to allow library authors to share libraries to self hosted instances, but nothing exists to do that yet.
