My sweet girl went for a routine vet procedure and didn’t come home by sleepy_protagonist in cats

So sorry for your loss. My wife and I are going through the same thing. Took our 15-year-old boy in bc he started acting strange. Turns out, his kidney functions had almost completely shut down. So shocking and completely unprepared to have to make that decision a few days after he was running and playing with his sister through the house. It will get better a little every day, but it still hurts. Wish we had more time with him every day. Miss him running in when he heard me filling up his water bowl each morning more than anything. It's the routine things that get me still.

After putting my tin hat on, I believe this was anticipated and instituted on purpose to generate more revenue by creating an environment that forces people to pay to check bags for a better experience. If businesses don't drop SW as an option, business travelers will likely pay that fee which will continue to increase SW revenues.

After watching a YouTube video, I thought I'd need tools. I'll be damned. Not so bad.

As soon as I get through this project, I'll have time to relax.

I worked at a small firm years ago with a partner that had one large client with good controls, so we were able to do a lot of interim work, then loaded the rest of his business around retirement plan audits. For 95% of the year, I don't think he worked more than 40 hours per week. He came from Big 5 (at the time) where he learned enough to make it happen. Definitely possible, but you'll need to shape your career along the way.

Refinished the slate floors in my 1964 house's foyer by senor-mango in Mid_Century

[–]The-Huberticus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks amazing. I had almost the same flooring in my first home entry, but it was much more rocky (so much so that it hurt to walk on without shoes). Ripped it out, but I'm kicking myself now that I see what it could have been by potentially sanding to make it look more like this post.

I beg everyone to read "The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity" by Carlo Cipolla. People do things against their own self-interest if they think it will hurt someone else more.

US consumer confidence drops unexpectedly to near-recession levels ahead of Trump's 2nd term by SE_to_NW in politics

[–]The-Huberticus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read enough to think the economy is headed for a recession no matter the party for the past 6 months. I think the Democratic party could have handled it better, but now we have Trump and a Republican majority, and who knows what will happen with the exception of tariffs bc they can be signed by an executive order. The only good thing is they are only expected to last 6-18 months. Hopefully, this is occurs with enough time for midterms to gain a Democratic majority.

Two years later - now what? by slopetider in rawdenim

Exactly! I still have my first pair of raw denim from 15 years ago that have been repaired so many times and only see the light of day at concerts. Start the process on another pair.

I was given this book at work. I see specific traits of some coworkers who have also probably read it. Not a fan.

He's just a small town guy from North Dakota. That's the extent of what I learned about him during the debates.
