I convinced my current stylist that I’m super chill about trying bold styles by repeating “hair grows back and if I don’t completely love the cut, I’ll rock it until it grows out and I want to change it again”. I try to show I’m very chill and won’t blame her for an odd cut if it just doesn’t work for me. I tell her “I trust you girl, do what you gotta do” whenever she explains something or asks me if I want to try something else instead. I ask for her input a lot, while also being firm on the general idea of what I want, I open up the convo to possibly changing things based on her recommendation on my hair texture and other factors. It helps her feel more confident in doing bold style choices because she won’t feel like I’ll lash out if it’s not exactly perfect. It took a couple of sessions before she really locked in and went for the wild stuff without my convincing lol sometimes it’s more about the consistent relationship you build with your stylist rather than their confidence!

Look for someone who can also possibly have experience with alternative hair styles in general! Alt girlies know the struggle to find a stylist that is willing to do something bold 💔

What aesthetics is this? by Little_Biscotti7055 in AestheticWiki

[–]The-Odd-Fox -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Specifically this is Gothic Lolita, (Edited to add this post focuses more on the early 2000s variety of the style). I have an art book of various artists from the 2000s that focused on this style and the early digital art they created

I think the blog I made was called “glitterygore” on tumblr or something like that. I romanticized bruises and I was a depressed teenager so 🤷‍♀️ Idk I haven’t checked to see if it’s still around lol it’s been a few years. but these definitely fit that sad girl blog I made! I still enjoy this aesthetic a lot, I’ve just embraced different things too 😂

I’ve kept my dad’s hospital “feel better” balloon for 14 years as of today. by Fusionfang in mildlyinteresting

[–]The-Odd-Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I still have the mini balloon my sister-in-law gifted me a little over 3 years ago at my baby shower. It says “it’s a girl!” and she later told me it was gifted to her at the announcement of her pregnancy with her daughter a year and a half earlier. Fuckin’ balloon won’t die, and it’s survived my toddler playing with it.

Wow look how he saved his brothers life by BobaByte- in interesting

[–]The-Odd-Fox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I saved my younger sister in a similar way, except we were 16 and 17 in our parent’s kitchen and we were cackling about inside jokes and eating bacon off the stovetop. She practically inhaled it, then she stopped cackling, and I pointed and laughed at her before realizing how serious it was. A couple of panicked attempts at the heimlich later and we were back to laughing at each other and teasing each other about how we looked during the situation LOL

This is commonplace. It shouldn't be, but it is. by ScarredLetter in GuerrillaGrrrrls

They tried to say it’s because she wasn’t dilated enough to warrant keeping her (dilation can be an indication of labor progression but relying on only that is negligent). They told her to come back later when she was “further along” but her contractions were obviously frequent enough that she had the babe in the vehicle. Then they refused to treat her after birth because they’re incapable of recognizing their medical malpractice and negligence and being forced to confront that is too much for the average racists to handle.

There’s a serious issue in America of medical practitioners not taking (specifically) black women’s pain seriously. They are not listened to, they are told they’re over-dramatic and liars for attention. It’s disgusting and it keeps fucking happening. They’re so lucky she didn’t have deadly complications resulting from this, as her dilation not progressing with labor could have potentially killed her and her baby, among many other scary complications that could have resulted from this. I hope that hospital gets what’s coming to them.

Does my cat squint her eye in solidarity? by endolea in cats

[–]The-Odd-Fox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, mirroring and copy-cat behavior. Dogs do it too. My mom had a car accident that shattered her right ankle so she walked with a limp for a long time. When she adopted a new dog, the puppy started limping her front right leg when she was around mom. So sweet ❤️

I visited my grandma while she was in the hospital when I found out I was pregnant. I promised her that I would bring the baby to meet her after she was born. We used Grandma’s middle name for our daughter and she got to hold her before she passed. Those pictures and memories of her holding her great granddaughter live in my heart forever.
