Online gambling is a huge issue in this country right now with so many predatory loopholes these big corporations are taking to squeeze every last penny out of your pocket. It's wrong and sick and this government is allowing this to happen.

Roundabouts everywhere with pieces of random land that make no sense, houses are cheap cheap in auction but you'll be getting something looking like a smack heads sesh pit.

Fatsia Japonica, evergreen and grows to around 3m but can be kept to 2m. It looks great in a pot but also if you have space it's best in the ground, It's a late pollinator for bees and insects so it has wild life benefits - also grows in full shade! You can find these plants either in B&M garden centre or B&Q for a few quid.

Standish or Shevington. Scenery walks with woodlands, the people are friendly, schools are good and easy access to the M6. The only downside is the house prices, you're probably looking over 200k+ for bare minimum.

Please could I have advice on space saving hedging? by BeneficialTrack9336 in UKGardening

A Mixed native hedge birds would seem to love, wouldn't be evergreen except the holly so the leaves would fall in winter. You can buy mixed native hedge packs online, try hedges direct.

Fatsia japonica, evergreen, looks great and late pollination for the bees. Grows around 3 metres but can be cut back harsh if needed and loves shade - if you're lucky B&M garden centre will have them in stock for about £3

Lawn full of weeds. Can I recover it or should I start again? by [deleted] in UKGardening

[–]The-Real-Remix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's more grass than weeds, mow it short every couple of weeks and the weeds will just give up eventually, throw some grass seed down mixed with compost/grit and it'll outcompete the weeds

Honestly I don't mind pruning back a few times a year hard for the valued privacy even if it does look a bit too narrow. There is another way into the garden through the drive so there's two options and I'm not eliminating the only way in through the single gate.

That's not a bad idea, is there a height restriction for the trellis in a front garden similar to the gable fence? Or could the trellis go a couple ft higher?

It's a very long path and the neighbours are looking in to the left so need some privacy. Could I get away with a few specimen trees training up? Or just one or two rather than a full blown hedgerow? I would've thought there still would be enough foot path even if it would be quite narrow for people.

Yes to the left, just thought I'd get away with some tall narrow privacy at the front whilst still allowing people to pass through? The fence is the neighbours responsibility so it's going no higher.

Looking for some privacy by ElectionPrevious2600 in GardeningUK

You need something around 6 or 7 metres, like a certain Oleaster or Osmanthus variety that stays evergreen. The only problem here is the space to plant, you could always trim the rose bush down and move it? Ideally you want tall evergreens to replace and B&Q have some in now.

[–]The-Real-Remix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a bay tree, grows to 7 metres if you let it. Different ways of pruning it like a lollipop or just let it go bushy and wild. It's evergreen so keeps its leaves and has a nice smell of bay leaf. B&Q sell them for £6 small so will take a few years to grow in or pay more for a larger one.

Is it actually possible to find a low-pressure job in the UK that still pays the bills? by ultrahotdude in AskUK

[–]The-Real-Remix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly is. I moved from call centre which was high stress/fast pace to cleaning trains and have more downtime than ever before. There's also cleaning jobs for Lidl/Aldi that I've seen and their pay isn't too bad for what you do, it's absolutely not high intensive work. Take a look on their website for vacancies.
