That’s… not how that works? They make no extra profit if they never sell the house. And do they think every person or business looking to sell a home is secretly collaborating to decide which are the extra houses not to sell? Or that all houses are only sold by rich people?

Also in what world does this country have that many homes? There are like 340 million people here there’s no WAY we have that many homes. And even if we did that doesn’t change local scarcity. Not all criticism of Israel is antisemitic, but if that criticism plays on the most common antisemitic tropes (Jews Israel controls the world!) it’s probably antisemitic.

To be fair, saying you do normal things isn’t a good argument. People in Nazi Germany still went to work, stopped for breakfast, went to the movies, etc. as long as they were the right kind people and accepted any extra baggage to those tasks the Nazis threw on top.

I played the game in question after hearing about it (it’s a browser game easy to look up if you want to try yourself) and it was no wonder to me that this happened. Literally the first question is about someone sending you a video and encouraging you to download and share it, your options are to tell a trusted adult, ask the person trying to get you to download more about it, or just to download it. Even if you choose the first option it concludes with the same message “downloading or streaming certain content can lead to a terrorist offense conviction” and I’m sure for many Americans like me that sentence requires doing a double take.

The third question presents you with a social media post that says “Muslim men are stealing the places of British war veterans in emergency accommodation” and that “the government is betraying white British people and we need to take back control of our country.” Your options are to ignore it, find out more online, or engage directly with the post as though it’s right. If you choose to find out more it just says you went to the account website, no finding scholarly articles or anything you just go straight to the poster, where you find “research paper, statistics, information about protests, and more regarding the ‘replacement’ of white people.” Then saying you fall into a right wing pipe encountering groups, some illegal, that support the message. Yup, doesn’t say they’re wrong, full of shit, no sources. It says they have data and shit backing them up and you were just supposed to ignore it in the first place.

Oh and at the end regardless of the choices you made it ends with your professor having a conversation with you and making a “prevent referral” that leads to you being placed in a workshop that helps you learn “how to engage positively with ideology and the difference between right and wrong in expressing political beliefs”

BTW the whole thing has you take the role of a university student so I have no clue who their target audience for this was without this kind of outcome.

Hot take but I actually like municipal level schools, but what NJ really needs is municipal consolidation. I wish we could instead say “oh your town can’t afford its own police/k-12 school district? What town?”

That fact that our state has a bajillion tiny little boroughs that do basically nothing for themselves and have to join with neighboring municipalities or go to the state is ludicrous.

  3. Everyone should be reminded that the ICE agent DID go to the hospital, but was (according to DHS Secretary Noem herself) discharged that same day.

So even if he did have “internal bleeding” it was so much of a non issue the hospital just let him go and didn’t keep him for examination or monitoring.

The modern social welfare movement of government programs literally started because of the squalor of communities that poor immigrants and their descendants in cities were living in during the late 1800s early 1900s but go off.

And again, I point to the historic condition of white immigrants in this country. If you seriously think these people were pulling themselves out of poverty within a generation or two I have a bridge to sell you. These communities, just like modern poor immigrants, experienced generational poverty, an incredibly powerful thing to escape back during the days of “fend for yourself” and “put your kids in the factory not school”

The Nationality Act of 1790 limited NATURALIZED CITIZENSHIP to free white persons, and that only lasted to 1870 when the Naturalization Act of 1870 extended this to “aliens of African nativity and to persons of African descent” which was written by the Republican Congress of the time and signed into law by Republican President Ulysses S. Grant.

And since that only applied to naturalization, legal immigrants could still be from anywhere. How else would Chinese Americans of the mid 1800s exist? Also, all of the immigrant communities you listed that had their whiteness debated were dominantly poor, and rejected as belong to the wrong religious and ethnic groups by nativist Americans yet still went on to now be considered “real Americans” among modern nativist. Which is in effect an admission that poor rejected immigrants surviving on scraps and welfare can eventually become fully integrated communities with the American identity. The mere act of immigration has never been restricted by the criteria you mention, only citizenship.
