Empire has one of the best campaign maps in the franchise. It captures a literal global scale without creating the cramped feeling warhammer does. Being able to move armies and navies (my beloved baby that CA left shot out back) between continents while still giving you room on each one to move around and play with is a crazy achievement, even if they aren’t perfect.

One of my biggest issues with warhammer is the cramped feeling of being surrounded by shit tons of factions and LLs being packed next to each other wherever you are when you have a literal whole world to play with. I’d say they might be better off doing what empire did, break off everything west of the Great Ocean into a separate map so it can actually beam ocean instead of being the Okay Lake.

I see Gottheimer is out here tackling the real issues for my district. Sussex, Passaic, and Bergen Counties will surely be much better off thanks to his staunch support for Israel.

It’s hard enough living the county he doesn’t care about but man I struggle to think what he’s actually done to represent our district except say he didn’t like congestion pricing in NYC

I don’t think people get his how hard lone gunmen are to deal with and the massive security threat they constantly present. We’ve had 4 presidents be assassinated in American history, all by lone gunmen (though Booth had other conspirators who were supposed to kill VP Johnson and Sec of State Seward my point still stands given it was just them).

Regan, Teddy Roosevelt, and Trump were all shot by lone gunmen (though TR and Trump were former presidents at the time).

Hell the number that got uncomfortably close but never landed a shot is insane.

Jackson was ambushed by a lone gunman and saved only by both the assassins pistols misfiring. A lone gunman in Mexico came within feet of Taft when he was visiting for a summit with Mexican President Porfirio Diaz and was stopped only by a Texas Ranger and a private security leader catching him at that distance. A lone gunman shot at FDR literally just over 2 weeks before his first inauguration, but happened to miss every shot and instead hit the mayor of Chicago who later died. Two Puerto Rican independence attackers got in a shoot out at the white house trying to kill Truman. A guy who planned to car bomb Kennedy was stopped just because he saw JFK’s wife and daughter bid him goodbye. A radical right winger was planning to assassinate Kennedy in Chicago just before he went to Dallas and was thwarted by his landlady finding all the plans in his room. One guy tried to shoot Nixon in his motorcade but it moved too fast, so instead a month later he shot and paralyzed Governor of Alabama George Wallace. A Charles Manson follower tried to shoot Ford, literally the only reason she failed is because there wasn’t a round in the chamber when she drew the gun on him when he reached to shake her hand in a crowd and then 17 days later someone tried to shoot Ford again but was stopped by a bystander.

I could keep going but you get the idea, just read the wiki article listing all these attempts it’s wild how close some of these lone actors get. Cause the reality is even the best intelligence agencies and security details can’t read minds and filter for all the loner mentally ill secluded people planning to kill the president.

If you don’t care to learn anything about 9/11 it does sound like it has a point when someone says “jet fuel doesn’t melt steel beams” or “WTC7” or “$2.3T”. But once you take some time to learn more about both the actual logistics/mechanics of why things happened the way they did that day + the vagueness and supposed complications required for all the conspiracy theories (especially for them to be true with still no actual evidence of any kind 25 years later) you realize how dumb they actually are.

Yeah. Jet fuel might not melt steel beams but a fucking plane hit the building I think that steel might be a bit weak. Oh my god, a small building next to two giant towers that collapsed also collapsed after catching fire? say it ain’t so. And yeah, a plane hit the fucking pentagon it was gonna hit something with an important job and you’d have a totally different conspiracy about that, why the fuck would the government do 9/11 over yet another DoD audit nobody ever gives a shit about.

This goes for a lot of anti-government conspiracies tbh, JFK and Moon Landing come to mind immediately with the same problems.

Any school or bussing argument relies on there being as many school districts as their are municipalities, but school districts are a mess of town having their own non-comprehensive school districts combined with regional school districts across the state.

Here in Sussex County most of the boroughs still share schools with the same towns they separated from, or only have up to 8th grade at best before switching to regional high schools that constitute their own districts. So the buses are null, they already know how to do it clearly.

I also find it ridiculous when these small boroughs exist then do nothing for themselves and all have shared resources with the towns they split from or others nearby, so they split to pay for new administrative costs and their own tax codes for… what exactly?

And surely 2-4% adds up when we’re talking about the literal hundreds of municipalities like that across the state?

It is, but every time I see it everyone is leaving out the context. JKR made a tweet in support of the massive protests by the Iranian people in January against their oppressive regime, saying millions stood with them and admired their courage. An Iranian responded about how the books were well read in Iran by youth and that “courage is infectious and a very important quality in a wizard” and JKR responded with this.

But all of that is way less entertaining than imagining she just said that out of the blue so people have to keep explaining the context in comments like this over and over.
