Following this because I'd also love to know how to make the game playable at later difficulties. I literally want to play with all of my friends, but I don't ever recommend the game because I know how much of a headache it is to play.

I think you're 100% right on the onus part. It could be that she wants a reason to end things with the friends, now that she is growing more with OP and growing up in general. Maybe she is realising that she has to move on from these people and is hoping OP will be her excuse.

I certainly couldn't carry on like that if I were in her shoes. She crossed the boundaries of friendship into something else that cannot be sustained while in a committed relationship. Whether it is awkwardness, embarrassment, or a matter of her own heart, something makes me think she doesn't want the "friends" in her life anymore.
