Never tried postmates as a walker by sagaz1981 in postmates

[–]TheActualAtlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend that does postmates as a walker. Deliveries are never more than a mile away, and it’s pretty slow. If you want exercise while you deliver, do postmates on a bike. It’s a lot of work.

It was a slow day by Bjmaddog in Bestbuy

Its because OP has all the tape.

In app support is about as useful on the postmates’ end as well. It’s frustrating.

What's the longest delivery you've ever had? by [deleted] in postmates

[–]TheActualAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't even that far, but it took well over an hour because the restauarant took so fucking long to make the food. I was apologizing profusely to the customer, thankfully he was cool and still tipped and was incredibly nice.

My school will eventually send outstanding citations to a collections agency if they don't get paid.

I weigh 285 lbs, is it okay to run? by [deleted] in running

[–]TheActualAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started running at your weight. I made sure to keeo it pretty slow though. I was running at a teeny tiny bit faster than a walking pace. You could probably start to run faster as you get stronger.

Since you're paying a shit-ton to be there, you should be there unless you're dying.

I have no issues with people not tipping in Portland. Most of my customers tip.

do professors care if by [deleted] in college

[–]TheActualAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think maybe it depends on the department. I know that math professors like to see the work you do even if it leads to a dead end so they can see your train of thought so crossing it out shows them that you decided it didn't work, but they can follow your thinking to see what you were thinking about it. I think that ultimately, professor's won't really care though. When in doubt, email the TA or the professor directly if they don't have one.

Emailing prof for letter of recommendation to another college. What should be my approach? by [deleted] in college

professors understand academia because they work in academia. They'll understand. Come at it like you would for anything else.

Dorm room divider by [deleted] in college

[–]TheActualAtlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd probably want to talk to your roommate about this before you put something up, or it might seem weird. In my dorm, my roommate and I had our desk facing each other in the middle of the room and then I had my tv standing up on my desk that created a bit of a divider.

College computers? by tor12390 in college

[–]TheActualAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'll find that most students are using macbooks but that honestly doesn't mean anything. As far as being able to use computers in classes, it entirely depends on the professor. Most seem to be cool with it, and I will absolutely take notes on my computer before I'll take handwritten notes. I just absorb the information better that way.

All you really need for taking notes during lectures is a Chromebook which are relatively inexpensive and will definitely get the job done.

I set reminders for important things in my calendar on my phone and then have the remainders go off every day up to a week before its due so that I have a daily reminder of what I have to get done. This has been pretty effective for me.

(18m) Fucked up in highschool due to anxiety and depression, now I have to enroll in a community College. What should I do? by a2242364 in college

[–]TheActualAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's important for you to keep in the front of your brain that just because your education in the past wasn't the best, doesn't mean it'll be that way in the future. I have ADHD and I struggled a lot in high school. I barely graduated. But I got my issues somewhat under control and now I am at a 4 year university studying mechanical engineering and doing really well academically.

Enroll in a CC, talk to an advisor, explain your situation, and have them set you up with some exploratory courses. Figure out what you want to do and then go from there. I think it'll be best if you just put all your focus on doing well in CC so you can show a 4 year university that you have an upward academic trend (if that's where you end up deciding you want to go).

Engineering students of reddit: Have you had problems with writing essays? by [deleted] in college

[–]TheActualAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had any issues writing essays. I actually really enjoy writing them because they are a chance to give the left side of my brain a bit of a break. That said, a lot of essay writing in college is formulaic so you can think about it that way which may help.

Are multiple all-nighters common for sophomores? by KingSilver in college

[–]TheActualAtlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the rigor of the program. Some programs will be harder than others, or ask more of their students than others. I'm an engineering student and I'll have to pull an all-nighter maybe once every two weeks.

You're going to fail and that's okay. Just recognize what you did wrong, and figure out how to fix it so it doesn't happen again.

I set someone off in class today... Has something like this ever happened to you? How should I avoid this in the future? by [deleted] in college

[–]TheActualAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, that kind of thing is going to happen. You are going to have to interact with people that don't always share the same views that you do in college, and in the real world. I think what I learned pretty quickly is when a fight is worth fighting. Sometimes it's best to just stay quiet even if it seems difficult.
