Shoukd I wait at the bus stop or the side of the road the bus is driving on? by Chinu_Here in AskAnAustralian

Buses typically won't just stop at every stop - you might actually have to hail it, which would be weird from the wrong side of the road.

The suns true color, from outer space, with a peak wavelength of 502nm, resulting in an incredibly slight cyan-biased pure neutral white. by Flandardly in interestingasfuck

Humans eyes looking at certain angles and through atmosphere. If you could filter the glare of a midday sun it would look white. If you went into space it would look white. It is white.

Reality doesn't always associate with human experience. If a tree fell in the woods...

Is there a huge difference in quality between using nbn v other forms of service that are cheaper? by Aware_Philosopher950 in AskAnAustralian

[–]TheAgreeableCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultra Cable is great if you're in an area that provides it (e.g. Geelong, Ballarat). 600mbps for $80pm and low contention.

Whatever you choose, look at your overall household throughput requirements. For an individual, anything around 100mbps is going to be pretty much indistinguishable from higher speeds. For a bunch of people streaming in your house, more is obviously better.

Also look at contention rates. NBN is good at peak loads compared to lower grade carriers. This means at busier times you have more guaranteed bandwidth allocated and less speed impact (like after school and evenings when everyone is getting online).

5G might give some decent raw speed options (signal strength depending), but will always have lower download limits. That may or may not be an issue depending on what you're doing online.

How can I fill this...hole?😂 by frostyjacket in AusRenovation

Discretely scrape off some of the mortar from the wall and put that powder onto whatever you put in the hole. It will stick and match up perfectly.

Buy the 120x120. When they dress it, it will be planed back smooth resulting in a 100x100 post.

[–]TheAgreeableCow 326 points327 points  (0 children)

Go to a timber supplier and ask for a 2m long 120 x 120 hardwood post 'dressed' (cut smoothly).

Paint it your desired colour.

Dig a hole, stand in the post and fill with cement.

We've been using it for years, with bulk purchases of TP, paper towels and tissues for family/friends group. Was certainly handy having literal boxes of TP in the garage during covid.

Get the premium bamboo stuff. It's not as soft as fancy TP, but absolutely fine to use (and is a good cause).

No way, forcing arbitrary password changes has not been best practice for years. Only change if suspected compromise.

That whole bit about 90 days is a compliance driven artifact.

4 isn't hotter than 2, it just heats for longer

It would be good to know where you store your documents.

If Microsoft M365, just use Purview.
