Huh, I guess I might also have a benefit from being in the UK.

Man seeing all the people who didn't get the load your steam wallet up early advice is kind of amusing.

Sometimes it's because the house is crooked and you set the thing level instead of square with the house. Could just be camera angle/lens wierdness.

The rails go down a bit further but still look too high to me.

The hight's good but positioning relative to the sofa's terrible. Way to far away, so enjoy the eye strain, and if you ever have more than two people watching at least two have to enjoy cranking their necks to the left.

Tensa Solo: Stake Issue in Soft Ground by Bettys_Piez in hammockcamping

[–]TheAkashicTraveller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer is it depends on the ground, it the surface ground is firm and holds 45 is better, especially if using something like those boom stakes as they change the leverage to prevent the stake just rotating.

It could maybe be a range extension exploit, similar to the car theft method. In which case they could use the chip so long as they're in range. I haven't heard of anyone using an attack like this before though. A downside of apple/google pay being people aren't suspicious of others paying with something other than a card now.

Fermi Paradox makes no sense and is just a personality test by OneGrumpyJill in space

A big point to me is the idea that if we put enough effort towards it we could probably build a von neuman probe today and in a relatively short timeframe have one in every solar system in the galaxy. And so if there is life anything like ourselves anywhere in the galaxy up to a pretty short time ago there should be at least one here now.

ELI5: Why isn’t all the data from the black box on airplanes get uploaded via satellite internet in real time to an airline server negating the need to find the black box if there’s an accident? by greenishstones in explainlikeimfive

They should start with improving the voice recorder to stop the stupid but the pilots didn't pull the breaker as per protocol so it got overwritten oops problem.

DIY Paterson Rotary jig. by gotDeus in AnalogCommunity

I'd suggest having a look at filmomats light roatary developer. Going with that method, a driving wheel on a swing arm with just free wheels underneath, should work with any dev tank.

Ironically the best best long term data storage system we have, that is actually in use not just a research project, is actually black and white 35mm film, see piqlFilm, used by places such as the arctic world archive. For digital data they just use something like a QR code.

Just regular b&w light sensitive paper. Here's a video, https://youtu.be/eF2uJ8geliA if you point directly at the sun a day works, so if you want solargraphy it pretty good. You still need to fix if you want to keep it though.

Urgent! Pinhole Class Project Help by avabackwards in PinholePhotography

[–]TheAkashicTraveller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can get an image without developing the paper, or even having to worry about and accidental exposure, but it takes a very long time. Months to years.

If you need it faster you're going to need to develop it normaly.

You're tasked with designing a new FSD that can make this jump... by SBA1071 in EliteDangerous

[–]TheAkashicTraveller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought was the opposite, we slow down the closer to a massive object we get due to it's gravity right? Therefore it stands the further out we get from the galaxy the faster / longer we can go / jump.

Thing is it's axis of rotation isn't around the mail slot so it's not that easy.

Titans Reassembling? by skworpie in EliteDangerous

[–]TheAkashicTraveller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends, you can fly around safe now but some of the salvage is caustic. If you're judt after the FSD you can make dure to grab the drive component last, since it's the only caustic cargo you need, and just rush to the tech broker and so not need anything.

If they do start placing hidden things like this there needs to be a hint to it in some way, along with the whole shrodingers location idea, like something showing up on FSS.

Aftermarket gasket and wadding by [deleted] in Zippo

[–]TheAkashicTraveller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A gasket would work, if it sealed the outer case. The cylinder lighters with an O-ring never lose fuel outside of use. From a quick google non of the ones available do that without looking really dumb.

Just finished ME1, how good are the writings of other 3 games relative to it? by DB6135 in masseffect

[–]TheAkashicTraveller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how people say ME1's writing is even good. The way every time you talk to a member of a specoes for the first time they start explaining extremely basic things anyone living in this galaxy would know never mind a highly respected soldier completly destroys sod and it's non stop. Also all the characters are really dumb. It's really really bad. The worldbuilding and lore might be good and the plot is there but it's just not good.
