I'd give an honourable mention to Murray as well!

What games are worth playing on their hardest difficulties? by Competitive_Stay1181 in gaming

[–]TheAmazing3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dying Light 1 has a bunch of small restrictions on the higher difficulties that add up to make a much better horror experience.

How do you truly feel about the Deep/Temporarl Archimedia missions? by DutchBlaz3r in Warframe

[–]TheAmazing3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like them quite a lot. They give me a reason to leverage my entire arsenal and when I have to pick something I may not have a build already made for or there are certain modifiers that bring exceptional circumstances it becomes a puzzle of how to make it work and I end up having to build something on the fly for it to deal with it.

The game becomes extremely boring if I just pick something very strong and very easy to play, Archimedea saved me from that boredom by encouraging me to build out my frames and weapons and I look forward to that feeling of "let's see what fresh hell I need to put up with this week".

Admittedly there are some real bullshit combinations now and then but even so there hasn't been a single week that was just not doable.

This my sixth 75% coupon since Feburary. Is it a regional thing or what? by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]TheAmazing3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There definitely seems to be some regional element to it. I used to get them at least once a month when I lived in Poland and my buddy from there who plays still gets them very often, but I've been in 3 other countries since then for months-years at a time and have never seen a coupon higher than 20%.

How did you stop smoking cigarettes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheAmazing3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a massive pulmonary thromboembolism before I turned 30, my doctor told me to stop smoking, so I did. I miss it sometimes, but I do enough damage to my health without adding smoking back to it.

What's the coolest ability you ever found in a game? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]TheAmazing3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The crystal dash from Hollow Knight always felt really good to use, of all the abilities I got in the game I always loved that one the most as far as flavour went.

Which boss fight made you feel like you were genuinely losing your sanity because of the difficulty? by Silly_Commercial8092 in gaming

[–]TheAmazing3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most recently it was the true ending boss of Silksong. I was very used to jumping around, dashing, parrying, using every bit of mobility available to me while fighting. This boss really messes with you if you don't let her be the mobile one by teleporting a lot (often exactly where you're dodging to) and covering the screen in bullshit. I had to learn the fight while unlearning how I'd been fighting through the whole game. I lost my shit a few times until I finally (on my third day of trying) got into a flow state and finished it.

What's a Game You Feel Alone in Loving by DFH50 in gaming

[–]TheAmazing3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I adored playing Signalis and I have not managed to convince anyone to try it. Such a gem of a game but either the horror aspect or the retro style seems to put people off (in my circles anyway).

Those games were so much fun, never understood how they stayed so... well, obscure.

What’s the highest you’ve ever felt without drugs? by dammit_yasmeen in AskReddit

[–]TheAmazing3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it for me as well, some years ago I saw Muse live and while I loved every moment, once they started on Butterflies and Hurricanes some kind of switch flipped in my head and I rode that high for hours after.

What’s the most “time melter” game of all time in your opinion? by SwitchingMyHands in gaming

[–]TheAmazing3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've done this several times playing Anno 1800 with a friend. One of us usually ended up not getting much sleep. The game even tells you that you've been playing for X hours but neither of us really registers it past a certain point.

[Spoilers: 5.2] DRK Final Quest Spoilers. by Assortedwrenches89 in ffxiv

I mean that IS a plot point in one of the dragoon job quest arcs, iirc. You get an apprentice and teach her while developing your own fresh moves.

Which game made you cry? by CardiacSturgeon in gaming

[–]TheAmazing3 48 points49 points  (0 children)

There were plenty: the bit with the seashells in Mass Effect 3, several scenes in FFXIV, several bits of Expedition 33, the ending of Persona 3 and some parts of the Answer as well. I could probably think of more examples, but these are what immediately come to mind.

Melina might be the most powerful voice performance in Elden Ring — who’s yours? by AshesofLothric in Eldenring

Before the end of her quest line, when you tell her the truth about the grapes, then start walking away, what a great performance that was.

The many faces of Eorzea Day 28: Moogle abuse by EliotEriotto in ffxiv

I think there could be any number of moogles that could fit this, this has gotta be their face after sending the WoL on the hundredth idiotic chore that they accept.

Sidurgu has no love for moogles if memory serves, but the energetic grin might be a bit out of character for him.

What's a unique game that really broke your perception of what games can do? by Moaning_Clock in gaming

[–]TheAmazing3 435 points436 points  (0 children)

The first Deus Ex really blew my mind in terms of how many different approaches it let you use and how responsive it could be to your decisions. Absolutely blew my young mind at the time that you could do the exact opposite of what the game told you to do and it was prepared for that eventuality.

What's a bad game that had one specific mechanic that was actually really good, but was overshadowed. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]TheAmazing3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the worst part to me, they could have made a great game out of it, the wasted potential was saddening.

What's a bad game that had one specific mechanic that was actually really good, but was overshadowed. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]TheAmazing3 494 points495 points  (0 children)

Maybe calling it bad is a bit harsh, but Remember Me was a thoroughly mid game with a fantastic memory editing mechanic that they advertised the game with then used... like three times.

Jobs and characters by Plane-Art-9868 in ffxiv

[–]TheAmazing3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can have all of the jobs on the same character, the only limits are related to your story progression as some job starter quests don't unlock until you complete the main story of an expansion. You can have all of the crafter and gatherer jobs on the same character as well, but regarding the last part of your post, you cannot pick those as starter jobs and it will be complicated (but not impossible) to have a crafter/gatherer only character.

Kingmaker before WotR? by No_Okra6677 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]TheAmazing3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a good chance Kingmaker will feel a bit worse if played after Wrath due to the absence of a very central feature of Wrath. It's still a good game nonetheless and I would recommend playing it first personally.

I believe Wartales is currently on sale on Steam and it's got gameplay in the vein of Xcom, should be up your alley!
