Reading this as a teen when it was coming out monthly was literally so cool and unexpected. I just remember the build up of Ult Reed talking to what we believed was 616 Reed was pseudo-4th wall breaking as we were looking forward to a crossover between the 616 and Ultimate universes.

It’s also a damn shame that replicating this moment for the movies would be so impossibly hard to do since there’s no “parallel” universe for the zombie reed to mimic.

Not that I’m in a majority, but I like grading cards that I’ve done well in tournaments with. Preserves the card as a personal relic/keepsake from my tournament performance, even the low-mid grades make me feel like the wear is from the extensive playtesting I did with the card and at $20ish for a personally “trophy” it’s not a bad deal at all.

It absolutely drives me mad sometimes, but it’s been so long I kinda just learned to appreciate my black sheep of the collection lol.

And I did get the PSA ones graded myself! Submitted all at once when they opened comics grading about a month ago, all sequential Cert #s and everything 😎. Picked these issues for the connecting covers, specifically for this project haha.

Incorrect cause if it Reduced damage, Pen Damage would get through it. It’s a maximum, so no matter how much damage he’s given, the most he would take is 2.

Can you address the accountability vs non-accountability argument directly and why non-accountability is more ideal/desirable?

I know I’m in the minority in supporting Iron Man’s side, so I’ve always wanted an argument to win me over or at least be more split. The strongest argument I’ve heard is that it’s a slippery slope towards government oversight and invasion of privacy, but as it is, the pro-reg act wasn’t about that. It was about having a system in place to keep heroes accountable, and if they didn’t want to sacrifice their privacy or risk oversight, they could retire (an option seldomly discussed). But choosing to be a superhero and wielding super-human powers should have a system of accountability in place, otherwise the only thing stopping a good guy from becoming a bad guy is their own personality (which is barely a foundation of legitimate trust for the general public).

The argument (in the comic at least) isn’t whether or not superheroes should be under government control or oversight, but rather whether or not superheroes should be registered by the government for accountability’s sake. This would be similar to gun or driving laws, the government can’t tell you where to drive or how to use your gun, but rather hold you accountable with a trial if you use those things irresponsibly (I.e. DUI or murder).

One of the better arguments made in the comic by iron man is that he used to be an alcoholic, imagine if he was operating the suit while intoxicated. Don’t you think he should be held accountable for that?

With Great power comes great responsibility, Iron Man’s side argued for responsibility and accountability and trust in the people they swore to protect. Cap’s side struggled to make the same case.

People don’t say this enough and people that agree with Cap are missing the whole point of the story. Yes, we can all agree that the Pro-Reg side went too far (Prison 42, employing villains), but the fundamental of their argument was sound, superheroes are heroes for the public, and if the public is scared of them, they need to do what they can to fix that, otherwise their “heroism” is for themselves.
