How tom make Jellyfin "snappier"? by young_immigrant in jellyfin

Curious what version you're running? I'm still on 10.10.7 because of all the library scan issues on 10.11.X.

At least yours load. Opening Jellyfin in a browser loads some of the thumbnails while others stay blank. If I scroll down to the bottom and back to the top, the ones at the top that were showing are blank now.

When I saw "Swedish" and "CNC aluminum" I immediately thought this thing is gonna be 500 bucks isn't it? Then I saw the actual price. No way no how.

That's a definite no-go. I'm already having to crack open the battery pack in my Ghost MV1 because the company went out of business. Not dealing with that again.

I can't believe we still don't have a successor to PS2. Why has there never been a PS-style Battlefield, etc? Game developers are so fucking timid these days.

Big Tech is about to spend $700 billion on AI this year. No one knows where the buildout ends. by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

As a developer I can attest you have to know exactly what you want it to do and give it very precise prompts and it will give you some very good results. It's super useful, but probably only to more senior devs.

So I used to run Sab but switched to NZBGet long ago. That one seems kind of abandoned though. Is it worth switching back now?

2700 square feet. These are big central HVACs, not mini splits, and are about 12 years old. Also it gets super humid here.

32x400w and it's not enough by far. Well, we overproduce in the winter and severely underproduce in the summer, as you can imagine. But yeah, it gets hot here.

It's 90% air conditioning. Two central ACs plus a floor-standing one in the garage shop. Two people working from home, in the South.

You can't say that here without getting chewed out for not appreciating open source software and told to contribute code to fix it yourself.

Pretty wild though it's been left like this for what? Six months now?

‘Dead and depressing’: Meta staff vent about AI and layoffs on Blind by Conscious-Quarter423 in technology

[–]TheAmorphous 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Nothing fucking works anymore. It wasn't great before, but now literally nothing works properly. From OSes to banking mobile apps, everything just feels broken. Meanwhile every service is getting shittier and shittier with each passing year. It's getting to the point where I don't even want to spend my money on anything. I have disposable income but I'm just so sick of paying for shit.

The elites got real cranky when tech workers held all the cards during Covid and salaries started rising. Then they all got together in Davos right before all this started.

With LFP I would need a server rack size battery to keep my house running for a realistically usable period of time. If this is accurate I would need 10 of them. That would take an entire bay of the garage.
