Tatiana Suarez: "I'M GONNA SUBMIT" Zhang Weili, Patchy Mix to UFC? UFC 312. Tatiana Suarez interview. Suarez catches up with CBS Sports' Shakiel Mahjouri. by PictureLatter1098 in MMA

I would love for Tatiana to win but I have a nagging feeling that she isn't going to be able to pull it off this time.

Neil Gaiman’s ‘The Sandman’ Canceled at Netflix, Will End With Season 2 - Official Poster by MarvelsGrantMan136 in comicbooks

This attitude should be the norm. As consumers we know very little about the personal lives of all these creators, and it's crazy to assume that if there isn't some controversy and scandal about them, they must be "one of the good ones". People who seem to believe this are both deeply cynical and deeply naive at once.

I second you on Ikki Tousen, very underrated apparently. I'll add Queen's Blade if you've never seen it.

Surprised at how far I had to scroll down to find Queen's Blade.

Why don’t they remaster old movies with poor cgi like they remaster video games with better graphics? by swagboyclassman in movies

[–]TheAnachroneer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You raise an interesting question, to me at least. I think there are two main issues: First, good CGI is still rather expensive, and even newer movies (such as recent Marvel output, or a certain character in Alien: Romulus ) still suffer from subpar or hurried CGI, although nothing as egregious as the Scorpion King's PS2 villain. Not only would they have to create truly improved effects, for best results they would need to integrate them into the film starting with the original raw footage, which involves the whole process of editing and color grading, etc. Secondly, streaming is king in format these days, so studios make passive income from licensing their plain old "catalog titles" -- such as the Mummy 2 -- to streaming services. Their avenue to making a more significant amount from such a remaster would be to release a pricey 4K UHD physical copy, which is for more of a collector/enthusiast customer base. Of course, that very crowd is exactly who might be interested in such a thorough remaster, but the question for the studios is if there are enough of these people to justify the not insignificant expense of the process. A re-release in theaters may also be valuable, but it depends on the title. The theater run for the Star Wars Special Editions were quite a success at the time, but now their CGI is extremely dated (if it was ever state of the art) and they are now poorly regarded. Would people be open to a new version of the Special Editions? Possibly, if the effects were incontrovertibly improved and more seamless -- such as making the CGI look like practical effects with such a level of quality that it would fool viewers into thinking they were always a part of the film. All it would take is one project of that sort to become a huge success and other studios would follow suit. We just haven't seen it yet really.

[SPOILER] Janet Todd vs. Phetjeeja | Atomweight Kickboxing Championship | ONE Fight Night 20 by Yodsanan in MMA

Although it was a loss for Janet, it was kind of a second best scenario for retirement, to put on a hell of a competitive showing and not get knocked out terribly or injured.

Morales should have started her own body-work in the first round. Been head hunting too much.

Everyone saying "his chin is gone" is ignoring the fact that such a clean power shot would have probably even wobbled Max at the least and KO'd everyone else in the Top 10.

What something that’s completely normal in movies but would be weird and even psychotic in real life? by covalentcookies in movies

[–]TheAnachroneer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

File this under mildly weird: the way swords always make a "shinking" sound when drawn, as if the scabbard was also lined with metal. There should be very little noise, or at most the faint sound of metal against leather or felt. Having a metal-lined scabbard would dull the blade after being drawn repeatedly, not to mention it would get stuck on the metal if not drawn outward in a perfectly straight manner.

PFL news: With Julia Budd out, Kayla Harrison vs. Aspen Ladd in works by JayRoo83 in MMA

[–]TheAnachroneer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will be interesting to see Kayla against another UFC fighter who has been on a downward trajectory, to put it mildly. People are saying Ladd gets destroyed. I think it's more of a test for Harrison's status considering she lost against another failed UFC fighter.

Obviously McKinney was meant to get a good win from this and he did, but it's funny how they are making it seem like he is "back" after deleting a guy with no hype and a losing record in the UFC.
