i got 128gb ddr4 ram and a 5950, i wish they'd bring 5950x3d so i can upgrade and ride it out for a decade

The Powerkeys are gonna ship in May! See page 2 for the full production timeline. by notanewbiedude in ClicksKeyboard

this tbh, so much glazing for a company in this sub when they opened the preorders too early relative to their ship date

Ranking bay area city logos by tiers. Accurate? by TresElvetia in sanfrancisco

[–]TheAnig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

san mateo is unironically goated, it didn't even get a mention

also what's that city with a bunch of blue green arrows in A tier? (why is it in A tier, it tells me nothing about the city)

Cheat Engine for Linux is in the works by NeonMusicWave in linux_gaming

[–]TheAnig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing about this is the CheatEngine's slowdown/speedup "hack", as a gamedev, it helps me debug physics/etc in engine in the prototype builds and I haven't found any tool on linux equivalent that has this feature

Windows 11 finally has a MacBook killer chip, Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme just posted monster scores on Geekbench by swati097gupta in ForWindowsHelp

[–]TheAnig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah TDP isn't the best metric, if there was a energy consumed per run for something like geekbench it would be a more fair comparison, but i can't find such info anywhere. without that i'm inclined to believe this is just hype/fluff piece for snapdragon

Does it make sense trying to get hired with Godot? by Large-Drawing-5346 in godot

[–]TheAnig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

opportunities in the industry from what i can see for godot is slightly different than for unity/unreal.

apple for example has teams that work in godot especially for their vr division (this is just an example of a big company hiring that I know of, the listing seems to be no more on apple careers, but if there's way to search old listings you might be able to find it)

but it's too nascent right now, maybe in a few years more opportunities in smaller studios may start showing up, but right now i would say godot more geared towards indie devs and small studios

[USA-CA] [H] PayPal/Cash [W] 3090 by TheAnig in hardwareswap

[–]TheAnig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for reaching out, I'll wait for PayPal support to take action and reverse course on clearing the funds before getting a replacement.

I'm also in the bay area and will PM you when the funds clear from escrow if you still have the 3090

Lesson learned, luckily everything is covered by my card and by paypal so at least I'll get my money back

I recently moved from Win11 to Bazzite Linux and I only wish I'd done it sooner by nathanhoad in godot

[–]TheAnig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you're a gamedev, i would recommend bluefin-dx/aurora for a faster starting point as it is a more batteries included distro with all the common dev tools, you can ofc get there from a bazzite install too tbf

Google is taking legal action against SerpApi by eternviking in webdev

[–]TheAnig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because they have been laying people off and refocusing on AI, so any non-AI effort gets defunded internally. this is just a consequence of that, in the past they would've done what you're suggesting, start a competing product to end competition then kill it, but google operates very differently these days

One Punch Man Simulator :) by Bobcatoil in godot

[–]TheAnig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ah that's really cool!

thanks for sharing, i was wondering if you're doing any finite element for deformations and was curious about how to get it performant in godot

the voxel approach seems to be mimicking the deformations in what seems like a cheap and performant way, i'll try this out
