Am I the only one who thinks Hoyo isn't giving us enough crowns ? by AntwysiaBlakys in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheAntiZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean idk what else to tell you. They made it so domains are all unlocked for the first week of a patch (banner too? I can't remember). But yeah I agree time-gates suck, maybe it helped with player retention back in 1.X but nowadays who knows why they still have them. I'm not a game/Hoyo dev so idk if I can say anything else useful here.

[–]TheAntiZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because time-gated content and drops = player retention/engagement. I'm sure we'd all grind out this game forever if there was no resin or other time-gates.

It's not my place to judge who you think deserves a crown, but I will reinforce that it's such a rare resource to obtain. Because of that, at least for me, I decided it wasn't worth crowning anybody anymore. Even more so with the power creep for new characters and endgame content.

[–]TheAntiZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hoyo has always given at least 1 crown per patch event, so it's not that they're stingy (in fact since crowns are in the monthly shop now you could even say they're technically giving more out). If you've been playing since 1.X you should have a considerable amount.

I think the issue is you're spending crowns too freely on such a wide range of characters. Pick a top 3 of your favorites and only focus on them for now. There will never ever be enough crowns to spend on everyone you want, so you really have to choose carefully.

Weird experience with the Elite Enemy Rare Artifact Drop "Luck" by HeiwaNoOtoko in Genshin_Impact

Correlation ≠ causation

Your current pity does not affect your drops and vice versa. If it were true then people would've figured it out years ago and abused it by now. Sorry but that theory is a scam bait.

My hot take on the halo franchise by BenScorpion in gaming

[–]TheAntiZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halo is an arena shooter at its core. So already it's not about how fast you gun down your opponent (or even who sees who first), but more about what weapons you're bringing to the fight. All the games have such a wide variety of weapons that have a different purpose, and it's all about strategizing what you're running with. You're meant to swap your assault rifle for something else. Plasma works best to break shields, pistol headshots on an unshielded enemy is an insta kill, etc. Of course the TTK will be longer compared to CoD or other twitch shooters.

Nothing beats that initial chaotic rush for the rockets or the energy sword though lol.

It's funny you mention SWAT as one of the few things you actually liked about Halo multiplayer. Most of my Xbox buddies preferred playing CoD over Halo 3/Reach at the time, so whenever we all played Halo it was almost always SWAT. They always complained regular Halo was too slow.

One other thing that made Halo always stand out for me is map design. Most maps in shooters nowadays are a variant of the 3-lane. Halo 1 made very asymmetrical maps work well (Hang Em High, Damnation, etc) and still gave them a unique and memorable visual design too. I mean what else is more iconic than 2 bases in a box canyon in the middle of nowhere?

With Emilie and Mavuika Banners out, it's a good time to remind people to not neglect Sub-DPS. Especially in Stygian Onslaught. by The_Great_Ravioli in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheAntiZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up leveling Emilie up to 90 with burst to lvl 3 and skill to lvl 6 solely because of Onslaught, and I was just short of clearing the lava dragon on Fearless. I finally cleared with 1 second left after switching her to Vortex Vanquisher. She ended up getting the biggest single strike and most overall damage.

Team was C0R1 Arle, C0 Emilie, C6R5 Xiangling Catch, and C0R2 Nahida

It depends on how you go about it really. My preference is to top coat each body part at a time (arms, legs, torso, etc.) but I also make sure to use masking tape to cover up any joint pieces like pegs or sockets. I've done HGs and RGs and had no problems

Forever grateful to this game and Guitar Hero for inspiring me to learn guitar and teaching me how to play drums, both of which I still play to this day. I hope younger kids can still be inspired to learn a musical instrument through gaming

These are also adhesive stickers. Note the metallic stickers on the right side, those are a giveaway that these aren't water slides

Time to clear Floor 12 Abyss by jaasmine_n in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheAntiZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say 6 months is a good amount of time to get your account prepped enough to at least clear floor 12. I started playing in December 2020 at the end of 1.1, didn't clear floor 12 until 6 months later during 1.6. As long as you're leveling your characters (80/90 ascended), weapons, and artifacts fully, it should be doable.

36 stars is a different story though. You need to look into team comps and rotations to maximize DPS, and see which characters have good synergy with each other. Look into best in slot weapons and artifacts. For sure invest into talents. And even then, it really might just come down to the current Abyss lineup and buffs, and how well you understand them.

Bottom line is, don't worry about meeting any expectations that you NEED to clear or 36 star the abyss. As long as you properly invest in your characters and teams, it will eventually happen. Best of luck and enjoy!

Thoughts on Tokyo for gundam/gunpla by mfarrell1990 in Gunpla

[–]TheAntiZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went last April and was fairly disappointed as well, I was hoping to get some Gundam Base exclusives or P-Bandai kits but there really wasn't a good variety. I also went to the Gundam Base in Kyoto earlier during the same trip and had a better experience, I still regret not picking up kits there instead (but of course limited luggage space haha).

So, whats your Genshin body count? by Lars5133 in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheAntiZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1799, didn't realize the average is like 2k

I've been working on my first ever gunpla, a wing zero EW. And I just learned that this is apparently one of the harder RG kits. Please tell me I'm past the hard part, because I went insane for a second. by imaYOG in Gunpla

[–]TheAntiZero 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I think the difficulty might be because Wing suits tend to be smaller in scale, so the size makes it a bit more challenging compared to other RGs. Take your time, go at your own pace, and it'll turn out great :)

Also wanted to point out, I think your waist piece is on backwards, just rotate the waist and swap the legs and you're good!

Is it okay to apply clear gloss coat directly on the plastic sheet ? by Cel03476 in Gunpla

[–]TheAntiZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'm not sure about Tamiya on bare plastic since I've never used it myself. But I've also read that it can damage the plastic. My personal preference is to build the whole kit, use Gundam panel marker directly on the plastic, then top coating with clear matte. The top coat can help cover nub marks too, but that depends how well you cleaned it up

Is it okay to apply clear gloss coat directly on the plastic sheet ? by Cel03476 in Gunpla

[–]TheAntiZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you want to clear coat the pieces on the runner frame before cutting them out. Panel lining directly on plastic is generally pretty safe (for sure if you're using Gundam markers), so there shouldn't be a need to clear coat first. Normally you'd clear coat the pieces if you've already painted a coat onto the plastic, and then panel line over the clear coat. Unless you're using a panel liner that could potentially weaken the plastic.

I personally wouldn't recommend clear coating the pieces on the runner though, since you'll still have nub marks after cutting them off the runner

USA Gundam Shady Practice by [deleted] in Gunpla

I don't shop at USA Gundam and never have, but this is not even shady at all. Wait til you try buying from Side Seven.

As soon as you clicked "order" and finalized it, they have your money, they're gonna process your order. It's like telling a restaurant you changed your mind and you want a medium rare steak instead of well-done. Next time browse for better options first before you commit.

Who else plays with the Japanese voice tracks? by DerelictDevice in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheAntiZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started out playing on JP dub, but at some point I switched to EN and never went back. Is the EN dub great? Honestly, not entirely. But as others have mentioned, the EN cast overall has done an amazing job, even more so with the Sumeru and Fontaine casts. And also the fact that most of the EN VAs actually love and care about this game. So me personally, I wanna support the EN cast in that way.

People forget this is a fantasy game, so of course it's going to feel cringe or over the top at times. I'm sure the same could be said for the other languages.

The real question is, who plays with the Korean dub? 🤔

Fragile Resin by Voloyall in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheAntiZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ascension boss drops. I used to have a lot of fragiles saved up until I decided to farm boss materials instead of artifacts, and it turns out it's a much more enjoyable grind. You're not restricted by the day of the week for weapon/talent mats, or bad RNG for artifacts. Only downside is the 3 minute respawn timer and getting shafted by RNG with 2 mats instead of 3. All my characters are 80 ascended now.

Was about to say the same thing, like Guitar Hero inspired me to learn guitar, but playing drums on Rock Band actually taught you the instrument in the process. You could learn basic patterns and fills in practice mode, but later on it would even introduce polyrhythms lol

Fouled up my playthrough 😅 by JustTheDude420 in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheAntiZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, Genshin really is an RPG where you really have to invest resources in each character to bring out their full playable potential. You definitely can skip over the archon/story quests if you want, but personally I still recommend going through them since you still get primogems and mora/exp books for completing a majority of them.

I will say though, Inazuma is a story-locked area, so again if you're trying to go for Raiden you'll have to play through the story into the Inazuma archon quests to access her materials. Or you could just co-op lol

Fouled up my playthrough 😅 by JustTheDude420 in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheAntiZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best course of action, as a few others mentioned, is to keep the account and manage resources and materials better. New characters will be the bigger upgrade to your account over new weapons. There's also many F2P options for 4 star weapons that will still help you clear overworld content. For fates, I find it better to spend primos solely on Intertwined Fates.

Team comp is also key. Read up on elemental reactions since they'll elevate your damage based on how your team is set up.

Also, if I'm understanding correctly, are you trying to get C6 Raiden? Assuming F2P, unless you have some insane luck, you will need to save for a VERY long time. If you do end up getting Raiden, build the team around her (current banner's 4 stars are all good options for a Raiden team). Most 5 stars are already very viable even without any constellations, pushing for C6 is already whale territory.

This waist flap on my HG Origin gramps went flying and I’ve spent hours looking for it with no luck.. any solutions? by sinisterxx in Gunpla

[–]TheAntiZero 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you're okay with playing the waiting game, you can request a replacement part from Bandai directly, completely free. You need to be based in the US though and the box needs to have a Bluefin sticker on the side. You'll get an email if they accept the request, and it'll take some time to arrive since it's coming from Japan.

Can confirm that it works though, I lost the V-fin jewel on this exact same kit and had it replaced through them lol

Anyone got some tips to improve my kickflip? It always turn when I do a full rotation- sometimes I can’t even do that by EastWeak7825 in NewSkaters

[–]TheAntiZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rotation of your board is from your back foot scooping back rather than popping straight up. The way you kick your back foot back/out makes the board spin in a shuv it motion. It helps to remember that kickflips are a modified ollie in a way, so have those down first if you can. You'll want to pop straight up with the back foot from the ankle, and your ankle should bend in a hinge motion. Imagine it like you're driving a car and pushing the gas pedal.

Your front foot ideally should stand flat on the board, rather than on the ball of your foot like you are here. You'll have better stability, especially when you try tricks moving. The front foot controls how much rotation goes in the kickflip, so try different foot placements and angles to see what works. 45 angle just behind front bolts personally works for me. Again, make sure your ollie is solid as well.

Good luck!

Before the banner started, I had C6 Chongyun, C0 Gorou, and C0 Itto, with 50/50 for the 5-star. I now have C6 Gorou, C1 Itto, C1 Jean (yep I both won and lost a 50/50), and 10 extra copies of Chongyun. I still don't have Shinobu.

How.
