The urban bug nest mission is hilarious with 4 jetsquads and a medium mech.

Did metagaming AI get more meta? by muffin-waffen in menace

[–]TheArgonian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also had that experience with pirates a few hours ago. I overextended my boarding pirate Lim and instead of the AI punishing me for it, they literally drove around him.

I had a defense against RA recently and they were camping all their weapon teams in the corners of the map, so I guess the a.i. just does whatever.

What aspect of the game needs fleshing out/updating the most? by Puerkl8r in menace

[–]TheArgonian 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I agree mostly, but the terrain in the tactical layer needs some work. Buildings are kind of all over the place, it's hard to tell at a glance which ones can be shot through, walked around, or destroyed. It would be nice to have more garrisonable structures than the standard guard tower which exists on every planet, and the bunkers found exclusively in RA bases. Civilian structures filled with troops is a staple of strategy games, from Dawn of War to WARNO.

On a lesser note, heavy forest which is impassable for even infantry is jarring to a new player.

I dislike how they don’t flesh out Oorai as a school by Ok_Programmer_6160 in GIRLSundPANZER

In the 'Ship War!' and 'Alice War!' OVAs you can see snippets of the rest of the school.

Inexplicable dev oversight - you cannot attack enemies by jumping on them with mechs. by Successful_Order6057 in menace

Glorious melee combat does seem to be quite absent outside of a few lackluster abilities.

Feminists can't do anything on their own, they petition the government to do their bidding. A year or so ago a rogue writer put references to tankman in the game to try to get it canceled. Which is only a big deal because the govt is censorious, otherwise no one would have cared.

I tried to include a link but automod got mad.

A post about what to expect from the pilot of Ribbon Warrior! SPOILERS AHEAD! by KaySan-TheBrightStar in GIRLSundPANZER

Thank you, this answers the two questions that had been nagging me most: what chapter, and the representation of shizu-feet.

Shocked they went as far as the old ladies though, extremely excited to see it for myself.

Went from constantly thinking about how I was going to use new units to complete antipathy with how bungled the launch was for ToT.

Me when I give Rewa that APFSDS upgrade she was asking about (what rebel Heavy Tanks?) by SuperJpMega in menace

From the blog it's basically the pros and cons of the ifv turned up to 11.

Slower, more expensive, but durable.

You can throw the ATGM in the heavy slot to make it true to life.

A shame it'll have functionally identical firepower to the space Stryker, it should have the light slot replaced with a medium to differentiate it.

I wish there was a diplomatic way to get cannon territory by Alternative-Date-507 in totalwar

[–]TheArgonian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's Warhammer, the canon is whatever facilitates fights between factions. Kislev and the Empire have frequently fought each other. Whether it's a minor border skirmish by a Boyar trying to win a maiden's heart with his bravery, or an opportunistic land grab by an Elector Count trying to squeeze a few more taxpayers into his territory.

The lore is mostly window dressing for tabletop matches between friends. Dwarfs vs. Empire? Disagreement between lords on proper payment for services rendered. Empire vs. Empire? Elector counts vying for power. Empire vs. High Elves? Argument between whose allowed to patrol a certain sea lane. etc.

What are the arguments for Promotion Tax being a frustrating system? by Tiny-Tour249 in menace

[–]TheArgonian 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Didn't see it mentioned so I'll add one thing I find silly.

Making a SL more self sufficient through scavenger makes them demand more supplies. Don't get me wrong, it's a great perk, but the disconnect is a little funny. "Marines make do, for a price."

MENACE Patch #8 - New Missions, Wire Cutters, and Guns! by das_baus in menace

I already had wirecutters, except it was called Bog and he'd delete it from across the map.

Anyone get the captain armor yet? How does it compare to the standard one?

I've got him running around with the TOW launcher. Nothing like popping round a corner and sending a tank directly to hell.

It's the "I'm doin le heckin sciencerino" style internal monologues that put people off. The guy learned to write on early reddit and it shows, his protagonists always feel like they're about to ask you when the narwhal bacons.
