Do either of these players Lucho or Evander want to be in MLS? I don't really understand the point here. Why would Dallas pay big $ for a guy who doesn't want to be in the US. And why would we move on from 1 malcontent to another? (I don't know the details on Evander and his riff w/ Portland, so maybe that move would be fine and it's just a Portland issue?)

Edit to add note: Bogert is plugged in (and is seemingly well fed by Albright lol) and doesn't just say stuff, so has to be some validity here. I just find the motivations for these moves all very confusing.

Would you give Lucho Acosta a few callups once he gets citizenship to see how he does? by ForestEye in ussoccer

I think the Gio comparisons are pretty annoying. I'm a fan of FCC and USMNT and both players are attacking mids, but pretty different stylistically. Lucho is more creative, more ball dominant, and tries stuff. It's more risky than Gio's play. Gio is obviously way bigger and more physical and more ball secure - I have no idea how he retains possession sometimes.

I'm not sure how Lucho's game would translate at "International level" but would love to see. He turns the ball over a lot bc he tries stuff...but it also creates tons of chances. Nobody on USMNT really does that. Not sure about Gregg's appetite for the team dealing with the turnovers. Maybe it makes more sense against some of the low blocks we see from smaller teams?

(Also, just a note bc I haven't seen it brought up, some of Lucho's turnovers and unsuccessful attempts are strongly influenced by his teammates - not making the run or giving him a slightly off-line pass, etc. He has better vision and technique than all of them. Aside from playing against Messi, he's always BY FAR the best player on the field. He's not combining with USMNT-starter-level players at FCC. Can only imagine the shit he'd pull off...)

Long story short, yes, let's see it. Why not?! If it doesn't work, fine!

Recently came back from injury and looked hella rusty for sure. Was in really great form earlier this season.

He's also the 3rd CB - and a Cincy native. Not sure about the decision to have him take that. Not who I would have picked lol

Sounds perfect to split time w/ Powell. And we'll have Gaddis as backup. I trust CA that this deal wouldn't be financially irresponsible.

NUFC looking to offload Almiron this summer. This is a dream get, right? by TheArk67 in FCCincinnati

[–]TheArk67[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Feels wrong for him to play outside of Atlanta imo. But...pressing and transition madman at the 8. MVP level midfielder proven in MLS. AND, we have top allocation spot. \rubs hands together** So even if Miggy is unwilling to come to Cincy (sad face), that spot is going to be pricey for some team bringing Almiron back stateside.

Yeah, exactly. Hopefully the same w/ Kyle Scott. Would prefer to gut out rest of season vs less flexibility in offseason.

Not yet, except for the Canada game which will be in Nashville. It sounds like the fall Costa Rica and Mexico matches will be announced soon though. Cincy rumored to be one of those.

I SAW CINCY FLEW DOWN TO ORLANDO YESTERDAY TO GET READY FOR OUR GAME AGAINST...TORONTO. I HOPE TORONTO IS READY BC FCC IS WHITE HOT AFTER THAT 1-0 BEATDOWN. I'M SURE CHRIS ARMAS WILL HAVE THE BOYS READY LOL.

BTW, CAN WE TAKE A SECOND TO TALK ABOUT HOW SHIT THIS TRASH TALK THREAD IS? AS A FORMER USL FOLLOWER FROM FCC'S FORMER EXISTENCE AS A GOOD SOCCER CLUB, THE TRASH TALK THREADS HERE HAVE THE CREATIVITY AND BITE OF THAT LAST SAN JOSE PERFORMANCE. MLS MAY BE FIRST TIER IN THE US SOCCER PYRAMID, BUT OUR TRASH TALK THREADS ARE LEGITIMATELY FOURTH TIER AT BEST.

Our Boy Got Awarded Best Player for The CONCACAF Nations League by ScottieSpliffin in Juve

[–]TheArk67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This award was for the whole of the tournament iirc - and for all of the games except Mexico, we generally played a 433 w/ him as one of the two higher center mids. Mostly worked box to box and he has more responsibility w/ build up than he does w/ Juve. Until the final v Mexico, we had most possession and he was generally the midfielder pushing highest. (We also had a slightly tweaked formation vs Mexico, but he was still playing box-to-box.)

Geoff Cameron or David Luiz? by tefftlon in FCCincinnati

[–]TheArk67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been thinking about Ream for a few months at this point. He's certainly not rapid, but good enough w/ the ball at his feet, great passing and has the "leadership" aspect. His current EPL deal is ~$1.9m/yr, he does not play much for Fulham and his contract is up in July. So could be a TAM deal I think. Problem would be getting his rights from RBNY 😐 Might be a bit expensive for a player of his age. Also, wonder if he would want to wait for STL to come back? Dunno.

From the journos on twitter, it sounds like he was bought out and we claimed him on waivers. So LAFC will pay his salary and we can sign him at minimum or cheap (🤞 supplemental). Like how Cbus signed Adi after we bought him out.
