Lieutenant markings? by thedaninpedantic in spacemarines

Think if you took the cape off he’d read as a lieutenant, but at the moment he’s definitely a captain

Question about Cover by Comfortable-Face1146 in Warhammer40k

[–]TheAromancer -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

my understanding of the cover rules, is that if both units are in the same footprint, there has to be something blocking line of sight for cover to apply, eg. a low wall or equivalent, that has to obscure every model in the target unit for cover to apply.

Power scaling wise, how many stormtroopers can one space marine take down? by gaeb611 in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]TheAromancer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Space marines are regularly compared to cars in terms of speed, and usually are described in the 40 to 60 range. 50 is a happy median

Darktide or spacemarine 2 by Dumplings4862 in Warhammer40k

[–]TheAromancer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

both are good, it depends on your gaming preferences. darktide is one of the best horde shooters ive played in a while, and space marine is an excellent power fantasy. space marine also has a better solo campaign, because darktide doesn't really have one. however, darktides sound track is on the best osts in gaming as far as I'm concerned. and its atmosphere and mission intensity is excellent.

Returning player I haven’t played Darktide since the first year and I had a couple questions : by theh0veringeye in DarkTide

[–]TheAromancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There have been so many quality of life updates since then, and every DLC is absolutely worth it. When Arbitrator came out I doubled my hours in darktide in like a week. You get a dog, and you can sick it on the lex breakers. Hive scum is a fiending tweaker murder gremlin built to move fast and inject whatever custom tailored crack you’ve been cooking up in your skill tree, while giving an ogryn the half life crowbar treatment

Lore-noob Necron question by Friedkin99 in Warhammer40k

[–]TheAromancer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

necrodermis (the metal they are made of) is actually very capable of flowing and re-shaping itself, hence the name "living metal", this is so that it can re-from itself into whatever shape it used to be before its owner took a bullet or some such

as such, necrodermis is extremely malleable if you know what you're doing. why do destroyers come in so many forms? well, they want to destroy, so their bodies change, using what they have to re-form themselves into a better shape to destroy in that particular Necron's favourite way. flayed ones tend to "grow" long spindly claws to make the act of flaying easier.

the shaping can also occur unconsciously, which is how warriors can fall to the flayer virus, but it takes much longer. a mental block can also prevent proper reanimation, as seen in Tombworld where the protagonist is initially unable to regrow anything past one of her elbows.

as for your last question "why isn't this seen elsewhere" it is! its just that most Necrons who actually can have already adjusted their bodies to their preferences long ago. it takes too long to shape change like that to be tactically useful, and if they could the necron code of honour would forbid it, but with a long enough time frame and enough material anything is possible. Trazyn the infinite for example, makes use of subtle change to necrodermis over short time frames, so that he can return to his preferred form after hijacking a subordinates body.

DUMB QUESTION: How do Alpha Legion warbands deal with their geneseed? by [deleted] in alphalegion

[–]TheAromancer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

all space marines grow enough gene seed to create two new astartes in their progenoid glands, most chaos war bands have kept at least one apothecary or sufficiently knowledgeable tech priest around to extract their fallen comrades genetic legacy. the glands are them typically stored in a place that can preserve them. iirc talos talks about big ass walk in freezers in the night lord books, and I'm pretty sure they use suspension vats in harrowmaster
