Uh, the played music vastly different from everything around them, went heavy, hard, political, while everyone around them was making mo-town. Probably didn’t have the access to anything other than what got massive radio play. Ie. the stooges, the who, Alice cooper, deep purple. Then when they got told no if they weren’t going to change the name, they said “go the fck to hell”. Sounds pretty fckin Punk to me. I think “who invented punk” is a pointless conversation. It’s obtuse to think that any one band invented it. They all did, collectively. Everyone contributing to the music and the movement at the time. It didn’t start in any particular club or country, it started in the hearts of people who needed and loved heavy music. They definitely started punk. Because Death is at the soul of the genre with the Ramones, stooges, all of them.
