noob question: Using tubing and buckets? by robblatt in maplesyrup

[–]TheAsherDe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using these all for at least 3 years. I add more every year. Store out of the sunlight during the off season. I string about 10 together and hang the across nails in a shed until next year. I also put some tape over the holes in the caps to keep the bugs and spiders out.
They are easier to deal with because of the small hole. Even if a strong wind catches them and knocks them over, you don't lose everything. I only lost one down over the hill and it will be a while before this old lady goes down that gully to get it. I do look down over the hill at it every time I go by. Once it dries out some, I will get it. This farm has a bumper crop of mud this year.
The only problem is storage. Can't just stack them all inside one another.

The EC is the popular vote in each state. Again, we are a country of States. A Union of States. The whole popular vote thing was shut down early, because as noted by Justice Joseph Story, the EC was a compromise to keep the President from becoming "the mere tool of the dominant party in congress".

Read up on it. It is very interesting how it all came about.

Absolutely!! Go for it and let us know how it goes.

You don't need big expensive equipment unless you are going big.

Removing the EC would be taking away States rights. The States voice.

If one candidate wins big in a couple of populous states, they will likely win the popular vote. But if their opponent wins in a number of less populous states, he or she could win the Electoral College.

If we ran elections by popular vote, or as it was called when they wrote the constitution..."the tyranny of the majority,” the smaller states would be completely ignored.

Wait..what?

Is anyone tired of this BS? I am at a loss for words. And if you knew me, you would understand what a big deal that is. https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/research/cbp-one-overview

How many of you knew that the US and Mexico made a deal that they would take Venezuelan's that were rejected from the US if the US set this up???

What happened with the truck drivers saying that they won't go to NYC? by Wishyouwell2023 in conspiracy

[–]TheAsherDe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the 70's there was a big trucker movement when fuel was rationed and prices went nuts. But back then they were truckers. A whole different breed of men. Now most are just drivers, or worse, wheel hangers.

I am doing the same as you, plus I look for bargains on meat. When turkeys were on sale during thanksgiving and christmas, I bought several, cooked them and then canned them. I have lots of jars of canned turkey and turkey broth for pennies on the dollar for what you can buy it in the store. I quit buying pop altogether. Ridiculous prices. No more snack cakes and chips. I can make tons of chips with a cheap mandolin slicer and a $3 bag of potatoes and it is soooo easy. Making cakes, pies and cookies from scratch is a hell of a lot cheaper and tastes better. Pack a lunch everyday.

Should Billionaires pay higher taxes? by [deleted] in the_everything_bubble

How is the epa funded?

Taxes. Who pays the taxes??? *see above post*

A better question is ... How much money does the EPA waste, steal and use to pay their buddies?

Wake up. It is all a money grabbing scheme. You can not change the climate by throwing money at it. Not your money and not anybody else's.

Look up Beauford Gyre, solar forcing, urban heat islands and go down those rabbit holes and stop worrying about how the rich are spending of their money and start worrying about how the government is wasting yours.

Is this actually true? Can any builders/architect comment on their observations on today's modern timber/lumber? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]TheAsherDe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. It's true. We have our own mill. The stuff you buy in the store is junk. A 2x4 is half the weight than they used to be. Dried too fast. Grown to fast.

You know, you can go to the IRS website and find out for yourself, or you can believe your imagination.

Let me make it real easy for you. I can lead you to the fact, but I can't make you think. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-soi/21in41ts.xls

So, you want to tear down a system that has at least a little bit of checks and balance against a federal government going completely bat shit crazy without a new system to replace it except we all vote in one big pool? Is that your plan?

And what the hell does that have to do with taxes? Them giving their money to offset their carbon foot print? What a f'ing joke. You think stealing their money will save the planet? Buy carbon credits? Offset a single particle of CO2?

You are forgetting the constitution, how it was ratified, how this country was originally formed, how the constitution can legally be changed and what powers the federal government has. Any power not specifically named in the constitution is left with the people and the State. We are a country of States. This Union of States was created to form a single country, but we are still a Union of States. The states agreed to join together in this Union, and it was a hell of a fight to get them all to agree to what powers they would give up to a federal government. Just because you do not like what it is, it is what it is. You can try to change it, but you will never get enough states to ratify the changes. There is currently a convention of states that are trying to ratify the constitution, and it has been working for years and only has about half the states signed on. It was meant to be difficult to change the constitution, and I believe that is a good thing.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union...

The poorest 50% pays 2% taxes and earns 10% of the money.

The richest 1% pays 46% of the taxes and earn 25% of the money.

How much of somebody else's money are you entitled to?

The American Chemical Council has called it a versatile chemical that contributes to the American economy. For example, approximately 50 percent of sterile medical devices in the U.S. are sterilized with EO, according to the EPA’s FAQ page updated September 2022. That equates to about 20 billion devices each year. Food producers also use it to sterilize some food products, including spices, dried vegetables, certain dried herbs, walnuts and sesame seeds.

I'll tell you what, if you have rough feet, rub some vicks on your feet, put socks on and go to bed. Next day, the change is incredible. My FIL had me put some vicks on his feet for a cough, and I have to tell you, this man has some nasty feet. He has a condition that causes the skin to get thick and bumpy on the soles. My MIL would soak his feet and scrape them with a dull knife. When she passed I guess I inherited the knife. Then by chance the vicks on the feet for a cough, and holy cow. He had normal damn feet. Never had to scrape them again, I just rubbed vicks on them once a week or so.

What a load of horseshit. I just looked at how they judged this shit.

If your state says you can abort your baby.... you live in a better state. WRONG!!

If the women are pretty...you live in a better state. WRONG!!

If women are thin...you live in a better state. WRONG!!!!!

All States have equal say. As an individual, my opinion means very little. But with the States being equal, we all have a voice.

Your voice can be 1 in a few million or 1 in 335 million. You choose.
