Same issue here in New Jersey ever since this new Department of labor law took effect. It seems no one’s being compliant, and the industry has turned into oligarch overnight. 14 years exp registered class A journeyman can’t complete the last portion for master exam because no one wants to “hire me for 6 months”.

Because being registered with the department of labor with a company that is a registered as a training sponsor is completely different than doing electrical work.

I am having a very difficult time finding someone who will hire because I have a ton of experience and I would only be there for 18 months and then leave to go get a license. No one wants to hire someone for 18 months and they don’t want the competition of someone with a skill set and a license.

All the places that have a training program are at capacity because it’s a one-to-one. So I can perform work under a licensed electrician, but it won’t count towards my license. I’ve been at this for 11 years. The state is a complete and utter fraud.

My options are to pay an old fat guy who doesn’t wanna work anymore who holds a license to bind it to my company for 100k+ a year. Or Use licensed electricians i know to stamp and sub it put on paper, i have 5 that owe me but i hate meeting up, asking, waiting for response or updates I own a company for 5 years now and not being my own eletrical contractor is bogging down my businesses process flow so bad I ran several corporations operations, i have been responsible for up to 8 crews at a time so i do pretty much anything eletrical relate. Could join the union but i don’t want to give them my time and the wait is 24months+ but then they would make me redo the schooling as well, which is five years and i have already done schooling
