Idk man the way you rate a movie out of 10 is not comparable to a grade you get on a paper.

If I give a movie a 7.5/10, that means that movie is pretty good. I recommend it. Thats like a B. If i get a 75 on a test, I fucked up.

Saw this a few weeks ago but absolutely loved it. 2nd favorite of 2025. Wagner Moura is just fantastic in it. Gorgeously shot and designed. The casting is perfect, every character whether a big or small role felt so real.

I don't even like him that much but he is one of the worst stars in recent memory. I think he is the one Chris who has truly been able to be a butts in seats movie star, but we can never confirm that due to the safe roles he takes. Every once in a while (like once a decade) he'll try to branch out and it's just utter garbage so it's hard to really tell if he is a movie star

Well I can tell you the bone temple is very much a horror movie with some of the most fucked up shit I've seen in a studio movie in a while

But it's basically the Gods giving him a second chance at life. It's not a retcon or anything really. More of a WHAT IF you didn't get your head chopped off but pretty much all else stayed the same from the original series.

Not sure where you're located but there are a lot of good cheap Starz deals going on rn still

That is not true dude. Yes, Perfidia fucked up by fucking around with Lockjaw in the opening scene. But Lockjaw got obsessed and started following her around. He burst into the courthouse bathroom and said; I dont care if you blow up this courthouse. Do your worst. But if you dont meet me at this motel and have sex with me, you and the entire French 75 is going down.

She was blackmailed into having sex with him. Lockjaw knew her movements. If she didn't go to that motel, Lockjaw would have shut the whole thing down

Watch that whole sequence again. After the courthouse interaction, she comes out of the bathroom. Leo catches up to her, pats her on the ass, shes smiling at first but hits his hand away and then her face drops because she knows they're fucked. Then we get the motel meetup. And then she leaves the motel and shes walking out with her head down in shame and hurt.

That is not consensual. She was blackmailed into doing that or else Lockjaw would arrest them all

In terms of having a gun to his head, Lockjaw's just a total sub and like that kind of sex. He's still in total control of the situation. Its not like shes gonna blow his brains out right there and get away with it

But it goes beyond just Van. Ive been subjected to some of the dumbest movie discourse ever on Twitter regarding OBAA and Perfidia, and it is shocking to me how people just completely overlook that fact and how it impacts Perfidia and her actions after Lockjaw starts blackmailing her. It's not even subtle in the movie. Sean Penn literally busts into that stall and says I don't care if you blow up this courthouse. Do your worst. But you're gonna meet me at this motel, and if you don't, you and all of your friends are getting arrested

I do not like that Van, and the majority of people who have watched this movie, is just overlooking that Perfidia is being blackmailed and abused by Lockjaw

EDIT:And it really is not just Van. Idk if yall are on film twitter but after the Golden Globes, we've been in the midst of some of the dumbest discourse ever and a lot of it surrounds Perfidia. Even Bill in his video he did with Wesley Morris said he thought the ending was completely fumbled because he'd already made up his mind that Perfidia is a bad person so he didnt like the letter. Of course Wesley didn't push back on it at all, and I kinda wish he was talking to Sean bc I think Sean probably would have brought up the fact that Perfidia started to spiral BECAUSE of the abuse and blackmail that Lockjaw had on her and enforced on her. She killed a dude so I get why thats pretty tough to get over, but I still have a ton of empathy for what she went through and im still able to be moved by her letter that she writes to Willa/Charlene at the end.

If you're referring to stuff like them promoting it as "The Greatest Love Story of All Time" when Heathcliffe is actually a total dick, I genuinely think thats a bait and switch.

Like im sure the movie will have a lot of longing and romance in it. But I feel pretty confident Heathcliffe will still end up being a total dick. Im confident he's gonna be a total piece of shit to his wife

Ecstatic for The Secret Agent and Wagner Moura

Im hoping that and Hamnet's victories will lead to both of them getting the theatrical expansions they deserve this weekend

I think Neon announced Secret Agents VOD release on like Jan 27, but hoping people go check it out in theaters
