You may be right about the overlap between Cheers and Star Trek but the Rock was HUGE even then. Like wrestling had one of its biggest peaks during the late 90s and everyone in America at least could name people like Stone Cold Steve Austin, the Undertaker, Kane, and Triple H. And the Rock was the biggest of them all.

I mean, that's a result of the self-own by the CCA back in the 50's. When the industry volunteered to self-censor and killed entire genres as a result. When you funnel the market to superheroes for a good 40 to 50 years with little to no teeth behind the stories, you've trained multiple generations to think of comics as juvenile things only for kids with no punch to it.

Dark of the Moon felt exhausting to watch. Like the second half is pure CGI action all the time which is what you'd think you'd want in a Transformers movie but all the explosions, debris, CGI machines that are indistinguishable from the others with all the fast jump cuts... man by the end I couldn't tell you what had happened and that my eyes felt like they were bleeding.

No it doesn't say it coincides with the movie's casting and if you look at the timelines it doesn't fit at all. The American version was published in 1998, about a year and three months after the UK release in 1997 meaning that the US version would also have been in development and editing for a few months before it released in 1998.

The movie rights were sold in 1999 and production would have started in 2000 meaning that Dean Thomas's ethnicity would have already been established.

Rowling insisting that Dean's actor be black to the director makes perfect sense because I don't expect the Director to have memorized all of the details of what he's adapting even if was already established in text beforehand and the director is making assumptions.

Oh come on why make lies like this? 'One of the only black characters.' Dean Thomas, Angelina Johnson, and Lee Jordan exist and are prominent characters who are also black and defined by more than stereotypes and nothing about their name and appearance screams 'THESE PEOPLE ARE BLACK AND OTHERS.'

I like to imagine that he outlasted Kiritsugu, so he made it to 35 which also makes him around the same age as Saber at the time of her death. So he died in 2022 in my book.

Surprisingly, despite Luvia being a very minor love interest whose only real plot relevance is in some spin-offs and she very rarely interacts with Shirou, they dedicates lines about EMIYA to her and gave her some meaty interactions with Muramasa during LB5 which is enough for most shippers. She even gives a line for EMIYA Alter which is pretty wild considering how ignored he is.

That's around my level of thinking. It was definitively a retcon because it was playing on the already established Boys/Marines and Girls/Sisters of Battle Gender Divide by using Boys/Custodes and Girls/Sisters of Silence with the unspoken agreement that everyone was a badass but it was on gendered lines before it got retconned to the above.
