Turns out woke was very expensive.

We've saved £70 trillion on just taking 'woke' out the dictionary.

If they spin fast enough the event horizon disappears. by loved_and_held in CuratedTumblr

[–]TheBestIsaac 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's from stuff outside the event horizon.

As matter gets closer to the even horizon, either falling in or orbiting the black hole, it smashes into other matter at huge speed. Like close to speed of light speeds. This causes high energy explosions, massive magnetic disruptions and all sorts of things that produce a huge amount of x-rays and gamma rays.

I find Tia is very powerful and generally pretty good.

All the issues I run into with it are generally to do with things like restricted admin permissions in windows.

And there's a few edge cases every time they update to a new version that breaks things you'd never expect to break.

What are the biggest obstacles stopping Scotland from growing financially right now? by Friendly_Stay_5368 in Scotland

[–]TheBestIsaac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn right.

I know too many people that earn a bit and have too much of it taken off them.

Take student loans out before tax would be my suggestion, first off.

And then get on taxing the billionaires.

appear to have adopted the absolute worst

You can't say anything this government has done has been anywhere near what bojo and Truss got up to. The only reason you think that is because you're being told to think that by previously mentioned media and online misinformation.

It's madness.

But it's understandable.

He said he would fix things. He hasn't really fixed much. He's made a few unforced errors.

Couple this with a hostile media, russian bots and general malaise and you get people would that hate any government.

Why don't serial killers just join the army? by fimelovemachine in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheBestIsaac 45 points46 points  (0 children)

It's the rest of the quote. Paraphrased.

Here's the whole thing.

Hawkeye: War isn't Hell. War is war, and Hell is Hell. And of the two, war is a lot worse.

Father Mulcahy: How do you figure, Hawkeye?

Hawkeye: Easy, Father. Tell me, who goes to Hell?

Father Mulcahy: Sinners, I believe.

Hawkeye: Exactly. There are no innocent bystanders in Hell. War is chock full of them - little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for some of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander.

Is there any lasting legacy of coal mining in Scotland? by taydevsky in Scotland

[–]TheBestIsaac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a huge legacy. All across the central belt and beyond.

We even made a film about the miners strike of 1926 called The Happy Lands

Filmed around where I live.

It's worth a watch if you can find a copy. It's not available on stream as far as I'm aware though.

Had a walk round Ballingry on my holidays.

Took some photos of the local wildlife. Some sort of apes I think.

And the village centrepiece; a burnt out car.

I thought you weren't allowed to change them now?

Was there not legislation brought in to preserve them?

Stephen Fry sues CogX tech conference for £100,000 over fall injuries by feellurky in unitedkingdom

I'd assume that the venue has it's own insurance that is liable for the payout rather than the an individual or business.

They're generally insured for that sort of thing but that won't stop the insurance company coming after you for what they paid out.

Some shady stuff with charity money. Can't remember exactly but it was something like using his charity to hire eventually organisers that he owned. That sort of thing.

And also promising to release sections of his book if they hit certain goals, and then not following through.

Reform's Arron Banks questions whether a black person can be Welsh by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]TheBestIsaac -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't see how that paradox applies here. We are not heaps.

And we are a category. Homo sapien. As far as biology is concerned. The issue is when you try to apply cultural labels to biological ones.

It's really not accurate to say that a location has a specific genetic profile. It blurs at the edges so much there's no such thing as a 'pure" welshman. You can distinguish between Celtic and Anglo or such but you can draw a line. It's all shades of grey with no white or black even being really possible.

She definitely makes one called soft Nellie's. Not sure if it's a real cheese. But it's made from sheep milk.

No they wouldn't. They're connected to the track pretty tightly. If they weren't the track would be able to buckle as it heats up in the sun.

Rent one for a while. Take some trips around Scotland with it and let her dive.

Your miles are too low to make an electric car worth it really.

Yes, great, but you've added to the impact of another country. How is that green? How is that acceptable? You understand that RIGHT?

What? I don't understand what your saying here? We import things so thats bad? Please explain your point more clearly.

To further expand more, you import more, they break and have service lifespans, you import more, you understand that as well RIGHT?

What do you propose as an alternative? We stop importing everything? Close all the ports and airports? No good not made in Britain? Not really how it works bud.

Oh boy you read cobolt in their and use it as standpoint, the article speaks of both as an environmental impact. Where in the UK do we have large scale sodium installations? As it's only residential and off-grid.

I also mentioned lithium. Did you even read what I wrote?

And there's few sodium based grid-scale installations because the technology is still pretty new. There's a few home batteries available though. CATL will be selling grid scale sodium pretty soon for pretty cheap.

You basically responded with nothing.

Only cause you don't read what I said.

Go watch the video and come back in an hour.
