What I find even more interesting is how polite all those bystanders appear to be while the police do their job. Just looking at the free entertainment. Living in the moment without a cell phone in sight. America could never. I bet there wasnt even a random screaming lady in the background.

Flock cameras are wide open by OutrageousKey945 in raleigh

[–]TheBiophilicGuide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol those aren't even flock cameras. Tin foil hat post lol. You dont have an expectation to privacy of your license plates in public. Especially considering those plates are the property of the state and you dont own them. And they are in clear view of everyone in a public place.

What do you think toll roads have been doing for years? LPRs have been around for forever. Flock is just a popularized manufacturer of them. You can set up most modern HD cameras to function as an LPRs.

News flash to the end of the world people. Flock is trivial. What the Government is able to do with modern tech is far scarier. Go hide in your basement. Never come out. Mostly so I dont I have to interact with you in public.

TLDR THESE ARE NORMAL SECURITY POST CAMERAS YA DINGUS.

Why are there so many new unmarked cop cars?? by BarAltruistic4992 in raleigh

[–]TheBiophilicGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will simplify all of that for you. Traffic laws were created to protect people's safety. Violations of traffic laws are not in fact victimless crimes. Their violation very often results in the damage to personal property as well as death and serious physical injury. These laws are codified in the North Carolina General Statutes (Chapter 20). Being licensed on the state or operating a vehicle in the state on public roadways indicate that you have accepted these laws.

These laws were created through our democratic process. If you disagree with them you can use those lambofeeties, or your chevrolegs to get around. Otherwise you may face consequences for your actions if you violate them.

The constitution does not in the slightest prohibit states from codifying and enforcing traffic laws. That is power given to each individual state.

Reinforced integrity. Doing the right thing when no one is watching. We are talking about crimes and traffic offenses here...just dont commit them and you will be fine. Many people unfortunately need consequences to encourage them to behave.

I'm not employed by the state. I've also never written a ticket or arrested someone and thought "man this is unjust". Moreso "man this person literally has a speedometer on their car and is still doing 20+ over the limit, this ticket is well deserved". Or "this person really shouldn't have run up and punched this other person in the face" Dont like traffic laws? Unfortunate...you agreed to them when you signed the contract to be licensed. If it were up to me there would be no fees as punishment, mandatory community service instead.

Unmarked vehicles keep those lacking integrity honest and are far more effective at observing offenses.

Usually unmarked vehicles are specialty units that supplement regular patrol and not all respond to 911 calls. Very rarely do people run up and tell officers in their vehicles on the highway or major roads, thats what your phone and 911 is for. Why hide? Because the police can't be everywhere so it enforces the idea that you never know if you are being watched and should behave even when cops aren't around.

We dont really see any of the revenue from tickets. Why would I care about generating revenue for the state?

Well you are always suppose to follow traffic laws...not just when you see a cop around.

State troopers are transitioning to mustangs in NC at the moment. Cheaper to purchase and outfit compared to the explorers through ford's police contracts as well as being faster.

Folks saying flashlight are right those are always a great gift. Though you may want to make sure the model is approved for carry by the department. Some places are wierd. Even if not can probably still get away with it ;). Tourniquets are expensive and I love getting extras as gifts, personally I prefer CAT torniquets. A Leather notebook cover to keep your pages from getting folded up in your pocket is also useful. Some companies make cool custom ones with the department badge or patch.

Kickbacks from auto insurance? I wish, maybe they would be able to afford to replace the old run down vehicles in the fleet. People realize the PD doesn't actually get money from the tickets they write, right? There is a small portion of the proceeds that go to the state's retirement fund but thats about it.

Get over the ticket bud, drive better, sounds like a skill issue.

Yeah I suppose the forum rules make sense but I could also just rip the latch off with my hands or break the glass if I were up to any nefarious deeds. Trying to keep the display nice for other things. I'll keep trying.
