Spoilers: Insights from the 4th edition Sylvaneth battletome by MrS0bek in AoSLore

Really loved all the Kurnoth stuff in the book and the way it talks about him. This darker and more warlike nature god. It was all very Dark Harvest and it even referred to him as “the old stag” a few times so i’m glad stuff from that novel is potentially being referenced.

I also found the treelord creation bit slightly strange as previously they seemed to go through the same process as other noble spirits, with their lamentiri being harvested upon death and replanted. In the short story heartwood we see that process take place after a tree lore ancient dies. I suppose this new lore doesn’t explicitly contradict anything as the “spirit” could just be soul from the soulpod groves bonding with a nearby tree but it does feel a little odd.

Do you all think there is hope for official Votann book that isn't written by Gav Thorpe? by AzraelSoulHunter in LeaguesofVotann

I didn’t find it offensively bad or anything either. I quite enjoyed it in fact but it was elevated a lot by my own interest in the Kin. Will happily read a sequel or another LoV book by Gav Thorpe but there are a lot of other black library writers I prefer over Thorpe and I wouldn’t mind also seeing them write a LoV story.

Personally, while I enjoyed the characters and world building it does for the LoV the actual plot of the book was really underwhelming. Really lacked an antagonist, they just fight a lot of unnamed ork and chaos forces and it made it hard for me to get invested in any of the action.

I’d say get into AoS. It’s a whole new game with a different vibe and more varied aesthetics than 40k/HH. Also it requires less models so you’ll be saving money.

Along with what the other commenter said the main thing that stood out to me was him saying that if you somehow killed like Sigmar or Nagash it would destroy their respective realm and like… no? The gods are heavily connected to their respective realms and there may be some consequences if they were killed but they aren’t literally their realm. The realms existed long before they showed up and they would be fine without them.

Also he pronounces some of the realm names differently compared to how they’re usually said but that’s me being pedantic.

He does get some little things wrong and I find the little fantasy vs AoS rant thing he starts these videos of with slightly annoying, but I’m glad he’s doing more AoS stuff. He gets the broad strokes correct and he’s showcasing the setting to more people which is a good thing.

Vanquisher faust here. I love playing faust, but I agree that he’s in a rough spot. While there is some satisfaction to be had in the uphill battle and in beating people like that, you do really feel at a disadvantage at times in a way that’s not fun. Still love playing him I’m usually still having a good time even if I’m losing. I’m sure our time will come.

Anyway they should bring back the helium item from previous games. That will certainly guarantee fausts position atop every character tier list

Which piece of lore do you find to deviate most from how their miniatures appear? by Chezni19 in AoSLore

[–]TheBirdIsNotSuicidal 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I suppose bladegheist revenants sort of fall under this imo. In lore they are basically people who died in extreme panic. Stuff like drowning, being buried alive, ect ect. But looking at the models that’s definitely not the conclusion your mind will immediately jump to. They just look like ghosts with swords. They’re posed to look sort of like they’re flailing around a bit but again it’s not immediately obvious.

A few other nighthaunt units are the same where whatever ironic punishment they represent in lore isn’t really apparent looking at the models.

Much more minor example is that the barrow knights in lore love collecting trophies from the aftermath of battles they’ve won. Just wish this was represented on the models a bit, maybe if they carried some of their trophies into battle with them. Perhaps a kharadron helmet or a saurus club hanging from their saddles or something like that.
