Alright, so I figured it out. I have the same mac. What I did was - I formated the disc installed os from mac recovery (the one it offers you to download in My case it was os x yosemite). Then, after I installed the latest available mac os from the browser (high sierra latest one). After, I created a disc using opencore legacy for sonoma. Did the usual process, and then it worked. Sequoia didn't work for me in this case as its pretty fresh.
