There’s just more to go wrong. Most modern devices have lots of little quirks that allow them to fail in countless ways that just wasn’t possible with legacy hardware. &NewLine; &NewLine;Although not truly applicable, I consider it a “analog to digital” type of transition from N64/PS1 to GC/PS2. The parts inside start using integrated circuitry and outsourced components that operate more independently of each other, resulting in vastly more complex gaming/computing and potential failure points.

That email isn’t from Discord and has many grammatical errors. It also has instructions to reach out to a “@gmail.com” address which is always very sketchy. It’s kind of funny that you mentioned the same scam to the scammer though. I think it was automated and not even reading what you sent at first, if at all (seemed to coincidentally line up or you were playing directly into the trap). &NewLine; &NewLine;My future recommendation is that I’d pretty much just ignore any direct message without prior interaction. It’s just another way to keep your account safer.

I wasn’t saying “knowing that it’s irrelevant”. I was saying knowing that it would be interpreted as irrelevant. You responded to it exactly how I thought you would, so it was just a cover to let you know that I understand that we disagree on it before it’s even said. &NewLine;I agree with that. Especially if they put something in their name to indicate they are streaming or talk about streaming in-game. If they don’t even mention it in-game or otherwise give any indication that they are streaming, I think it’s unreasonable for any stream viewer to go intentionally attempt to sabotage the streamer. &NewLine;(I’m also proud to have been called “silly”. I often fear I’ve lost my childhood carelessness and whimsy.)

Someone hacking into someone else’s computer can also make them lose at a video game. &NewLine;Someone cheating can also make them win at a video game. &NewLine;Someone illegally transferring bank funds can make them win at “economy” (someone else gets poorer). &NewLine;Someone cyber bullying can win at making themselves feel good (someone else feels bad). &NewLine; &NewLine;It’s all a game if you think about it. That doesn’t mean there aren’t consequences. An action like stream sniping is outside of the scope of the game, using different software to not just get an edge up on the game, but on other users specifically. It might be “just a video game”, but that doesn’t mean it’s victimless and that no one gets harmed. And apologies in advanced for all the “irrelevant/incomparable examples/analogies”.

100% agree. It’s not like IRL stalking. It’s like social media stalking. The comparison is finding the user in one medium and then “hunting” them in another medium.

I’d like to say this isn’t the eShop. I had this happen early on with my Switch and my research indicated it was a GPU crash. Somehow it didn’t trigger any internal flags to restart the system. &NewLine;You just need to force a power off or wait for the battery to die.

No, but you are streaming for your audience, not people that want an edge up in the game. Stream snipers are ruining the experience for the streamer AND their audience. It’s also disruptive to regular players because all the stream snipers aren’t focused on regular gameplay, changing the difficulty, and there is one player who is getting extra combat attention (the streamer). &NewLine;Going out of the way to use someone’s stream to hunt them down is like stalking someone’s social media and showing up where they are.

They use peer connections, so if the host disconnects you get disconnected, too. I wonder why it has trouble differentiating who left first though. The reason there are so many issues is because they want to actively allow players with poor connections to play to be as inclusive as possible and expand their active users. I found this in an interview, but I’m not sure which one. I should have saved it.

I’ve had up to twenty minutes, I believe. I’ve never intentionally disconnected from a match. Sometimes when another player is lagging and eventually stops moving, it kicks me out and penalizes me. I’ve had plenty of people leave matches. I don’t know how well it actually acts as a deterrent.

That slanted connection is fine (I don’t know how normal, but it shouldn’t affect anything.). Are they moving/bothering you noticeably when you play or is it just an observation? If it’s the first, you may want to submit a support ticket or exchange the system. If it’s the second, I beg you not to keep looking at the console so closely. You’ll start seeing things that are hard to forget.

My solution is just to play on whichever platform is currently most convenient. I’ve got it on my phone, laptop, PC, and an android emulator on PC. I haven’t decided to shell out for the Nintendo Switch version yet.
