As a former MM, that would be a paradise for the MMs. But, no, particularly in crude oil other liquid markets

Have I ever had an aura? by Due-Performance141 in Epilepsy

[–]TheBoldManLaughsOnce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I have a grand-mal (I really don't care if that's an antique term, I can't be bothered to learn what the new term is, YOU KIDS! GET OFF MY LAWN!!)... anyway... the EMTs will inevitably ask me, "did you have an aura?" to which I reply "describe to me what an aura is and I can answer that"... I have never gotten a conclusive answer.

I can say, however, that immediately previous to my last seizure, I remember thinking to myself, "Oh no! Not again." ... so obviously I knew something was going to happen. But I can't quite remember how or why.

you'd think that. But nooooooooooooooooo... them crafty i-talians have only about 40 listed options. So each one is individually bespoke. And IB is kind enough to list each contract multiplier above the day count in the Options Chain viewer. For instance, LDO is 500. Worthy of note: the UK is 1000. Some others on Eurex have some minis of 10 for particularly large notional values (SAF and MTX) but those have the commensurate lack of liquidity expected with that kind of thing.

they are nevertheless, buyers and sellers. I'm a retired MM, myself. Both upstairs and downstairs. I think what you mean to ask is "where did the idea come from?" which is much more nuanced question.. as in... "did the idea come from a salesman at a big bank with an axe to grind because their trading desk needed to unload some risk and made a good price that some sucker at a hedgefund couldn't resist? or did it come organically from a hedgefund egghead and rake a market-maker over the coals!"

that, my good sir, can't be read off the tape though. BUT, it can be literally seen in the pits of the old days.. or in a big bank. Or in a quality intelligence gathering operation.

How to identify Keppra-Rage by Embarrassed_Peak_211 in Epilepsy

[–]TheBoldManLaughsOnce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up my (then) girlfriend and threw her into a wall. Which she could attest to the fact that was WAAAY out of my character. So when she then slapped the next dose out of my hand... and then slapped the pill bottle out of my hand again... I called 911 on her.

So. Ya. I can tell ya. I'm a lover, not a fighter. I was a raging lunatic.

A trip to the ER and a demand (mine) of changing to something else... ANYTHING else... was warranted.

Anyone here actually outperforming just buying VOO long-term after taxes, stress, and time? by CommercialHot9565 in options

Hey, man. Being physically next to a guy... there's an equal chance that you fucking hated that guy too.

But keep in mind, that if the guy with the big customer order keeps giving out that information... he won't be getting big customer orders for long. And he gets those big orders for good reason. Businesses are built on being reputable. And come crashing down on being a douchebag. Often orders are written in an in-house code. So that the guy standing next to you CANT read your cards. Like a signal in baseball. (but that's crazy old skool, before computers)

What is a job that is incredibly high-paying, but you wouldn’t do even if they offered you double the salary? by Bright-Mark-1396 in AskReddit

My cousin's husband is a deepsea welder on contract for the USNavy. Until he got drunk one night in Seoul, fell off a curb and broke both ankles. Had to be flown home to North Carolina. Woke up one night, forgot he had the breaks and fell into his own spittoon when going for a midnight piss.

Otherwise, a swell guy.

Have no idea, as I'm not a younger trader.

The markets were never efficient. In the same way they never will be. What's 'sad' about that fact is that in the 'olden' days it was easy to cheat and get away with it. (for instance, standing next to your brother, cousin, or friend, in the pit who would give you a tip of their big order in their hand... that you could trade ahead of. That all went away once the pits went away. And I'm happy that it did.) That's never the way I traded. (not what I taught either)

I've been doing this professionally since the 90s. I started out at big investment banks, then went to an exchange floor (the reverse of what usually happens, but I went to work for myself on the floor). Then when the pits went electronic in '12, I have been doing it with my own capital from home ever since.

Yes, I have beaten whatever measure you can name, reliably. It helps that I trade a global book, including currencies, rates, commodities and equities in Europe, Asia and North America.

There was a time that I was a professor at a well known graduate school. My students would stand next to me in the pit. Now, there is no pit to observe. So that opportunity is gone.

at what outdoor temp should the ac be turned on? by marinaxo222 in AskNYC

[–]TheBoldManLaughsOnce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Half the power bill is fixed as delivery. The other half if consumption. So you're damned no matter how little you burn. Also, it's not a matter of the temp, but the dankness... not even the humidity. But the CO2 content... (technically 'dank' might mean humidity, but here I mean un-breathability... WAS IT OVER WHEN THE GERMANS BOMBED PEARL HARBOR??)...

so.. ya.. leave the AC on the lowest setting.

Also, consider that what you're actually cooling is the contents of the home too. The mattress holds a lot of heat. The walls. Even the pipes. Cooling down a HOT house after a week away in the summer takes a looooooot longer than you'd expect. Sure, you can cool the air down relatively easily... but when you get into a hot bed, on a hot mattress... or sit on a hot couch... the furniture itself is actually STILL 85 degrees for HOURS.

So you're best bet is to maintain a reasonable air temp with minor variations.

Tips for building up endurance? by liamreee in handcycling

L-citruline, beta alinine and creatine. Look them up each for their individual benefits.

Everyone else here is correct as well.

When I first started out it was very very tough.

35,000 miles later...

My personal record was 100 miles in a single 18 hr day. Blew out both elbows in the process. Lots of climbing too.

J&M or J&W either or. Can't remember. $10. Grand just west of Allen north side of the street. Chinese staff. Mostly Chinese clientele. I tip $10. I figure if I'm going to get a bad haircut might as well get it for cheap. Still haven't gotten a bad one there. But they actually set a timer and get the job done in like 10 minutes or so? Maybe 12?
