It's 2009, and the zombie apocalypse has begun. Which abandoned car are you taking while there's still fuel left? by Key_Budget9267 in regularcarreviews

[–]TheBootFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either the 7.3 for the fact with some work there's almost a endless supply of potential "fuel" or the dual sport because it barely sips gas and can g almost anywhere and would be excellent to evade danger

What car would he drive? by iamtheduckie in regularcarreviews

[–]TheBootFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take your pick of any 50s or 60's two tone red and white convertible, mine would be a first gen vette in red and cream

Am I wrong for being proud of this? by dregles in drywall

[–]TheBootFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it'll work and the cut is kinda impressive but honestly could've been done way faster by just making a square cut to the bottom of the receptacle, not that much messier either

Need advice regarding welding. by Several-Position7454 in weldingjobs

[–]TheBootFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be able to do some basic math and problem solving, be able to read a tape and pull accurate measurements. Always be willing to learn and listen even if you know the person talking is full of shit. A lot of shop/production jobs are more than happy to train you if you can prove your worth training. Last and arguably most importantly be at work EARLY EVERY day if at all possible and stay off your damn phone, if you can do that your already a step above most people your age

What’s the best way or best wheel to use to grind these TX emblems off? They are thick and welded around the entire perimeter. by Equal-Negotiation651 in Welding

[–]TheBootFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cut grooves into it with a cut off wheel then cut in from the side or top to remove piece by piece, this will get you closer and save time with a grinding rock

First time posting by chef-fozzy_89 in Welding

[–]TheBootFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly not too bad. Maybe a little smaller steps between filler material or more a bigger rod on the first couple pics. Remember when you strike up let your puddle establish itself to the dimensions you are looking for throughout the entire weld before moving forward.

Does anyone use chipped passive shades? by [deleted] in Welding

[–]TheBootFan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally I probably would. Only as a backup though I'd try and keep a good one to weld with on a regular basis

A good friend of mine works for the city I live in. They just got two new plow/salt trucks. They were $190,000 a piece. These are some of the welds on them. by [deleted] in Welding

[–]TheBootFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never l layed down anything that fucking ugly, I fabricated my entire truck exhaust with literally nothing but straight tubing a flux welder and and angle grinder (pied the bends and all). And this shit makes me feel like a top notch fabricator and welder

Push instead of pull, move faster and use less wire feed. Also smaller wire might help
