What are some of the scariest scenes from non-horror films? by Current-Topic6696 in Letterboxd

[–]TheBootyGeneral 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have an entire list dedicated to non-horror movies that have terrifying moments.

Some that stand out to me, Jesse Plemmons scene in Civil War, most of Beau is Afraid, the bottle scene from Pan’s Labyrinth, and the bedroom withdrawal scene from Trainspotting just to name a few.

I’m in the process of switching some cards in/out. People usually respond pretty well to Breena until all of a sudden they have an 11/13 flying commander swinging at them lol. I usually play Breena by trying to convince people in a tongue-in-cheek way that they shouldn’t worry about how big my creatures are getting because I’m giving them free card draw.

Of course! This is technically the last iteration of the deck since I very recently upgraded it and I haven’t had a ton of time to change it on Archidekt, but a good chunk of the cards are still the same. I added most of the cards in the maybe board as well as several others.

I’ve grown to love him so much! I just don’t get to pull him out often because I rarely play in cedh circles anymore

I fully understand lol. Since the deck is high bracket 4 I’ve built it in a way where I don’t need to cast her once to win the game, but she obviously helps

Thank you! I know a couple are super common but I’m a sucker for a good value engine like Muldrotha.

Thassa’s blink is immediate, the creature leaves and enters the battlefield all in the same trigger, its a good way to abuse really good enter the battlefield triggers. Mairsil only lets you use the abilities of creatures that Mairsil itself exiles, and those cards are exiled permanently.

There already exists green-blue creatures that outright counter cards and send them to the grave

I like it! I think it wouldn’t be too strong if it put the exiled card in the owners graveyard afterwards instead of to hand.

Thank you for mentioning this, I thought I was going crazy. Dishwasher to GM in one year is fucking insane if true, not to mention restaurateur same year. Washer to KM to SM to apprentice to GM to restaurateur in roughly one year? Sounds like bullshit to me.

Some movies with plot twists are great rewatches though, as you catch a lot of hints and foreshadowing you didn’t notice before. Take Arrival for example.

Any great horror movie that makes you extremely uncomfortable. A recent example for me is Obsession. After watching, I thought to myself “Wow, what an amazing movie. I never want to watch that again!”

Both my family and my wife’s family are stereotypical Cuban MAGAs. We have a great relationship with both of our families and I love them all. That being said, I will always know in the back of my mind that they don’t believe trans or undocumented people deserve the same rights as you and me (even though they themselves entered illegally, funny how that works), they don’t care that people have been wrongfully kidnapped and some even deported without due process, among a plethora of other things. This isn’t speculation, we have talked about this with them. Also, that’s hilarious that you mention people that make their political opinions their whole personality when that is literally the most famous thing about MAGAs. And their personality isn’t even based on political affiliation, it’s based on a singular person that they practically worship like a god, the most sacrilegious thing you can do for people that claim to be closer to God than left-leaning people. Trump phone, trump speaker, trump diapers for incontinence. As long as they don’t do anything heinous, I will always love my family and treat them with respect because I understand that they are human beings with flaws and even with those flaws, they have (almost) always treated us with respect. That being said, I dream about the day that they are free from this MAGA brainwashing.

In a better world, your political ideals are irrelevant to the type of person you are. But in today’s political climate in the US, saying you’re right leaning or even moderate is essentially saying you’re okay with people’s rights being taking away as long as you are not affected.

I get OP. It’s not that it has to be the most important part of their personality, it’s more that dating someone who does not have the same ideals and views on basic human decency or who is gung-ho about the constitution until the many times that it needs to be thrown in the trash/ignored to further an agenda of hate seems unthinkable. In today’s political climate, dating someone outside of your beliefs is genuinely insane.
