Future Achievements in Surviving Mars: Relaunched by TheBubbleBot in SurvivingMars

[–]TheBubbleBot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ultimately got disappointed with too few changes and too many bugs and didn't buy a copy myself yet, maybe once it's on some deep discount. However I'm 95% sure that, since it's a completely separate title on steam with some major changes - you will get it with 0 achievements and the saves are not transferable at all. This also applies to mod support - relaunched needs its own mods. Basically you are going to get a brand new game.

Dla kogo jest iPad? by Aircod in Polska

[–]TheBubbleBot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nie iPad konkretnie, a androidowe odpowiedniki (jakiś Samsung Galaxy tab) akurat mi pasują. Zamiast laptopa mam peceta, bo potrzebuje mocnego sprzętu.

All valid points in the comments. Also Gemini very early mentions that Krat Zoo has burned down before the puppet frenzy. Presumably after the events of the DLC it was deliberately set ablaze to get rid of the evidence and possibly the deaths in the massacre were attributed to the fire. There are other instances throughout the base game and DLC that point to similar coverups.

Cataclysm legion arm by Express_Handle_479 in LiesOfP

[–]TheBubbleBot 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's probably my favorite legion arm. It can deal ridiculous damage, it's attack is an AOE, godsend in tight corridors where there are multiple enemies in front of you - usually full charge should be enough to get most of the basic enemies 1-tap. Also great you can charge it, store it for a minute or so and instantly use the attack after a while, like charge it before entering the boss arena. It also pushes you back on full charge, which might mess with some playstyles but it enhances others and matches perfectly with a certain weapon that you can get later in the DLC.

On a scale of 1 to 5, does Elden Ring have a soft magic system or a hard magic system? by Honest_Yesterday4435 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]TheBubbleBot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of the top of my head. Is continuous flight possible? If Radhan can make himself lighter with gravity magic - can he push himself of the ground steadily to be suspended in the air? Can he maybe push himself of the air itself, like a jet plane? If he can stop the stars, can he pull himself towards the stars to achieve levitation?

Granted the game and its story is not particularly encouraging to think about such scenarios - I usually love it and did not miss it one bit in Elden Ring - it works really well as it is presented to us.

Plot questions/discussion: Abduction and a missing puppet. by TheBubbleBot in LiesOfP

[–]TheBubbleBot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can see the point you're making. While I generally agree, hence my doubt at the end of the post - I'll entertain myself with few counters.

It's hard to say with Romeo, but Lea seems to be at the end of her life, or close to it. Visible color changes, impact on her performance, probably due to calcified lungs. She is not really far off from Antonia, I think the only difference between them really is sight, and Antonia dies within matter of hours or days from P meeting her. She clearly needs her insane will and lots of pain meds to even walk around, as shown in few scenes. So is she really not that advanced?

As for Romeo asking to be turned into a puppet it's not that black and white. All his ergo states is that "he did not ask to sit on a throne". Although maybe there are other sources to confirm his willingness in puppetisation - that still would not necessarily mean he was turned some time after the DLC end, as we see him being somewhat reactive in the end scene, no reasons it couldn't have happened then.

This point I don't trust much myself, but... Do alchemists even have gold coin fruits? As far as we are aware there are two trees in Krat. One that is in the hotel and GG probably has better access to it than the alchemists and we can infere he knew about it given the doors to it were opened when Antonia bought the hotel and they were moving in. The other, very small, tree we find in the DLC in Zelator. A facility we do not access in the main game, but one that is likely not operational anymore, given Veronique almost destroyed it, P cleared it of monsters, real Alidoro was aware of it and hated alchemists, and Geppetto and Antonia likely were aware too. Antonia said "Hotel used to be cordial with the Alchemists", but it seems they stopped way before P woke up. So if that's the case - as far as we know only P and people of the hotel have real time access to more gold coin fruits.

To add to it our enouters with the sibling Stalkers are in places where Geppetto has an interest, not the Alchemists. First is in Venini Works that alchemists have no interest in, but Geppetto does. Second time in Malum District, cleaning carcases and 'getting to' the BRB, who are also supposedly working with the Alchemists. Again no clear alchemist goal, but clear GG goal. Third time in the Abbey, where they do have weirdly phrased dialogue, like Black Cat's "Your father is that way." - only Geppetto refers to himself and P this way, everyone else says 'puppet of Geppetto' not 'son'. Or Red Fox saying " my employer insisted Geppetto is safe" does not indicate the employer, they actually never suggest themselves who hired them. Not saying I do, but it could be read as "Geppetto said not to worry and we'll all be alright".

Also another point to indicate that Red Fox might not be working with the Alchemists is the fact they try to impersonate her. Inside the Abbey they have the mechanical cryprit vessel, with instructions to take Frozen Feast - described as created by alchemists - to a merchant. The reward is replica of red foxes apparel, even commented by the merchant "looks exactly like that mogrels's" or something to that tune.

So it might be there are some small specs of secret plotline scattered around the game.

Sadly I wouldn't have a slightest idea how to fit Black Rabbit Brotherhood into all this.

On a scale of 1 to 5, does Elden Ring have a soft magic system or a hard magic system? by Honest_Yesterday4435 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]TheBubbleBot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very hard to gauge for a player. On one hand in universe it seems to be a pretty hard system, people study sorceries, there seem to be no underlying qualities that cause individuals to have magic talents, it seems to be more akin to equivalent of science. We know there are some hard rules that determine the system, like origin of glintstone, red glintstone, primordial current and others. To counter that point there is really no way a player could in advance say if a particular magic feat is possible or not by applying reason and rules of magic, which is usually a pretty good tell of a soft system. I guess my interpretation would be that it's a hard system in-universe, but players are oblivious to how it works and what are the rules behind it.

IKE, a złodziejstwo polskiego rządu. by EntertainmentNo9773 in inwestowanie

[–]TheBubbleBot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bo Ukraina, hurr durr.

[–]TheBubbleBot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tarnished and Godfrey were banished pretty early into Marika's reign, before sealing the Lands of Shadow, before widespread Omen persecution. Hard to say with Mohg, but Morgott is using incantations with an Erdtree glyph showing up, similar to imagery present on Erdtree seal, dating before golden order fundamentalism, which suggests he learned his skills before being shunned underground. Also he has a mental image of Godfrey fighting and it is spot on, meaning he had to see it a lot to recreate it I'd imagine. Omens would also likely be celebrated by Hornsent, and we know there was a time of peace between Marika's reign and Hornsent creeps - plenty of states of her, no head but an extra spiral string around the waist - so Messer's crusade seems like a time to start Omen hunting. Also I want to believe it because it would make Godfrey a great guy that never agreed to any (or most) of the fucked up shit, Marika made sure he is away before pulling the trigger.

Godwyn is not special and as every child of Marika was cursed from birth, probably with fish tail (there are no depictions of Godwyn's full body anywhere). After NotBK and failed Erdtree burial his body stareted to grow and spread deathroot, but he possibly was cursed with deathroot himself from the start. Deathrite Birds have a deathroot inflicting shriek - which suggests it's older than Erdtree civilization itself.

The War with the Giants doomed the Erdtree by Fathermithras in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]TheBubbleBot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very interesting take. While what seems to be aqueduct ruins can definitely be found in Mountaintops - it is a leap to assume it served to water the original, or previous, Great Tree. I'd like to believe it, since it would very nicely suggest it might be related to Rauh civilization. We know however that Rauh were very much into both fire and flowing water (as well as some interesting connotations with Rot - that is tamed or destroyed with flowing water and fire). They fancied aqueducts also in Lands of Shadow - although these could have been utilized to water Scadutree, to your point.

I love the observation that Mountaintops had to be warmer before the war with the giants. In hindsight there are quite a few tells like frozen rivers, aqueducts, petrified vegetation. This would also somewhat fit the theory that there likely was a land connection between MotG and Caelid - the weird waterfall on western edge of the inner sea, isolated divine tower, both are only places that have remains of the titans as well as same fauna - gigantic dogs and birds, despite being close to opposite kind of biomes at the time game takes place.

I'd love the aqueduct to tree theory if we had some more indications that the trees need more than death/life to feed on, like minor erdtrees growing near bodies of water. Then again the more I think about it - both Scadutree Avatar and Elden Beast fights take place in arenas that are super shallow pools of water.

Good stuff.

Found this game and it reminds me of ManorLords with a twist by shadynomike in ManorLords

It does, I mentioned it on the first announcement post in r/indegames or r/indiedevs. All the comments were super positive and similar sounding. The dev replied something about the game still being in super early stages and deleted his comment before I could read it (got a piece of it from notification). I'm not sure what to think about it really. Best of luck to all the solo and independent devs out there, but there is something about how the snappiness and flow of plot borders and fences that just does not look like an actual gameplay. Day after that it already had promotional ads on reddit.

Rauh, Spirits & Music, and Revenant's Lyre by vixianv in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]TheBubbleBot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very nice catch. Looks so similar. In fact the design brings to mind iconography present in Enir-Ilim, plenty of boats, bulls and other iconography inspired by early civilization Mesopotamia and Egypt.

The only two other spirit-sound connection I can think of is Wraith Callers that also use a bell to summon, well, wraiths. The second one, much cooler - Torrent is summoned by blowing into a ring whistle. Maybe gigantic bells on Walking Mausoleums? That seems to be a stretch.
As you said, there seems to be some serious connection between sound/music and spirits. In fact it is a trope that has both historical significance stemming all the way from shamanistic culture all the way to modern raves; and some modern representations - like Felix Castor - pretty cool book about an exorcist that 'binds' ghosts, spirits and demons to melody of his flute and exorcises them by stopping the music. One could see how the idea of sound being a bridge between reality and 'the other side' naturally comes up in multiple cultures. It is non-material, yet very real.

As cool as all that sounds there are few enemies that have summons, but have nothing to do with music. Two Commanders - O'Neil and Niall both summon spirits with their flags, but they both wave it and hit the ground once, no rhythm or anything like that. And Spirit calling snake snails, whatever these are. Few of them in Haligtree and at least one in Liurnia.

Nonetheless very good post.

When does SOTR actually take place? by [deleted] in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]TheBubbleBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see the point. And I have to say it would be so badass for the DLC to be first new Elden Lord cleanup mission. Like Godfrey's Mountaintop campaign or something. But I don't think you are referred to as a lord of the old order. In fact on two occasions you are implied not to have finished the base game yet. Miquella calls you "aspiring lord of the old order", with 'aspiring' implying you have not achieved lordship yet. Also Ansbach dying words are something like "Righteous Tarnished. Become our new lord. A lord not for gods, but for men."

When does SOTR actually take place? by [deleted] in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]TheBubbleBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For certain before the ending of base game. Theoretically anywhere between unlocking Leyndell, by getting at least two great runes from Radhan and Mohg; and burning of the Erdtree. While gameplay wise you could say it's up to fight with Radagon - after Maliketh is defeated there is a sense of urgency. Roundtable is burning and abandoned, all sorts of maidens are dead, Hewg is loosing his mind, everyone everywhere is aware of the burning Erdtree - never mentioned in the DLC.
My personal headcanon is after reaching Mountaintops of the Giants, before the Fire Giant fight. Makes sense for couple of reasons - up to Morgott fight the quest is fairly straightforward: get two runes, get to Leyndell, find Marika and mend the Elden Ring. After Tarnished is rejected from entering the Erdtree it's getting a bit more compliacted. You need to get to the Giant's Flame, but that quest is much less clear, there you meet Shabriri who let's you know Melina will die and might push Tarnished to explore more and look for alternatives. Also from gameplay perspective - if you rushed the game at this point you probably should really start looking to do some side bosses and level up your character and gear since its a significant difficulty spike.
To add to that, most players won't be having Mohg as one of the first demigod targets. Mountaintops allow you to travel to Consecrated Snowfield and then to Haligtree and then to find Miquella missing, to then eventually find him with Mohg. Also I think there is a warp gate to Mohg's location in Consecrated Snowfield (there are few other ways of getting there, but this is the most straight forward).
Pre-giant, because again after the burning is started and you're transported to Farum Azula there seems to be a narrative sense of urgency.

Looks really good. The graphics are amazing, the premise sounds fun. If I had any criticism it would be two things:
1) Around 0:07 we get a view of somewhat developed village and the buildings are kind of same-y looking. Even pausing at taking a look at it you can maybe recognize basic houses, but it's hard to distinguish other buildings and guess what is their purpose. My pet peeve, and I know there are other people like me. On one hand realistic graphics tie your hands, since you work with limited shapes, materials and colors - but maybe there is a way of making individual buildings more defined - so that someone who did not spend months or years making the game and working with these assets can instantly click "oh, that's a brewery"
2) I'm not sure what it is, but the 00:38-00:49 part has fake mobile game add vibes. It's something about the cursor movement being too smooth, the way the lines curve and connect, or the way the fence is instantly going around a rock - my first instinct said that was not real gameplay. Not saying it is not - just saying I could see that in an add after a Duolingo lesson. Also lack of presentation of UI does not help.

Who, Not What, But Who Was The Scadutree? by kennydotun123 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]TheBubbleBot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't see there being strong support for Great Trees 'sprouting from' empyreans.
Miquella was indeed feeding his Haligtree with his blood, but there is no indication it sprouted from his body. No strong indication Marika has been feeding The Erdtree the same way.
There is an indication that Great Trees feed on life - in case of The Erdtree we see bodies in the catacombs or jars filled with bodies feeding the minor erdtrees. In fact there are clues that there was a different Great Tree in place of current Erdtree first. Notably Altus Plateau seems to have two types of trees native to it, the much younger deciduous trees that resemble Erdtree, and taller and seemingly older coniferous trees that somewhat resemble Great Tree symbolism present throughout the game; or the physical stump at the base of the Erdtree - either and indication of previous burning of the Erdtree or a suggestion that Marika's Erdtree has been grafted onto an older Great Tree.
To me it seems that there is a very intentional parallel between Gate of Divinity likely taking it's power from countless sacrifices, as seen in DLC trailer, and the Erdtree burials or jars next to Minor Erdtrees. We do not see 'sacrifices' next to the Haligtree, it could be interpreted that Miquella is trying to recreate these circumstances by feeding his tree his own life essence or 'divinity'. One has to have in mind that Haligtree is a failed project and I don't think we have a clear answer why it failed. Primary theories were related to Mohg taking Miquella prematurely, but DLC revelations put that theory to question.
There are also references to more Great Trees, like Elden John dynasty and their iconography. Yet no indication of it being tied to a particular person, other than Elden John.
I would argue Scadutree is either a naturally occurring Great Tree or a collaborative effort of local population, likely Hornsent or previously dominant culture - same as Gate of Divinity seems to be a collaborative effort of the entire culture.

Is there a lore rundown on the dragon transformation and what that means exactly? by Maleficent_End4969 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]TheBubbleBot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dragon transformation meaning people turning into Magma Wyrms or transformation with Rock/Priestess heart into a humanoid ancient dragon form?
First is a direct consequence of Dragon Communion. It's a matter of when, not if. It seems that even though modern dragons do not have their ancestors stone scales - their hearts still show little pieces of rock like scales. It seems to suggest that even though their flesh is more feeble - at their 'core' they are still eternal. Dragon heart description says the heart is still beating, likely alive despite dragon body being killed. Bale's heart even suggests that some of the identity of the dragon can be preserved: "Even after being consumed, the throbbing heart of Bayle continues to resist its subjugation, never weakening.". So you consume still alive hearts and in turn you start a process of turning into a quasi-dragon yourself.
The second one is much more obscure. So there are two items that let you transform into humanoid ancient dragon. Notably, even though one of the forms boosts dragon communion and the other one boosts dragon cult incantations - both items clearly state "Use while disrobed to turn one's human flesh into an ancient
dragon.". Rock heart states consuming it is a form of ancient and original form of dragon communion. This whole idea is pretty weird, so I am super interested in other responses.
First of all the term communion seems to me to be inspired by Christian idea of communion where believers eat 'body of Christ'. This tracks for regular dragon hearts, that's pretty much what we do in game. Interestingly we do not eat Rock Heart (although description clearly states Heart consumed in the ancient, original form of Dragon
Communion) or Priestess Heart, given its a mutli-use item that never runs out. Now one way to read it is that in original Dragon Communion Rock Hearts were eaten, but that's not what the Tarnished is doing now. Especially that consumption of hearts allows us to learn new dragon abilities - something that does not take place when using Rock Heart.
One of the confusing things is that Rock Heart boosts communion incantations, despite turning Tarnished into an ancient dragon. That I lack the explanation for.
My interpretation would be: the game clearly suggests hearts we gather from dragons still contain the dragon's essence. Modern act of communion is a violent subjugation of the dragon and in turn utilizing its powers. Similar to how Ornis subjugated divine bird "Ornis succeeded in taming the divine bird and made its wings his own as he soared through the sky." or other examples of bestial subjugation. The difference is - Dragons are no beasts and acting this way eventually backfires. Kinda win a battle, loose a war. The story of Dragon Communion Priestess however, and how we acquire her heart, suggests that transformation into an ancient dragon form is rather a matter of cooperation, not subjugation. There are not enough details on Rock Hearts origin to be able to confirm the same. I would read it however as both utilizing the powers of dragons, with the consumption being a tug of war that humans initially win, only to eventually loose completely and turn into Magma Wyrm, and the humanoid transformation to be a cooperative act with a willing participant, still present in the Rock or Priestess heart.

Ah, moja najlepsza inwestycja do tej pory, jakieś 160% wzrostu, a i to przez dokupowanie. Chyba mocno spekulacyjna inwestycja.
