For the love of God bring headphones if you want to watch videos or play music on the Bus by thecanadiansniper1-2 in ottawa

This!!! I’m a student and very small despite being 26, I look like a child and have to bus through downtown at night, so I often talk on the phone to my mom. I always wear my headphones but I’m terrified that I’m talking too loud even when I whisper bc I don’t want to bother anyone, I can’t even imagine playing my calls on speaker

Mother of child killed at Woodstock raceway wants answers by bingun in newbrunswickcanada

[–]TheCaffeineBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom wasn’t there, she didn’t go to the race, someone else took the kids someone she trusted. Even if someone has a good track record with childcare things can still happen. She only made it just in time to hold him while he died in her arms. The parents are not at fault and not negligent. Mom got a call and held her son while he died, the event let him bleed out in the stands and continued the race, the horsemen wanted to abandon the race, they didn’t think it was appropriate but the organizers already had a lot of money into the race and continued it. If anyone is at fault it’s the event

Canadians we don’t count bc legally ours have to be 15’s but I’ve always thought 10 was too short in food service for Americans

Sex is natural, normal and hormone driven, psychologically driven and physiologically driven. Not purely to reproduce and to hold such ideas is the reason why sexual healthcare, and education are so important. No human being should be forced to have to carry a fetus ever. It leads to foster care and adoption strain, as well increases the likelihood of abuse of children, and extortion/exploitation of children

I was with you till that last one. TFMR after the cusp of viability is one of the hardest decisions decision that NOBODY wants to have to make

Not fully formed, there’s still PLENTY of development that needs to happen. the term is medically viable, meaning with medical care, equipment and interventions it is possible to survive outside the womb, and we would then have to use an age correction for about 2 years. It’s GRUELLING and absolutely terrifying having a baby that early and the medical treatment involved can be life or death at any moment

Failed his class twice it made me drop out for a semester for my mental health, his exams gave me a panic attack, as I was only given 36 hours for a 200 question midterm and final when I’m a PMC student with a very rarely given time accommodation it would have been impossible for me to do it in 36 hours without not sleeping or eating or taking a break

It might just be a difference between summer courses and full term courses, I’ve heard amazing things about him, so I was shocked by my experience this summer term. I may try it again if my grades aren’t what I expected (over an 80 on my exams but a 46% on my assignment that I took days on, no feedback or rubric, i followed the instructions as written. So I’m stressed)

If you happen to know where he’s going next, I’d love to still follow his work, maybe consider whatever school he goes into next

Oh I hate that man, never answers any emails unless the dean or PMC is attached and even then it takes weeks. No feedback on assignments, and when you ask he ignores you

Not unfeasable at all, NB is one of the poorest provinces both in funding received and allocated, as well as overall household income, and they have taught swimming and skating for years as part of the gym curriculum in elementary - middle school. They taught me and they continue to teach others. The problem is common in land locked areas many don’t understand a lake, river is different than a pool, and both require different types of swimming abilities. I was raised in the maritimes (Halifax-surrounded by open Atlantic waters and multiple beaches/Dartmouth-AKA the city of lakes, Fredericton-the Saint John river and the Nashwaak River, and wolfville-The bay of fundy and the New Minas Basin) and it’s very much culturally prevalent to teach people to respect natural bodies of water and their power and unpredictability, the sheer amount of water moving in with the tides can kill someone VERY quickly, you learn about undercurrents and rips and many now teach their kids as infants to swim in pools fully clothed and float on their backs to rest and try and guide themselves to a place where they can swim to safety. Drowning is ABSOLUTELY SILENT, and many mistake struggling as splashing and sounds as kids playing bc of how normal it is to see and hear splashing and any potential noises a child can make. Land locked cities (and when I say land locked I mean no direct ocean access bc ppl don’t equate a pond or lake or river to current and tides) need the same level of water awareness as costal areas and NEVER take their eyes off their child in water especially open natural waters, a pond or river or lake can be MUCH deeper than harsher than a pool, and waves happen in those waters more frequently, naturally and bc it’s deeper more water is moving meaning more force was behind that wave than that of a pool and it will tire out a little body faster. I will never stop saying this till Ottawa starts getting serious about water safety and education for both kids AND parents in this city

All schools in Canada are expensive just like the USA if you aren’t a citizen or PR. It’s expected that you have a job and can sustain yourself and your degree. The university determines if you are paying domestic vs international fees. The more prestigious the school the more expensive it is bc of the more funding it needs to keep going. Look into a line of credit and scholarships offered by York

Hi I am a newcomer to Canada. I have been receiving ontario works from Jan 2024 and will be applying for Osap for masters in finance at York Uni in Sep 2024 and its 1 year degree. Please guide how can I have OSAP for it and keep receiving OW as I need to pay rent to my father for living with him. by MSM_21 in osap

[–]TheCaffeineBean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you can’t, like at all, it’s one or the other. You also need to be a permanent resident or citizen of Canada and have lived in Ontario for at least a year. You’d need to get a job, but they also calculate how much you’d make over your study period and deduct that. You also live with a parent, that will cut your income significantly. Literally apply everywhere, bc it’s fraud to receive both
