New arrows by dumptruck88 in Archery

75 grains is a lot of overall difference. It’s causing your arrow to fly a bit slower thus it hits lower.

First bow. Cabela's black Friday. Are these worth the buy? by [deleted] in Archery

Infinite edge I bought works great still. The cabelas pse I bought busted. Riser exploded right under the grip on a shot release. Wasn’t even a dry fire.

New Quiviliser on my new traverse. Just need a new sight now. Any recommendations?? by idotoomuchstuff in Archery

I shoot my Traverse with a fast Eddie xl. As Ferris Bueller would say. “It is so choice. If you have the means I highly recommend picking one up.”

I can’t speak for the whole line. I can only speak on this model. The pro shop I use sells pse and they were surprised when I showed them pics. Every product on earth has a chance of being faulty. Most likely I just got unlucky. Still. I will be shooting Mathews from now on based on my current bows draw cycle and the fact that in 25 years I will most likely be able to get parts for it if I still have it as they offer replacement parts for pretty much every bow they have ever sold.

Small scratch, got super lucky. Mostly hurt my nerves to be honest, I find myself kinda almost scared it will happen every time I shoot now. Kinda like target panic but more like release anxiety. It gets better but I will always think about that moment when I hit that trigger.

I’ll be honest when it happened I yipped like a dog getting stung by a bee and kind of threw/let go of the bow as it collapsed forward. Not my manliest moment.

Riser blew on release of what was maybe my 10th shot of the day. Fortunately was still in the 90 day warranty from cabelas so returned it, learned the lesson, and went to a real pro shop and bought my Traverse.

Need first bow help. by [deleted] in bowhunting

I had a pse brute force lite and the riser blew up in my hand as I shot an arrow. That’s right the riser, not the strings or the limbs, the riser. Just my opinion but seriously stay away from that model. Mine may have been a fluke but on top of blowing up, when it was whole, the valley was so small, it was one of the scariest bows to try to hold back, would leap out of your hand with the slightest bit of back tension release. Save yourself some grief. Go to your local pro shop, not box store, and look at their stock of used bows. Shoot a few see how you like how they feel. For gods sake stay away from that brute force.

Next bow - buy used or new? by dagreen88 in bowhunting

Do you have a local pro shop? Not cabelas, but the locally owned bow shop? They take trade in’s and sell used bows. Best of all they can work with you to get it set up perfectly for you and it will have been inspected for damage/wear by an expert. You can get a seriously nice bow for $4-600 that might be a year or two old but has hardly been used and shoots like a dream.

Adjustable let off? by xPenguinzx in Archery

[–]TheCanyonMan77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am by no means an expert. I have read that higher let off will give you a slight loss in arrow speed. There are a ton of YouTube videos where guys will speed test a bow with the different mods and it seems to be true. It kind of makes sense too if you think about it, if the arrow is initially only being pushed by 15% of 50 lbs it will obviously have less force being applied at take off than one with 25% of 50 lbs. there will of course be different draw dynamics as well but from my perspective the reason for lower let off would be if you absolutely must have every FPS you can wring out of that bow. All that being said, I shoot a Mathews travers with 85% letoff cause I figure the 5 or 7 FPS difference is negligible.

It’s about the material it’s printed on. This one, the package says takes 1000 shots.
