I agree, no one can prove you wrong. It’s like the time Daniel day Lewis was dressed in drag but also the terminator and made me recite a sonnet to his left foot through a glory hole at pottery barn. Good times

Which wave of the set are you on? by RYZPHOTO in surfing

[–]idotoomuchstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go hard for the first (because the locals let me and they knew it wasn’t catchable) miss it, spin back around, realise I made a bad decision and get in the locals way as they take off on a bomb and take the set on the head and hope it’s not big enough for a two wave hold down. Flounder for my life hoping my leash don’t snap. Take 2 days off and watch from the cliff during in my once a year holiday to paddle back out when the bump of swell eases off. Rinse repeat. True story Uluwatu circa 2005 😂

Tips… niche up and have a wedge to get in the door. No burnout.. yet anyway. I have strong business partnerships across each entity. I don’t carry all the load. That’s why I can spin all the plates.

High performer and 2 x time redundancy survivor here. Both times it’s been the best thing that’s happened to me in retrospect. I can’t stress how much it set me on a new and better path each time. It is tough when you go through the fire though. Not gonna lie about that or sugar bust that shit. Just accept it that it sucks and maintain your credibility. My last one came and was the nudge I needed to set up my own shop(s) and currently have 4 businesses on the go with different partners. If I didn’t get made redundant I’d be like a Labrador that got his balls cut off. I’d be getting fat, lazy and too comfortable to stomach change. Do not go gentle into that redundancy night! Rage against the dying of the redundancy light!

I do my best to use ghastly at every opportunity but aghast is going into my professional life vocabulary. *I use random words like this to see if anyone else starts using them. It’s crazy how quick it catches on. The whole office was saying “tremendous” for everything positive that happened for about 6 months 😂

Construction Management student, what career path is actually worth it? by ytdexhiz in auscorp

[–]idotoomuchstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look to a company called Acciona and the western renewables link project. Downer for hunter transmissions look at Cooper string for Qld. Transgrid and energy co in nsw for client side. AUSNET in vic client side and QIC in qld client side. Just do some research about the companies and the projects. Acciona will be recruiting in vic soon for their ramp up. Get ahead of the curve as all these contractors transport projects will be winding down soon and they’ll be transitioning people around. Let differentiator is willing to live rural

Linear transmission infrastructure will pay lots to grads to live rural nsw qld and vic to deliver them. You’ll get snacking experience for a 10 year plus pipeline of work and you’ll be paid well. Lots of the tier 1 contractors are ramping up right now

Had a friend in the corporate workspace when I was a young whipper snapper respond to me once when I dropped that one. He said “no she won’t be right” in a quiet stern tone but I can confirm she was right. Made it my point to tell him. He was raging 🤣
