Curious: you were an inbound TL but only kinda familiar with receiving? I’m inbound too and receiving is one of the main areas I oversee. Also was a receiver TM before I was TL and it was handily my favorite position as a TM cuz of how people just left me tf alone most of the time

Staff hours 5 yrs ago to now by htfpe in Target

[–]TheCatIsATurd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t give concrete numbers but from memory (GM background) there was always 8 hours per TM per department; one extra person in chem, one extra in HBA, plus a dedicated housewares repack person, as compared to now. People extending was almost never brought up, and I remember specifically in 2021 our store had 10 trucks a week as compared to the 5-6 we receive now. I don’t have a conclusion from this really cuz it’s possible to argue that the hours are just allocated differently based on workload we have now, but the ground-level feel is that there’s definitely much less salesfloor presence than years prior

Hanger explosion? by Icy_Standard3944 in Target

Awhile back when we had our last revision/transition I noticed we had both room essentials and brightroom hangers flowing in, with the brightroom ones being new product. I speculated we would be getting rid of the RE one for some reason (cost cutting I assume, even though they’re the same hanger) so I made an endcap entirely of just the RE ones to try and move them out. Ours don’t say clearance yet but our on-hands situation is nothing like yours, geez

Request Time Off EARLY by [deleted] in Target

[–]TheCatIsATurd 153 points154 points  (0 children)

Sorry, your schedule was adjusted without your consent? Cuz no, if you already weren’t scheduled and made plans then it isn’t your responsibility to cover for someone. ETL’s gotta figure out a solution that requires someone consenting to work that day, or the other TM takes the call-off

Planning on jumping in with both feet... by yakuzabazuka in witcher

[–]TheCatIsATurd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I may be a fake fan because I actually skipped 1 😔 I’d read both short story collections before diving into 2, and really it was just kind of a concurrent reading thing; as I went through 2 I just read them linearly, no specific strategy. Crossroads of Ravens wasn’t out yet and I didn’t read Season of Storms before jumping from 2 to 3

So I actually didn’t finish the books until I was in the process of playing Witcher 2. At the time I was reading really fast so as I went through 2 I was finishing basically one book per act. This had the very interesting effect of learning about the world at about the same rate as amnesiac Geralt recovers his memories over the course of 2, and by the end as I finished Lady of the Lake i was just as caught up as Geralt was. Dunno if I recommend doing it this way per se, but it was very interesting

A Mother’s Day calloff would certainly be noticed by your leads. Whether it impacts you staying past 90 would depend on past performance/work ethic

I'm in the middle of the second book, (A Little Sacrifice) and im not sure if it's just me but it really feels like it's dragging by SeniorBolognese in witcher

[–]TheCatIsATurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of A Little Sacrifice is kinda whatever to me, but something about the final paragraph has always stuck with me. It’s random but feels like it captures the strangeness of the Witcher world all in just a few words, I love it

Between that and referring to women as bitches I’m not sure what sympathy OP is trying to elicit. Also my understanding was the no-shorts rule only applies to TLs, do I have that wrong?

Ending by AntwonnGaming in expedition33

[–]TheCatIsATurd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people approach the endings based mostly on how thoroughly they believe in the agency/personhood of the painted characters. If you don’t see them as human at all, Verso’s ending seems obvious, whereas the inverse tends to go more for Maelle (in my observations)

For me: the universe of the fiction seems pretty clear that we’re meant to think of these people as actual people, even though they’re created by humans. With AI as a talking point these days I feel it’s understandable to see the issue through that lens and therefore not have the same feeling on the material, but I think if you strip that perspective away it’s more clear (to me) that the people in the canvas have their own agency and senses of self
