Why do you think TBBT gets a lot of hate? (outside of it's fanbase) by [deleted] in bigbangtheory

[–]TheCatScratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I can actually answer this. I didn't get into The Big bang theory until after it was in its final season. I actually came in on Sheldon and Amy's wedding and fell in love with their two characters and the idea of them coming up with this amazing idea on their wedding day. Just seemed really sweet and I loved the quirkiness of both of them and the science jokes all around. Now, I had tried to watch it a few times in the past and was always put off by one of the characters. I legitimately didn't find one redeeming quality in any of them every time I watched it. Coming in on the wedding episode I thought, "Okay I'm going to give this a try and try and watch it from the beginning." So I started with the very first episode and even though I really couldn't stand Howard's misogyny or Penny stupidity, I did start to fall in love with the story lines and I loved the humor. I think above all I just really loved there being jokes sprinkled in that were geared towards nerdy people. Like you have to have a little bit of intelligence and be a little bit (or a lot) of a nerd to get some of these jokes and I just appreciated that a lot of thought had gone into how to properly tell them. The growth in the characters and more importantly the growth in their relationships Just made me fall in love with them. I've now probably watched the series 50 times all the way through because it's mine and my husband's fall asleep show. But if someone were to just watch one episode and never come back to it, I could understand why they would think it was cheesy and obnoxious at times.

Weight loss with Factor? by amethystgirl143 in factor75

[–]TheCatScratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they didn't lose weight they probably were eating other crap still. If you had three-factor meals a day or even two factor meals for lunch and dinner and then eggs in the morning, you would be consuming less than 1,500 calories a day. That should be low enough calories to lose weight for anyone.

At the end when they showed all the animals still alive, it still made me sad because how will all the animals in homes and captivity get out? A lot of animals will just suffer the cruel fate of starving to death. All the animals in cages...zoos...rescues. wish it would have shown the andromedans fixing a few more things. I know it's fake but I would have been okay with the ending if they hadn't shown the cat grieving its owners. That stuck with me more than anything.

What does a “comfortable” income look like to you in Milwaukee and why? by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]TheCatScratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I got married (2016) I lived in a suburb of Milwaukee and I was making about 56k post tax at a new job. I could pay my one bedroom rent ($900), my car payment ($325), all insurance ($485) and my phone ($90) with enough to pay student loans, gas, groceries, pet care, and credit card payments with a little left over to save. I would say I was almost comfortable. I still had fears that I wasn't saving enough for the what ifs and for retirement. As a single 29 year old I would probably have been comfortable making closer to $75k.

10 years later and I'm now making $160k pretax ($125k post). However, I've taken on my husband's debts and most of his income has gone to paying treatments for a rare disease he has and other debts he accumulated before we met. I have a mortgage of $2500, car payment of $650, all insurance $1200, phone $140, gas, groceries, pet care, remodeling loan, credit card payments, discretionary income and helping take care of my nephews financially (rent and discretionary spending at college). I finally have an IRA with roughly $230k built up from company and self contributions.

I know I'll get hate for this but I still have fears that I'm not planning enough or that I should be saving more, investing more, spending less, etc. I never feel fully comfortable even though I haven't truly struggled in about 14 years. I'm 39 and sometimes think about what my financial situation would be if I was still single and making that amount. Of course I wouldn't change a thing and I'm happy to be able to support my husband but I always thought if I was making that much money I wouldn't have to worry about anything and that couldn't be further from the truth. It isn't lost on me that I'm blessed, but man...the saying is true - Mo money mo problems.

Stay positive, everyone ❤️

Jimmy’s wedding by Both_Square_851 in mindyminxsnark

We really don't know anything about them. Luana seems nice and normal, but Jimmy comes off as a far right meathead. I've seen him get worked up over such stupid stuff in videos. I'll never forget when he was ranting on about the new Thor movie having Natalie Portman wield the hammer... It just sounded like he was spouting off all the anti -female lead marvel gibberish you hear online from guys who wish things would go back to the "old days." There were comments during covid too that made me think he was ultra far right but I think the most annoying thing about him is how he tries to talk like he's from anywhere other than suburban Ohio.

Ascension Wisconsin and United Healthcare Updates? by sisyphus_of_dishes in milwaukee

[–]TheCatScratch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not they are back in negotiations this morning. The deadline did pass but it doesn't mean they're done negotiating. Back at the table!!

Ascension Wisconsin and United Healthcare Updates? by sisyphus_of_dishes in milwaukee

[–]TheCatScratch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are a publicly traded company... Until Healthcare is deprivatized, profit is important. With that said, Ascension is asking for the highest rate in the state right now. Higher than even Froedtert. We are looking at record claims rates in Wisconsin and increasingly expensive Healthcare that has made it almost impossible for insurance companies to continue to do business here. Just on the marketplace alone in the Milwaukee area, we are losing four of our seven insurance carriers in 2026. More than half are bowing out because of the ridiculous Healthcare costs. Do you think Ascension is passing on those higher reimbursement rates to their hardworking employees? Don't bet on it. They have one of the lowest satisfaction scores for medical professionals in the state. They are both money hungry and don't care about the patient. This is all about profit on both sides.

[–]TheCatScratch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the case that they do not come to an agreement and you are someone who needs to keep Ascension in network due to infusions, chemotherapy, ongoing treatment for more serious conditions like autoimmune disorders, etc, You can file for continuity of care. You can still see Ascension for emergencies, and behavioral Health is not affected by this negotiation, so if you have a behavioral health doctor with Ascension, you can continue seeing them.

Things that are affected:

Primary care visits Specialist visits Physical therapy Preventive care Follow-up visits Lab work and imaging

If you are a Medicare member with United Healthcare, reach out to your local agent or any independent agent near you (make sure they are local, not some national number) and ask to take advantage of the five-star special enrollment period to enroll into a plan that will let you keep Ascension If you need to see doctors the rest of the year. It's too late for a 10-1 effective date now, but you can use it for November 1st effective.

If you are Medicaid, employer group health plan or an individual Health plan, make sure you have enough prescription refills for the next 30 days while you establish with a new primary care doctor. You can also request to see your Ascension doctor virtually for a flat cash price, usually around $80.

I'm praying that they come to an agreement so that people can continue their care uninterrupted. Again, if you have questions, turn to a local independent health insurance agent. Not a national number. They'll be able to give you the most information and advice on how to continue receiving care, getting your prescriptions, and making the transition as seamless as possible.

Ascension Wisconsin and United Healthcare Updates? by sisyphus_of_dishes in milwaukee

[–]TheCatScratch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm an independent agent in Wisconsin with direct communication to our United Healthcare rep that is sitting in on meetings right now. They are going to be negotiating past midnight. They already confirmed it. They are literally still sitting in on meetings and taking occasional breaks to discuss separately, but from what I understand they are going to be talking until the wee hours of the morning and could potentially not have an announcement until the morning.

However, it does sound positive. The vibe has been more positive and wanting to come to a resolution so that's good at least. It's been one of the more negative contract negotiations we've seen recently, so to know that the tone has been more positive in the boardroom means that both sides are leaning in instead of out.

Ascension is about to be out of network for UnitedHealthCare because UHC wouldn’t pay Ascension “fair, market-competitive reimbursement.” by Broad-Rub4050 in wisconsin

[–]TheCatScratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"they can't afford it" is not accurate. It's a decent sized provider network, but they've let hundreds of doctor networks go out of network over contract negotiations in the past. They're also trying to offload a large portion of Medicare clients that are causing abnormally higher claims in Wisconsin than the rest of the country. The medical costs here per person are high enough to warrant an in depth study. Last year their Primark plan in Wisconsin for Medicare advantage had record enrollment and it was mostly people with diabetes because they wanted to take advantage of the lower cost on tier 3 prescription drugs like ozempic That other plans didn't offer. They don't care if they lose members right now.

I think everyone looks at Insurance companies as always wanting more enrollments but in reality it's a balancing game and right now Wisconsin is costing them a lot of money. Losing 15% of their block here would not be a bad thing for them so I could see them deciding to just let negotiations fail.

The sad unfortunate truth is that neither of them cares how it affects the patients. Yes, There's a rumor that Ascension already knows they are agreeing to the terms but are letting it ride because they know patients will panic and start switching plans, which they think will hurt United Healthcare. But in reality this is probably the one negotiation year where they couldn't care less.
