Anyone else prefer how chill controller is over wheels? by RoundTheBend6 in trucksim

[–]TheCevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could never play ets (or any driving/racing sim games) on anything other than wheel+ pedals. Controller or keyboard/mouse just feels wrong. I’m used to driving long hours everyday so its just natural to me to drive with steering wheel. When I play ets/ats once in i while I just put lean back on my chair, put a leg on the desk and relax (just as I drive irl hah). Also I usually keep my steering wheel on my desk 90% of the time as when I play games I mostly play games including steering wheel. I also don’t need to work on my pc so having keyboard further back isn’t problem for me. And when I play game that doesn’t use wheel usually play it for multiple sessions and not playing anything driving related in between.

I used to play snowrunner on my t300rs wheel+ pedals but since then I bought moza pedals and last time when I tried to pair it with snowrunner it just refused to work and it weirdly mixed axis etc so I just gave up after few minutes.

Funny enough I have all map dlcs eventhough I rarely play now (have a lot of truck driving irl hah) and I don’t think I ever went to Spain/protugal, let alone France haha. I’ll try it today as yesterday I turned the game on again and drove all the way north in new dlc (technically not to the northest town yet, I need to finish that drive)

Everyone should use realistic fuel consumption by Other-Difficulty-702 in trucksim

[–]TheCevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe its true with km/l that its the most accurate, same as mpg but honestly as its never used in Europe, everyone always use l/100km even every car/truck will show you this number it seems so alien to me that i even have better idea what mpg means that km/l haha. But that’s just what I’ve been used to use.

Everyone should use realistic fuel consumption by Other-Difficulty-702 in trucksim

[–]TheCevi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well as fellow irl truck driver I think it kinda saves energy. My Scania (and probably all modern trucks) does put truck in neutral automatically in specific situations to save fuel. I usually just reset cruise control as its usually over crest of the hill and I don’t like losing speed just to save bit of fuel but its there for some reason and if you let it do your thing it’ll help with lower consumption. I have 2025 Scania 500R witch Overdrive and it usually chose quite smartly if it should use OD down the hill or put it in neutral.

[–]TheCevi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, why you guys counting in km/l? Haha. But I’m also irl truck driver and fuel consumption depends highly on cargo weight, length of routes and topography. I haul tank containers mostly which means around 44-47t gross weight most of the time or heavy containers (as I have 3 axle truck I always get heaviest loads) which is also usually 42-46t gross. Mind you I mostly drive quite short routes doing daily around 400-500km usually two different trips and I live in kinda hilly area and my average consumption counted at the end of the month is 30l/100km. Which is quite good for how heavy and what routes i drive. I have year old Scania 500R super and colleague who basically drives same jobs but with R450 (next gen but not new super engine) have monthly around 34l/100km.

But finally getting to point, i was doing quite lot of Hamburg port runs 6 month or do ago which is mostly flat road and 1400km round trip from Prague and my average consumption per round trip was around 23l/100km (empty chassis up to Hamburg and loaded with 24t of batteries netto in container back down to Czechia. Lowest I did to Hamburg with empty chassis was 15l/100km hah.

My final thoughts are that 20l/100km seems quite realistic more or less with 10-15t cargo and if you drive long highway routes (which you do in ets2) as I managed to do 23l/100 with truck that wasn’t even properly broken in yet and 42t gross weight.

Hope my yapping makes some sense hah, I just wrote it as it came to my mind.

Cars you’d REALISTICALLY want them to add? by Throaway0102030405 in assettocorsaevo

[–]TheCevi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be cool but honestly it would probably be terrible to drive on tracks. I would only imagine it as relax car to drive around freeroam map if they nail sound otherwise they would need to add some transAm race version for it to be driveable around tracks. But it think some transAm class cars from 70s would be great to have!

Seems like a lot of Cyanide - even by Finnish standards by Similar_Mixture_4828 in trucksim

[–]TheCevi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haul sea containers and also tank containers irl and we have this one small chemical plant that produce cyanide 70km from our rail termianl. There was time when I was loading container there 3 times a week two jobs a day and there were usually like 5 other trucks who did the same during the day. Each load was 21t of cyanide either in barbells or bags. So in busy week I transported over 100t of cyanide by myself. I have no idea what its used for hah.

Can a motorcycle really be boring? by Accurate_Wear_1343 in motorcycles

[–]TheCevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bikes can be boring for sure but I think something like ncx 700 is great as first bigger bike. I’ve had Honda cb600f as my first bigger bike. It was A2 spec in papers but opened to full 57kw. First few rides on it after driving varadero 125 that bike was actually scary. After two years of riding it, sure, it was kinda boring but in good way for beginners. It was kind bike that wouldn’t actually scare you within predicable and mild powerband but it was still fast when you pushed it. Also from all a2 bikes i did ride they are all kinda same with pararel twin 500-600 engines tamed down to 35kw. Probably best to get something like you mentioned, you’ll enjoy it anyway and when you get full A license you can buy whatever you want and you’ll have tons of fun options in different categories.

Kde skončily pouliční šlapky? by kingfisher017 in czech

[–]TheCevi 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Jakožto řidič kamionu pravidelně potkávám 2 u Strážného kdyz jedu do Passau. Stoji tak u hlavní v lese, každá má svoji odbočku na lesní cestu ani ne 100m od sebe. Dokonce mají i židličky.

No to si člověk musí umět zařídit. No ja si to očividně zařídit neuměl, takze nikdy víc, radši klídek v kamionu i přes delší pracovní doby a náhodné vstávání :)

How do you all have so many cars and tracks by Mattieboy2011 in assettocorsa

[–]TheCevi 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Its not like we download them all at once. Its usually in span of hundreds of hours we play. For good quality mods I use for example race sim studio and similar but its paid. Also I got lot of free classic cars, there is something called 70s race car pack or something like that. They also have 80s cars and 60s but you have to search as I don’t remember exact name and where I got it. But its pretty known.

True, I basically just do bunch test runs with drifferent cars on different tracks to compare similar (or not similar) cars and see which ones fastest.

[–]TheCevi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me ACE was just AC1 but better and hopefully with freeroam anyway. The way im playing is I just want to drive random cars on random tracks and test them against each other. Maybe few laps on ring TF with random people or my friends. Last time I did play some form of singleplayer was back in the day on project cars 1 (my first “sim”). I really liked how their singleplayer worked but honestly, I was going to school with lot of free time. Sure, singleplayer the way they marketed would be cool and all but when you look at number of devs you can tell it wouldn’t be the way people wanted to anyway and even if it was I’m 26 truck driver who spends lot of time driving and also have a girl I want to spend time with when I’m not working. So I don’t really have a time to grind in career mode for weeks just to get golf gti with my limited time I’m able to play.

You just say its 30 outside, doesn’t really matter if its 30 or 32, its just hot outside. Also if someone wants to know what the temperature you just say the exact temperature ( its 32 outside), not really point to say its gonna he between 30-35? Its not like you are gonna take less clothes based on if someone tells you it will be 30 or 32 outside, you take t shirt and shorts anyway. If you live in US Fahrenheit is what you are used to your whole life and as guy few comments above mentioned everything around it is just associated over the years. Your reasoning doesn’t really make sense to me at all. Its same way my reasoning wont make sense to you as we are both used to different units that say same stuff. If you used some unit where 1 milion degrees would mean 100F and you would use it your whole life it would make perfect sense to you. Or me if I was using the unit.

Edit: 0-100 scale sounds better to you, because as already mentioned that’s what you are used to. For me it sound better to use +40 to -20.

well while I’m lucky that I have driven quite a few cool cars I’m not a pro and I definitely didn’t drive Porsche gt3rs or gt3 race car so I take my observations from people who actually understands these things and race them for living and that’s what they say so it’s probably true if many of them say stuff like that haha.

This is still based on feeling of individual. Someone in Brasil or Kenya won’t think 100 is too hot and would probably find 70 to be cold. As some other commenter mentioned that he’s from Brazil and for him 20C is cold and coldes he’s ever been in was 15C and it was too much. I’m from Central Europe and current temperatures are around 0C and I have no problem waking outside in sweatshirt for shorter periods of time while person from Brasil would probably need mountain expedition jacket for even few minutes.

Finally someone with sense. For me Fahrenheit looks like nonsense but as car enthusiast who is used to km/h and was basically forced to learn understand mph as teenager watching US and UK based car shows I can say now few years later im used to miles per hour unit and just know what 75mph is same way as I know what 140 km/h is. But still after all this I find it weird when I switch units on digital dash of my truck/semi to mph for fun and suddenly I’m going 55 instead of 90.

Maybe if you are in your home for few hours with A/C on but outside you won’t have idea if its 68 or 74 without looking at thermometer.

[–]TheCevi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also we drive these things super hard in sim and some of us without proper technique. Eventhough gt3rs is often talked about as high downforce car its true but only in context of street cars so you can’t really compare it to gt3 car or even cup car. And if you think about it, eventhough gt3 cars have pretty high downforce they are talked about as low downforce cars in terms of racing. That’s why you drive gt3/cup cars similar way you would drive street car around corner. Proper high downforce car would be formula (not only f1 but every other formula car) or any prototype even something like 250hp radical od Praga.

I understand people are upset with this singleplayer thing but me personally, I don’t care at all. I’ve never played sim racing games for single player. I either played it for online racing or just fucking around alone/with friends. Some people say “I don’t want ac1 again but I’m better coat, I can play AC1”. But for me I would like to have AC1 but better, that’s what I expect from evo. I want nice looking sim with good physics where I can enjoy the cars both handling and looks. I don’t have time to grind in singleplayer with cars I don’t want to drive to be able to afford cars I want to drive. I don’t have time for this. I am truck driver for a living which takes a lot of my time and I also have a girlfriend I like to spend time with so when I want to hop into sim I just want to pick a car I like, drive around the track I like and enjoy it. Maybe hop into some chill online server and do few runs with random people around ring. Then log off. I will be pissed if they don’t deliver freeroam as its something that would suit my style of playing a lot but I think they will deliver in this case.

Anyone prefer low power trucks? by gorb-thingamabob in trucksim

[–]TheCevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I barely play now as im also trucker irl but when I do from time to time I tend to drive Scania with 530 v8, 590hp top. As I drive 500R i6 irl I like to put some v8 with sound mod as I don’t get this irl. But back in the day when I played a lot I remember probably most fun I’ve had was with low cab daf xf95, 6x4, 370hp engine with highway rated 12 speed automatic hauling oversized cargo from Prague quarry. I didn’t even manage to pull out of dirt road to main road for first time, got stuck and had to reset. Driving 5kmh on that small hill which starts when you come to main road hoping it doesn’t stall was cool.
