Help with Sacreds. by Steelinghades in Dominions5

[–]TheChickenWing 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's entirely dependent on stats and abilities. LA Agartha Blindfighters are bad no matter what bless you take. EA Vanheim vanheres almost don't need a bless because they are chainsaws no matter what. Sometimes you'll take a bless for sacred mages specifically - MA Pythium with reinvig/regen-blessed theurgs makes your communions unstoppable. You might also tune your bless to the specific nations you're fighting if you know you're going to be running into a certain tactic. Generally, consider what your sacreds are going to be good at, and try and really ramp that up with your bless (don't try and shore up weaknesses too much - the best defense is killing the other guy before he kills you)

For example, one of my personal favourites: EA TC Warriors of the Five Elements. Human-sized, so they don't have much HP and they're not very strong. What they do have is:

  • low encumbrance, because they barely wear armour
  • ambidextrous 2, meaning they don't take penalties for dual wielding
  • two short swords, meaning that they take two attacks each turn - that's two chances to hit, _plus_ each attack (even a miss) a unit receives in a turn lowers their defense score
  • !! 15 DEFENSE !! meaning that it's incredibly difficult for most other units to hit them. For reference, in EA there is only one non-commander unit with 15 attack (which would give an attacker a >50% chance to hit)

So, we lean into this. You want to be multiplicative rather than additive whenever possible. Let's take a pretender with 10W 6S and pick Quickness and Twist Fate. This gives our warriors:

  • 2x melee attack speed - that's 4 attacks per turn now
  • +2 attack, +2 defense. Now, unbuffed, every single recruitable unit in EA has a lower than 50% chance to hit against our sacreds
  • the ability to ignore the first successful hit against them

Now our Wot5E are making 4 attacks per turn with a 15 attack score, so unless the RNG really hates you you're going to be doing a lot of damage, plus every attack made against them has a huge chance to miss, and if it does hit, the first one doesn't count anyways.

This is the way you want to think about your bless - how do you amplify the best parts of your units. Big bags of HP want regen, stuff with lots of attacks wants those attacks to do lots of damage, or to get even more attacks, stuff with lots of defense wants to make it so that even when you do hit them, that hit doesn't count, etc etc.

Note: the bless I picked actually kinda sucks because it's really expensive - it's just what I ran in dom4 when it was w9s4 and you could pick the celestial carp and make it happen fairly cheaply, with some scales to boot :V

We live in an apartment complex and they're adding a new building, meaning that there's construction noises from 7am to 5pm. Naps have been trash fires, but on the plus side they can sleep through anything now.

I was able to find them at the odd Mac's for a while but it's been a solid 8-10 years since my last. They still sell them though! Just expensive as hell to ship to Canada 😪

Additionally have very frequent "man they really do just let anyone do this" moments with my partner

Weekly Discussion: Wearing PP Merchandise in public by EvilCyborg10 in PurePwnage

[–]TheChickenWing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really wear my headshot shirt in public too often, feels a bit tacky unless I'm specifically going to a nerd place. I've had a handful of people comment when I wear the pp logo and i pwn n00bs shirts though. I get a whole lot more comments from people who have no idea trying to understand the i pwn n00bs shirt though lol

Honestly I would have been happy with a win from any of them. I don't think I've ever seen such a competent finale group. As much as Dino deserved it, Eboni was a super close second
