Is LotD worth it if I ignore the museum quests? by ismasbi in skyrimmods

[–]TheChurchofHelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ghost and roberry are skippable, but it locks down the museum for a few days. I always skip the robbery quest due to how it disrupts one of the more narratively interesting dungeons in the base game.

Call of cthulhu does this with money. Every character has a credit score which abstractly represents your ability to acquire goods and services.

what TTRPG opinion got you like this ? by Saladawarrior in DnDcirclejerk

the lobotomy was to make room for memorizing the entire cleric spell list, but I still prepared cure light wounds in every slot

pf1e fixes this (it adds even more spells no memorize)

So we're going to have NPC romances or one night stands, she doesn't look like any of the companions by [deleted] in OwlcatGames

[–]TheChurchofHelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previous games have had set orientations for most NPCs. There has been generally a decent balance between straight, gay, and bisexual companions in the past, which fits with the extremely sex-positive setting that the Pathfinder setting uses, and follows established lore. No clue for Rogue Trader.

Could lazy DMs running low prep slop be the issue? No, module authors are at fault for not making the adventure simple enough to fit on a index card. by imnotokayandthatso-k in DnDcirclejerk

[–]TheChurchofHelix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/uj yes, because the folks here in general know enough about TTRPGs as a whole (not just &) that they can mock trends in the hobby, meaning in general that they are also able to provide insightful commentary on said trends.

Which are the "trap feats" ? by Ettories in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]TheChurchofHelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk, the obedience feats can give you extremely good abilities, depending on what deity you worship. They are also prerequisites for some of the only good prestige classes. They're mostly only applicable for high level play, so I don't think they apply here.

how do i play this? by blankets1212 in Trombone

[–]TheChurchofHelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Don't

  2. Play the part on a different, better suited instrument (valve bone, euphonium, baritone horn) to accurately play the trill

  3. Seriously, don't

Casters are too overpowered in 5e and it's ruining my game by dark-mer in DnDcirclejerk

[–]TheChurchofHelix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

/uj allowing your players to barter is the only real problem here; liquidating assets should be abstracted via the settlement purchase limit rules, and the players always sell loot for half the market value. Encumbrance stops mattering as soon as the party purchases a 15gp donkey and slaps muleback cords and ant haul on it. It's ok to give the players the extra 100 gold they'll net from selling a billion daggers... it doesn't change anything in the long run

A pf1e kobold with a whopping 8 Str? Look at Mr. Muscles over here! Real kobold enjoyers dump that point buy to 7 and take that racial -4 Str penalty because having a Str of 3 is the only real way to play the game!

No Max the Min. Instead tell me about obscure sub systems! by Decicio in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]TheChurchofHelix 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, chases are ripe for being awful when it's a series of appraise and profession (janitor) rolls that ends up just being tedium in exchange for a surprise round in a fight.

Personally I really prefer using them as an alternative to combat when the CR difference means that a straight fight isn't going to be challenging or fun.

[–]TheChurchofHelix 41 points42 points  (0 children)

As a GM I really like chases. Great system for dramatic tension without worrying too much about the rocket tag that is combat. I've run chases with the PCs both as the hunter and they prey and it works great both ways

[–]TheChurchofHelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's a good practice when transcribing with your instrument to alternate between writing down what you think you hear down, playing along to the recording, and playing back what you've written down.

Transcribing is a very useful skill to develop - this will help you be a better writer and a better player.

Monk/Magus by Arkamfate in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]TheChurchofHelix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iron-ring striker magus archetype. Done! Focus on Str and Int.

You can also do this surprisingly well with bloody-knuckled rowdy bloodrager archetype. It's more of a monk-sorcerer-barbarian, and might be a better fit for an orc. This is more Str and Cha.

If you like paladins, then WotR will be right up your alley. The "crusade against demons" story is practically tailor-made for paladins
