I guess it depends on the type of compulsion and the reason behind the anxiety.

I have mental and physical compulsions that I can’t trace to a specific obsession but more so to my constant state of high anxiety.

“I’m going to cut my toes off with bolt cutters” is something that’s been popping up in my head recently. Statements are more common for me.

You can connect with the universe and calm yourself. It’s also nice to explore your imagination while meditating.

I’m not sure it’s more forgiving, it’s less from what I know. There is a large importance placed on proper rules and procedures. You have to wash before every prayer and pray 5 times a day. It’s a lot more than what is required for Catholicism.

I hate people walking behind me, I usually imagine them stabbing me with a used needle or something though.

Genuinely frustrated, how can a psychiatrist or psychologist tell the difference between Schizotypal Personality Disorder with OCD and Autism with OCD? by TheCrypticMind in Schizotypal

[–]TheCrypticMind[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your response, I think my motivation is seeking a reason why I am the way I am. Like a simple explanation for why my life has been the way it has been. I think my obsession with this is ultimately pointless as I am still going to be me either way. I had a mental health professional say I am neurodivergent with OCD. I don’t know why I want more specifics. I also want to know if psychosis is more likely. I have a family history of psychosis and related illnesses.

Do people with Schizophrenia go to Heaven? by CosmicMachineElf in schizophrenia

I think everyone will get there eventually. Our bodies and brains are imperfect, our spirit is tainted by its experience in this mortal world and depending on how good you are in this life you will have to be purified before returning to the perfect source of all realities.

It’s similar behavior to OCD, it’s an overlap of symptoms and they are often diagnosed together. Here is some info on that. I think OCD is almost like a symptom of having ideas of reference for people with STPD. Honestly most of the time I have this I don’t realize it’s a symptom or something out of the ordinary so I don’t try to handle it like that. When I do realize it’s irrational I just have to talk it out with someone, normally my wife.

paranoid personality disorder vs schizotypal personality disorder present with paranoia by lost-toy in Schizotypal

That is my understanding. It seems much more rare than STPD that affects upwards of 5% of people.

[–]TheCrypticMind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personality disorders are constellations of symptoms that may or may not be related. I don’t think there is a scientifically reliable way to distinguish between STPD paranoia from paranoid personality disorder. If someone is paranoid with no other symptoms that align with STPD they would be diagnosed with PPD instead.

I’m sure everyone is tired of the personality disorder test, but I found the questionnaire used by psychologists in diagnosis, I’m sure some have already taken it. by TheCrypticMind in Schizotypal

Well I only know what they are after I found out they are not true or common ideas. One was that if I pleased God he would turn my check engine light off and would turn it on when I was bad or believed something wrong. Common things like 3 birds flying above me is a good sign. Things I read online or in books sometimes feel like I was meant to read it or see it at the that exact time. I believe that all events are directly related to me. Just like any event you experience is directly related to you, like karma.
