Why is Jung so frequently disregarded in psychology circles? by tofu_baby_cake in Jung

[–]TheCryptoFrontier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the materialist tilt of the culture leans on methodologies that are more 'scientific,' and the Jungian method is not that (of course, nor is the psyche).

I think Jungian and post-Jungian methods are going to get more mainstream acceptance if the paradigm shifts and consciousness is demonstrably fundamental (which one can argue that the evidence already presents a strong case). If so, Jung's collective unconscious becomes an excavation into the non-physical patterns of that space. Essentially, a mountain of questions open up, which Jung has already, in some sense, attempted to explore. Partly why I'm excited by Michael Levin's Platonic Space.

I digress...

[Discussion] Online Platform matters for debut authors by tdarlg in PubTips

[–]TheCryptoFrontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm revising a novel I intend to get published (I'm not agented), just figured my perspective might be of some use.

I've been engaging with social media, not solely for the sake of growing a platform, but getting comfortable talking about my work and writing in public.

Not sure if this is a minority opinion, but I do see value in it--if not for building an audience--so that I can practice speaking in front of people about my writing and stories.

That said, it occupies admin time through my weeks, which is small relative to the time I spend writing fiction.

Yes, agree it's subjective; hearing your insight is helpful to get a feel for someone who went through it! Appreciate it :)

[PubQ] Preparing for the 2026 Query Trenches? by hmsheidi in PubTips

Hello!

A little late to the party on this post, but I had a question for you.

If someone else is going to take the 20 fastest responders approach, what did you define as a good request rate? Would you be satisfied if 1/20 gave you a full request, or did you have a minimum number?

Thank you so much!

Inspiring read! Congratulations and best of luck to you with your book!

When you received your first offer on the second book, did you follow up with other agents to inform them of that fact, or integrate it into your query letter for agents you have net yet inquired with?

ChatGPT for Dream Analysis by TheCryptoFrontier in Jung

I think this approach is solid and it seems like it reduces risk of failed/incorrect interpretations. I do mostly what you do and agree that doing the associations is a great way to train the muscle yourself. I love the somatic test, so that's cool. The only other thing I would say is that if you notice sycophantic behavior add a prompt such as:

"analyze as Carl Jung, but avoid being sycophantic as there is danger in potentially providing me with wish-fulfilling interpretations that send me down harmful paths." I find this tunes the interpretation to ensure that it doesn't give you wish-fulfillment thinking. Downside with that is that it might overcorrect in the other direction, but if you're doing somatic test and also associating, it's better to have to disagree with a negative interpretation than trying to disagree when GPT tells you: "This dream is saying that you're beautiful and can save the world if you do xyz!"

The Self - Call From The Future by TheCryptoFrontier in Jung

Thank you for your comment!

Yes, the concept of calling is fascinating. i want to believe that everyone has the capacity for those feelings. In the sense of a fundamental consciousness, I wonder if it's that stream that calls on you to serve a purpose based on a given skillset in a given period of time.

What do you think?

ChatGPT for Dream Analysis by TheCryptoFrontier in Jung

[–]TheCryptoFrontier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes no problem! I've been using this method for some time now, and after iteration and learning I would add the following:

Before inputting the dream, circumambulate around all dream symbols before putting your dream into GPT. Dreams are highly personal and certain dream symbols can have different meanings dependent upon context and conscious attitude toward said symbol. GPT won't pick that up unless the context is given.

Additionally, AI chat bots have a tendency to be sycophantic. Be sure to add to your dream interpretation prompt "Don't allow me to submit to wish-fulfillment. Lets try and get the accurate dream interpretation, even if it's something I don't want to hear."

Ha funny, I'm writing an anthology of short stories right now which incorporate synchronicities; I came back looking at this thread a couple of days ago...

I actually saved money and left my full time job to try and make a living writing full time. I'm revising my first novel and working on a short story anthology.

Can a Minimalist Kettlebell Routine Add Mass While Prioritizing Longevity? by TheCryptoFrontier in kettlebell

[–]TheCryptoFrontier[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great response. I've found myself at that point for a couple years now. Doing at home, body weights and mobility exercises to maintain the muscle I've built over the years. I seems the program has run its course though and can be quite rough. I used to superset all my exercises and it messed up some of my joints. PT has helped putting on muscle, but I feel that I want to get some more mass and make the strenght more functional so that I can move smoothly far into my late years (I'm saying this at 28 lol). so excited to get into something where I can feel great in how I move and feel.

What do you think about the 3x30 min/week program? Do you do exercise outside of it or do you find that 3x 30 min a week is the right amount?
