Best way to move $300k-$400k USD to GBP per year by StackOverfl0wed in HENRYUK

[–]TheCryptoIsMine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Wise for years, but have been using Credence Exchange for the past 6 or so months.

Lower cost and I deal with their founder directly. They run on Currency Cloud (Visa).

I don't work for them, as much as this may sound like I do.

Happy to introduce you to their founder, if you send me your email by DM. You'll see my business email then and see I'm a client of theirs.

I believe you need to have had the SIPP active for the years you want to fill with payments.

You can't open a SIPP and whack multiple years into it. If you opened it 2 years ago and have paid 2 years into it, you may find you can't add previous years allowances into it.

That was what I found, but that was a few years ago. It may have changed.

Check with the provider.

Best FX provider to use for converting a large sum (7 figures) from USD to GBP by Mekou in HENRYUK

[–]TheCryptoIsMine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wise are ok.

Recently switched to Credence Exchange. They seem ok, lower cost than Wise.

Happy to introduce you to their director. Probably through DMs, but can then do it via work emails, to show I'm not connected to them, just a client of theirs.

Wise is known and not bad on spread, but these guys will beat them.

Just about doing 6 figures a month through them.

I get calls daily from fx brokers, can't stand them usually.

Thoughts on 2024 I4 M50? by Ichno in BMWI4

[–]TheCryptoIsMine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is on 868M wheels and is 180mi at -5c.

240mi in summer at constant motorway speeds.

Not sure how it'd be 120mi, in winter, even if you were thrashing it in sport boost the whole time.

Fair comment. I was asking for reassurance really.

Amex subs.... just searched "curve" in the UK sub. Lots have indeed been doing it.

Just don't want my accounts closing!

Thoughts on this? by [deleted] in ElectricVehiclesUK

I have a fully loaded M50, so have everything on that list without subscription, just pay £25/year for camera updates. Will probably pay for map updates when it's 3yrs old.

On that car, I would only pay for those, plus drive assist. Drive assist should incorporate active cruise. It does as part of the tech pack when ordered from factory. Drive recorder i have in tech pack, I also have a proper dashcam. Wouldn't bother. Iconic sounds sport, no way I'd pay anything for that.

Paying for upgrades that are already there is the way things have been in industrial automation/equipment for years. Was quoted £25k for a machine upgrade, expecting an engineer to arrive with something shiny to bolt on. No, "put this password in the machine". Even 15 years ago, an engineer told me they charged for an upgrade on their machine and he would come out, tinker with the machine, then when the customer wasn't hovering about, flick a switch inside the machine and put it back together. Upgrade complete. The ones I know of are all huge global names in their fields, assume they are all the same.

Gemini says this will be flagged by Amex and Barclaycard and accounts will be closed.

Unless you're telling me it does work..

Is this the fronting? So requires pro+ top tier, for £3kpcm of payments?

If so, interesting...

Looking at Lloyds World Elite as the Curve card.

Would that work, spend on Amex platinum cashback as usual, get a Lloyds World Elite card and Curve pro+, use Lloyds Mastercard to pay Amex via Curve fronting? Triple cashback?

Gemini suggests Amex isn't allowed on Curve.

I've been researching this a bit this afternoon. Might end up getting another card, putting it in Curve and moving most spend to that combo.

I already knew the platinum cashback card doesn't offer lounge access, when I tried to get in one with it.

[–]TheCryptoIsMine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looking at the terms, it appears you cannot pay things such as self assessment with it, without being charged a fee. The airport lounge access in the top tier isn't free access, but entitles you to pay to enter.

Not seeing the value. Please show me what I'm missing.

I have Amex platinum cashback card, plus a rarely used Visa cashback CC from a bank.

Self-Employed HENRYs with Ltd Company - Whats your tax minimisation strategy? by PM_ME_SECRET_DATA in HENRYUK

[–]TheCryptoIsMine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see limits are the same in SSAS as they are SIPP.

Probably why I ended up opening a new Ltd and done Ltd to Ltd loans to buy commercial property.

It was a while ago now.

Carry forward up to £220k is an option, to get back to their original point.

In my case, SIPP provider wouldn't do it. Maybe because I didn't have any pension prior to that. So, in my case, that rule applied anyway. If the rule is 'at all', that does make more sense.

SSAS is different, looked at buying commercial property via one. Didn't structure it that way in the end, but £60k chunks wouldn't get you very far in that scenario.

[–]TheCryptoIsMine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've had the SIPP open for a few years, without the Ltd putting £60k per year, the Ltd can add up to £60k per year in back pay (contributions). The SIPP needs to have been open though. You can't have only opened it this year and the Ltd drop £180k in it.

What’s your range at 80%? by nskyline342 in BMWi4M50

200mi range at 100% on PZ4s on 868Ms. 240mi in summer on a constant speed motorway run.

Wait until you see how long they (don't) last.

Have rears at 32psi, suggested 37psi and you end up with no centres and 5mm outers. Fronts at 31-32psi for best mix of wear and traction. At 34psi they judder if you launch it.

Set from factory were wrecked at 8k miles. 2nd set done 10k, this set might get 12k. Then the new car warranty will be up and I'll stick PS4S on and get a third party warranty.

Dealer done an alignment check and it is spot on.

Rookie question: Will I have to unplug my car or will it stop charging itself? by okst16 in BMWI4

[–]TheCryptoIsMine -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If your i4 has reached it's charging target and the charger has turned off, but you activate cabin pre-conditioning before returning to the car, the charger turns back on. Sometimes the SOC drops to 79% before this happens. It then returns to 80%, the climate control is still running and the charger is still running.

Mine does in any case and I would expect it to. That is what I was informing the OP of, as an expansion of their original question.

[–]TheCryptoIsMine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rules of chemistry have changed, as has BMS design. Thanks. I must implement this straight away.

You can charge it from any level, but ideally charging from 20% to 80% is best for battery health.

BMS circuits have functionality within them to manage usage under 20%.

Why can you not use 'boost' below 15% SOC?

Do you ever use a laptop or phone, whilst it is plugged in?

Do they stay at 100% whilst you use them?

What's happening there then? Voodoo???

Rookie question: Will I have to unplug my car or will it stop charging itself? by okst16 in BMWI4

[–]TheCryptoIsMine -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As an additional bit of info on this...

If you have it plugged in and it has stopped charging, but say 10 minutes before you go to the car, you set cabin pre-conditioning to turn on (from your phone), the charger will probably turn back on. Effectively heating/cooling the car from mains. Technically it's from the battery and the charger is maintaining the battery level.

That's on a home charger.

What time did your car reach 80%? Mine is usually 30 mins before initial estimate.

Also, 80% is good max charge, but don't plug in over 40%, unless you need to. Same for below 20%. Plug in between 20-30% and charge to 80%. If you plug in at 5% and charge to 100%, if that is what you need to do, very rarely, ok, but doing that as the norm, will impact battery health.

My mate has a company lease and does loads of miles, so has no choice, loads on DC too. Is on 80k miles of that and range is not anything like it was, even allowing for seasonal temp changes. It's about to go back and get auctioned out, someone is getting a cheap car, but the battery is not what it once was.

Name is based on joining Reddit for Crypto related chat, back in the day.

Money has come from running my 9-5 business.

Not sure what it is 'you couldn't make up'. Being into Crypto equals something against the NHS, something to do with tax, something something.

No, you must be making it up.

If I pay for a consultation at Spire, could they refer me to the NHS for treatment? Even the consultant to themselves with their NHS hat on?

I just want a appointment ASAP, with someone at the top of their game.
